Chapter 200: Chapter 200 My Precious Baby
Dressed in his finest clothes, Yang Yu straightened himself in front of the mirror, nibbled on two pieces of bread, and headed directly to Tico’s house.
Tico’s house, the villa specially provided to her by the Library, was much more spacious than ordinary villas and boasted a huge courtyard.
Within the courtyard, beautiful flowers bloomed, bees and butterflies danced, and even a small fountain sprayed water droplets, constructing a brilliant rainbow under the sun.
Arriving at the villa marked on the map, Yang Yu was about to press the doorbell, when the front door of the villa swung open for him.
"Please come in."
A mature female voice emerged from the void, enchanting and haunting like an irresistible perfume.
For some reason, Yang Yu felt a faint sense of déjà vu.
Since others were so generous, Yang Yu was not one to hesitate; he proceeded along the cobblestone path to the house’s door.
Just as his hand was about to knock, the door to the house automatically opened.
It seemed that from the moment Yang Yu stood at the villa’s gate, his every move was under the scrutiny of the villa’s owner.
Tico’s mother, a member of the Library Elders’ Council, found it quite simple to use Magic Power to surveil someone.
If Bai Jin were here, she might have sensed the anomaly of Magic Power and discovered the surveillance, but Yang Yu, being a warrior, was utterly at a loss with this spontaneously occurring Surveillance Magic.
Never mind, let her watch if she wants!
At least since entering this area, I have acted refined and courteous. The more she watches, the more she’ll be impressed by my increased charm of 100.
With a newfound sense of confidence, Yang Yu walked into the house with his head held high and chest puffed out.
Inside Tico’s house, the decor was even more artistic than he imagined, with paintings, sculptures, and furniture arranged with style and sophistication, rich in layers.
Although Yang Yu could not specify the intricacies, he could see that every detail here reflected the owner’s cultural refinement.
Taking a few more steps, he saw a silver-haired beautiful woman meticulously preparing tea, which caught his eye.
The woman looked up at Yang Yu. Her gaze revealed no discernible emotions,
"Welcome, I am Tico’s mother, Emily Titra."
Emily Titra.
Seeing this silver-haired beauty, Yang Yu felt she looked vaguely familiar. It wasn’t until hearing this lady’s introduction that Yang Yu suddenly realized, wasn’t she the examiner from his testing site?
No wonder he felt she looked familiar initially. It turned out she really was Tico’s mother.
Adjusting his mindset, Yang Yu bowed to Emily, who had set down the tea set, "Hello, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Yang Yu, and I just became a Library member a few days ago, previously working as an adventurer. May I know why Madam invited me here, what can I do for you?"
"There’s no need to be so formal. I indeed have quite a few things I wish to ask you."
As she spoke the last few words, Emily’s tone notably intensified.
"Come sit first, my questions won’t be done in a short while."
With a hazy look, Emily waved her hand gently, and the chair beside the coffee table slid back, welcoming Yang Yu’s arrival. Yang Yu didn’t hold back, he walked over to the coffee table and sat down face-to-face with Emily.
Once Yang Yu had settled, Emily moved her fingers, and the tea automatically moved in front of Yang Yu.
Yang Yu took a small sip of the dry, fragrant black tea, which refreshed his mind and spirit—it was incomparable to what was sold at roadside stalls.
"I won’t beat around the bush. You probably understand why I want to talk to you. Let’s cut straight to the chase." Emily picked up another cup of black tea, her eyes suddenly sharp, "Is your relationship with my daughter genuine?"
As expected, there was no avoiding this hurdle.
Thinking about it, skipping the daughter to talk about work directly wasn’t something a good mother would do.
Putting down his black tea, Yang Yu answered solemnly, "Although I hardly know Miss Tico, I assure you that everything I feel for Miss Tico comes from genuine emotions."
"Not a bad look in your eyes, doesn’t seem like a lie. I’ll trust you for now. Here comes my second question."
"If Tico were in danger in the future, what would you do?"
"I would do everything in my power to help Miss Tico. I know my current abilities are limited and I might not be of any help to Miss Tico right now, but I will still do my best for her.
In the future, in order to stand side by side with her, I will constantly strive to improve myself. I know words alone aren’t convincing, which is why I ask you, ma’am, for a bit of time. If you could give me that, I assure you that you won’t be disappointed!"
"Hmm... Quite the standard response. Becoming the talk of the Library within just a month, I too am keen to see what achievements you will eventually bring. You’re right, young people do need some time, I understand that."
After taking a sip of the mellow black tea, Emily seemed quite satisfied with Yang Yu’s answer, and she asked,
"So, the next question, those two girls who are always around you, what’s the situation there? With those two girls by your side, can you really assure me that your heart remains devoted to Tico?"
Why would she suddenly bring up Bai Jin and Iyas? Could it be that Tico’s mother thinks, with Bai Jin and Iyas always around me, I might gradually lose interest in Tico and ultimately become indifferent?
This was indeed a serious minefield. Careless answers might easily offend Tico’s mother, resulting in being utterly obliterated by magic.
Quickly filtering through potential minefields in his mind, Yang Yu slowly began, "On that note, please rest assured, my relationship with them is merely that of plain companionship, nothing more. Along the way, there have been opportunities to develop a different type of relationship with them, but if I had wanted to form such a relationship, it would have happened by now."
"I see, sorry for the tedious question. But I still need to make this clear, regardless of your relationship with Tico, should you dare to deceive her or me, you should know the consequences, right?"
Faced with Emily’s suddenly fierce demeanor, Yang Yu remained unmoved.
"I am well aware of the consequences, and I assure you that everything I’ve spoken thus far comes from the depths of my heart—I will definitely treat Miss Tico well in the future."
"Hearing you assure me so confidently puts my mind at ease." After saying so, Emily made a gesture indicating that the visit was over, and said, "I’ve asked everything I wanted to. Now that we’re done, it’s time for me to get back to work. Come visit again when you have time."
Meow meow meow? Is this really the end?
Yang Yu was full of question marks. What about the lengthy discussion that was supposed to take place? How could it end so abruptly?
What about being recognized and appreciated by a powerful person? Why did it suddenly diminish?
This lady, are you really not interested in my precious charge at all?
