Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!
Chapter 249: Come Over Here!

Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Come Over Here!

Attack speed maxed out, Iyas kept nocking and drawing her bow, launching arrows. Bai Jin’s skill became more adept, firing off "Frost Ice Arrows" like raindrops, pitter-pattering against the back of the black behemoth.

Their painstakingly laid trap was a success, the black behemoth struggled mightily but found no way to crawl out of the deep pit.

However, the defenses of this black behemoth were too exceptional. Despite the torrent of Iyas’ arrows and the bone-chilling cold of Bai Jin’s "Frost Ice Arrows," they could not penetrate the condensed black scales of the behemoth to strike at its core.

To deal effective damage, they would need to use armor-piercing skills.

"Iyas, ’Gale Point Break’"

At the command, Iyas instantaneously pulled back her bow, a hurricane gathered at the arrowhead, and with a piercing whoosh, the arrow traced a silver-white arc through the air, striking precisely at the back of the black behemoth, piercing through the crocodile’s tough scales.

"Crack—"

The faint sound of something shattering reached Iyas’ ears.

Blessed with Strong Fortune, Iyas had struck the core again. This time, she didn’t consider it good luck; Yang Yu had said that this black behemoth had multiple cores within, so hitting one at random was quite normal.

The black behemoth let out a mournful cry as a mass of black energy spewed from the wound created by the arrow.

But, this black energy didn’t flow towards the black bubbles. Instead, it lingered in place, as if waiting for something.

Having lost a core, the once formidable black behemoth began to melt, transforming into a pool of sticky black liquid that filled the deep pit they had dug.

Bubbles continuously popped from the viscous black liquid, as if something was struggling within, slowly beginning to boil.

After a while, the boiling abruptly stopped. The black energy that had been hovering nearby, as if following a command, suddenly rushed into the black liquid.

The black liquid twisted and transformed, ultimately shaping itself into a towering lion that roared imposingly into the sky.

With a mighty leap, the lion sprang from the trap laden with weapons.

"After destroying a core, was it that the body underwent a transformation controlled by the other cores?" Yang Yu was unsurprised, "As expected, it wouldn’t be that simple for us to kill it. But, it’s much more interesting this way."

The black lion shook its long mane, giving Yang Yu a low growl.

Opening his panel, Yang Yu saw that compared to the black behemoth, this black giant lion had a decreased HP limit and overall attributes had been slightly reduced.

The change in form also brought a change in attribute emphasis. A lot of the black giant lion’s attributes focused on Strength, which meant its other attributes weren’t much different from Yang Yu’s.

Yang Yu damn well loved these iron blockheads who piled all their attributes into Strength.

These blockheads had formidable destructive power, but as long as one utilized skills adeptly, dealing with such enemies was a cinch.

Yang Yu beckoned contemptuously with his index finger toward the black giant lion and bellowed:

"Come at me!"

Provoked by Yang Yu’s taunt, the black lion was thoroughly enraged, revealing its sharp claws and pounced fiercely toward Yang Yu. Unperturbed, Yang Yu crouched low, his shield glowed red and sprouted spurs, unleashing "Shield Counter" to catch the black giant lion’s claw.

As the black lion’s claw struck the spike-covered shield, an electric current surged into its body. Its entire arm snapped off, turning into black energy.

The Dark Lion cocked its head in slight surprise and leapt away instantly, using Black Energy to heal itself, but it wasn’t yet proficient in manipulating the Black Energy, and it took a considerable amount of time to reform its arm.

Yang Yu noticed this detail and let a slight smile play around the corners of his mouth as he drew his sword and attacked the Dark Lion.

The Dark Lion seemed to have not anticipated Yang Yu’s assault at all as it hurriedly swung its paws in defense.

Taking small, quick steps, Yang Yu dodged the lion’s attacks time and time again. After several exchanges, in the face of the lion whose Strength completely overwhelmed his own, Yang Yu had somehow managed to gain the upper hand, now steadily suppressing it.

Iyas and Bai Jin stopped their attacks, simply watching Yang Yu.

It wasn’t that they chose to stop on their own, but Yang Yu had asked them to hold back.

If one core corresponds to one form of transformation, shattering the current form’s Core suddenly will cause the Black Entity with a solid body to revert to its Slime form, turning into a black creature of unknown Attribute.

At that point, facing a black creature with balanced attributes, Yang Yu wasn’t sure whether he could remain as comfortably in control as he was now.

Yang Yu had also considered attacking the Black Entity in its Slime state, but once transformed, it lost all data, becoming like an inanimate object—a likely futile effort to strike it.

Therefore, Yang Yu gave up on the idea of attacking the Entity while it was in its Slime state.

Now, the best approach was to take advantage of the creature being in a state he could manage and to quickly locate all of its cores before destroying them in one fell swoop.

The Dark Lion’s attribute did not focus on Defense, and since a body formed of Black Energy was more fragile than animal fur, Yang Yu easily pierced through the skin of the Dark Lion.

Using "Copper Wall Iron Curtain" and "Steel Body" to deliberately take the brunt of the Black Energy Giant Lion’s attacks, Yang Yu drove his Blood Volume down to 30% before beginning to weave in and out of the giant lion’s reach with his movements and "Sudden Killing Intent," intruding recklessly into the body of the giant.

Whenever his sword scraped something hard, Yang Yu would immediately withdraw his blade, note the approximate location, and continue to toy with the Dark Lion using his Skills and footwork.

After repeatedly being toyed with by Yang Yu, the Dark Lion finally got the hang of controlling its body, but by then it was already too late.

"Iyas, Bai Jin, I’ve located all the Core positions within this Shadow Entity. I’ll point them out with my sword in a moment. Remember them well and then hit them hard!" he said.

Having finished speaking, Yang Yu used "Sudden Killing Intent" again, his Speed rapidly increasing, moving like lightning. He nimbly shifted around the Dark Lion, leaving a series of small holes with his Sharp Sword Blade on its body.

Iyas and Bai Jin quickly aimed for the marks made by Yang Yu, unleashing their firepower.

Their keen Attacks also pierced through the skin of the Dark Lion, striking its five cores within.

Those five cores shattered instantly, and the massive Dark Lion collapsed to the ground, with the Black Energy that comprised its body gradually peeling away, as if responding to a summons and flowing towards the black bubbles.

Taking this opportunity, Yang Yu took out a canvas bag that he had prepared from the System and swiftly bagged the Dark Lion, which was not yet fully dissipated into Black Energy.

The deflated bag expanded in an instant. Then, as if a particular force of attraction was at work, the Black Energy inside the bag rushed toward the direction of the black bubbles, generating a powerful lifting force.

It works, this method works.

Thinking to himself, Yang Yu took out a freshly-made raft and a piece of cloth from the System. He tied the four corners of the cloth with ropes, and the other ends of the ropes to the four corners of the raft.

He stuffed the balloon made of canvas into the fabric and, surprisingly, the entire raft floated lightly into the air.
