Chapter 287: Used to Crack a Walnut

Chapter 287: Chapter 287: Used to Crack a Walnut

In the special interrogation room, Yang Yu enthusiastically pitched the textbooks of nine years of compulsory education to the Special Measures Committee.

Riding on the orb of light created by Kaka, Yang Yu settled all the completed tasks and used up all his lottery draws without leaving a single one behind.

Unfortunately, today, like always, he was metaphorically hung up and beaten by the Goddess of Fortune.

The warehouse had increased its inventory with lots of inexplicable items.

Among the pile of junk he’d drawn, the only thing worth looking at was a laptop computer.

But in this world without the internet or electricity to run a computer, this meant that the laptop was also essentially a piece of metal junk, only good for cracking walnuts.

emmm...

Perhaps, it could be used to prop up a table leg or double as a chopping board.

As for the guaranteed Skill Yang Yu got from the tasks, he drew one called "Sharp Blade."

Just by its name, it seemed powerful, but in reality, it was just a common Attack BUFF that only increased sword damage by 10%.

For Yang Yu, the tank, it was utterly useless.

Under Yang Yu’s sales pitch, the elders of the Countermeasures Committee became deeply interested in the books he had.

Ancient civilizations were just ancient legends existing in books, and everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the tip of that ancient iceberg.

Several elders could hardly contain their excitement and hoped that Yang Yu would immediately read the books aloud to them.

Yang Yu was more than happy to offer a taste of the proverbial honey, a common sales tactic. He pulled out a physics textbook and lifted it toward the elders.

An invisible force pulled the book from Yang Yu’s hand, flew it into the sky, and dropped it into Baronaco’s grasp, as many elders stealthily drew closer.

Baronaco tilted slightly to let the light shine on the book’s cover, reflecting a kaleidoscope of colors, adorned with exquisite artwork and completely unintelligible text.

Upon opening the book, the even and soft pages were a comfort to touch, and the text was written neatly on them.

It didn’t look like a book from their time at all.

The surrounding elders tried to read it, but despite their extensive knowledge, they had never seen such strange text and couldn’t understand the book, so they could only look helplessly at Yang Yu.

Seizing this opportunity, Yang Yu immediately began to boast about how terrifying the Light of God Destruction was, saying that if he hadn’t dealt with the Light of God Destruction sooner, these books would have been ruined by it long ago.

Then, Yang Yu said that he had received some enlightenment within the ruins and had become able to understand some of the text in the books.

It was for this reason he realized the special nature of these books and wanted to sell these genuinely valuable books to the All Things Library.

To prove that he really could understand the content, Yang Yu pulled out a thick and long glass rod, stuffed it into soft cotton cloth, manipulated it with his hands, gently squeezed, and rubbed vigorously, creating a deadly rhythm. It made the glass rod seem electrified as it easily attracted the pre-prepared paper scraps.

The elders from the Library couldn’t help but exclaim,

"What kind of Magic did you use for the paper scraps to be directly attracted to the rod... We can’t feel any Magic Fluctuation?"

"Because it’s not Magic," Yang Yu said with a slight smile.

"Not Magic? Then what is it?" the elder pressed.

"It’s principle.

It’s the principle.

It’s the principle that exists in this world.

Everything in the world, from the giant dragons in the sky to the ants and insects on the ground, must follow certain laws, live according to something.

They call this principle.

The set of books you’re holding now is from a civilization that tried to reveal the truth of the world.

In my view, that ancient civilization did not possess the convenient Magic we have, they relied solely on principle to establish their brilliance, creating many things that surpass my imagination.

If one could fully comprehend the principle spoken of in these books,

perhaps they could change this world."

Yang Yu spoke eloquently, but the elders seemed overwhelmed and tilted their heads in confusion, realizing they still couldn’t understand despite Yang Yu’s explanation.

Even if the text described vividly on the pages, without knowing the letters, they couldn’t comprehend the knowledge within.

Anticipating the elders’ thoughts, Yang Yu smiled and took out a math textbook and a substantial lexicon.

"The set I’m holding in my left hand is the knowledge necessary to figure out the principle, called mathematics.

And this thick book in my right hand is called a dictionary.

Your Library must certainly have books that teach people to read and write, and this dictionary is the essential textbook of that era for teaching literacy.

The All Things Library is filled with talented individuals, so finding a linguist who is very skilled in ancient languages shouldn’t be a problem.

Just give this book to him and have him fully comprehend it, and then you’ll be able to interpret the other knowledge in the books.

Besides that, I have some other books here. Aside from these three, I most highly recommend..."

Yang Yu rambled on about how great the books in his possession were, telling everyone present that if they miss this opportunity, they won’t find another shop like it. If the All Things Library wasn’t interested in purchasing this knowledge, he would have to seek other prospects.

As the Committee elders passed the books around, their eyes were hot with desire, for they knew the value of such items better than anyone.

"The value of the books is indisputable. But why are you so sure that these books can help us at the All Things Library solve the persistent problems we’ve encountered?" they asked.

Feigning recollection, Yang Yu spoke each word with firm conviction.

"In that era I witnessed, everyone possessed vast knowledge. People could learn about all aspects of knowledge without leaving their homes.

Even something as vast as the knowledge repository of the All Things Library could be packed up and taken away in just a small box, without the need to build such a large Library.

The books I offer you now are the doors to that era, and most likely the insights left behind by an ancient civilization at the time of its downfall.

If you can fully understand and freely apply the knowledge,

a new era will arrive."

With that, Yang Yu pulled a laptop computer from the System that he had drawn,

"The box I mentioned that could hold all the knowledge of the Library is this thing.

Unfortunately, this box is something I also do not know how to use. It seems to lack some sort of energy needed to operate it, perhaps that energy is hidden within these books.

Whether I’m speaking the truth or not is entirely up to your judgment.

But I believe that this object would serve its greatest purpose in your hands, not mine."

Fascinated by the black box in Yang Yu’s hand, the Committee members showed a peculiar interest, not hesitating in their response.

"Let’s talk about your terms. What do we need to offer you?" they asked.

With a grin, Yang Yu replied, "What I need is actually nothing too significant."
