Demon King: Hero, don’t run away! -
Chapter 219: The Fairy Kingdom
Chapter 219: Chapter 219: The Fairy Kingdom
A golden ball of light flew over the flower field and reached the end of the sea of flowers, crashing into the splendid and magnificent palace, stumbling along the red carpet at high speed, and burst through the doors of the King’s study.
"Not good, Your Majesty, not good!"
A small figure between the bookshelves heard this voice, abruptly closed the book in his hands, forcefully stuffed it back into the shelf, and nonchalantly faced the light ball that had burst in.
"No matter what has happened, there’s no need to panic like this. You’re only causing confusion. Speak, what exactly has happened?"
The speaker had delicate golden short hair, well-proportioned features, eyes like green gemstones radiating valor, and wore a splendid golden suit, appearing as if a prince from a fairy tale had stepped out.
However... behind him were thin wings, and his ears were pointed, which meant he could never be the dream lover of thousands of girls.
He was too small, really too small.
If an adult were placed there, it would become evident that he was only the size of an adult’s fist.
He was a fairy.
To be precise, he was the King of the Fairy Kingdom, Kaka Rote.
The light ball that had rushed into his study was his secretary, Sisi, a clumsy male elf.
"Your Majesty, you must listen, the barrier has broken, the sealing barrier has broken ahead of schedule!"
"So, it is only the barrier that has broken. I thought something serious had happened..." After speaking this sentence, a look of astonish crossed Kaka’s handsome face, "Wait, what did you just say?"
Sisi reported truthfully, "The barrier has broken, the one used for the sealing shattered ahead of schedule. The position of the rupture is at Lake Baikal, where black bubbles rose from the center of the lake, blowing black winds, just like before, leaving no grass alive wherever it passed, and the fairies working in the flower field didn’t have time to evacuate, some have already been corrupted!"
Suppressing the unease in his heart, Kaka asked, "Approximately how many fairies have been corrupted?"
"Over a hundred are already known, and the number is still increasing. What should we do now, Your Majesty?"
Sisi’s face was filled with distress, the event from nineteen years ago vivid in his mind; if tragedy were to repeat, the consequences were unthinkable. He now hoped their King could lead them through the crisis again.
As disaster struck again, Kaka pondered for a moment before issuing instructions,
"Relay my orders, all fairies enter preparedness mode, stay away from Lake Baikal, do not be afraid. We have the experience from nineteen years ago, firstly organize personnel to prevent the disaster from expanding further. I will contact the humans; the passage will open soon, and I will have them send people down promptly to handle it."
"By your wish, I believe Your Majesty will surely lead us through this crisis!"
After speaking, Sisi ran out of the study without turning back, conveying the orders of the King of Elves.
Watching Sisi’s stumbling departure again, Kaka pulled out the book he had just stuffed back into the shelf, gently touching the golden-haired girl’s face on the cover with a gesture of reluctance,
"This time too we shall definitely overcome the crisis, Alice, I promise you, hereafter we will always be together."
Having made this vow, Kaka carefully preserved the book in the bookshelf and flew towards a large mirror. They had helped humanity a lot, and now it was time for humans to reciprocate.
...
...
After running around all day, Yang Yu lay on his bed to rest, the window shattered by Tico had not been fixed yet, and with a slight turn, he could see the starry sky twinkling, the breeze blowing gently. Yang Yu moved his bed a bit to find a less windy spot and then peacefully fell asleep.
However, before the sun could rise from its slumber and climb high, an unsettling day had already begun.
In the middle of the night, Bai Jin knocked urgently on Yang Yu’s door.
Half-asleep, Yang Yu washed his face quickly and opened the door, only to see a worried Bai Jin.
Before he could even ask what Bai Jin wanted, she hurriedly grabbed his hand and pulled him toward her room.
"Come quickly, He Meng seems a bit abnormal today!"
Upon hearing this, Yang Yu instantly perked up.
There’s trouble, this was definitely the cue for a task!
What are we waiting for? Let’s hurry!
With sleepiness completely swept away, Yang Yu quickened his pace, dragging Bai Jin without any hesitation and stepped into her room.
In Bai Jin’s room, the light blue He Meng huddled in the corner like a lost snail, rubbing hard against the wall, but no matter how much it wriggled, it stayed in the same place without moving forward a step.
Do slimes sleepwalk? If it was indeed sleepwalking, that would be a false alarm.
Opening the attribute panel, Yang Yu suddenly noticed a new, thin icon on He Meng’s status bar.
Raising an eyebrow, Yang Yu lightly tapped it, but the icon didn’t display any information, only showing three large question marks.
Undoubtedly, He Meng was in some sort of abnormal state.
Currently, the state was very weak, possibly not even fully effective yet, but it had already started to affect the demon.
"He Meng, did you eat anything strange yesterday?"
Bai Jin shook her head, although He Meng had almost "severed" relations with Yang Yu, it still eagerly found Yang Yu at mealtimes and begged him for clovers. Beyond clovers, He Meng barely ate anything else, completely ruling out the possibility of a stomach issue.
"So, when exactly did it become like this?" Yang Yu continued to ask.
"It was fine when we came back, and He Meng was behaving as usual until I went to bed. But in the middle of the night, when I got up to investigate some strange noises, I saw it had turned into this... Is it sick?"
Worry was evident on Bai Jin’s face as she watched He Meng spinning in place, feeling heartbroken yet helpless.
"Slimes don’t get sick that easily, there must be some other hidden reasons; let me check."
Saying this, Yang Yu took a few steps closer to He Meng. He bent down to examine further the unknown state affecting He Meng when it, as if sensing his presence, stopped moving.
Suddenly without any warning, He Meng elongated its body and, like a rubber ball, bounced off the ground and slammed into Yang Yu’s chest.
Yang Yu swiftly summoned a shield from the system, and a "Shield Block" stopped He Meng’s assault, knocking He Meng back against the wall.
He Meng slid down the clean wall, leaving behind moist trails, then shrank back into a rounded heap, looking around left and right as if it had just woken up.
When it saw Yang Yu holding a sword pointed at it, it felt wronged and protested.
Bai Jin’s brows were tightly furrowed, her face clearly showing her worry, "He Meng, are you alright now?"
Hearing Bai Jin’s words, three large question marks appeared over He Meng’s head, completely unable to understand the current situation or remember what had just happened.
