Chapter 163: Chapter 163 This is No Big Deal
Yang Yu and Guan Er smeared a thick white liquid on the faces of the other Hanis, facing each other down. The Hanis covered in white liquid either joined the team or launched attacks at the imposing Hani swarm, only to be split in two by a slash from Guan Er.
Just like that, the young man led his team, climbing upward floor by floor.
"Do they intend to leave this place? But why split some Hanis in half?"
Misha found it very strange.
Until now, the Hanis within the Hani Maze had coexisted peacefully, each wandering without incident.
The current infighting among their race was bound to be unusual.
"Is it a mutiny? Why so suddenly?... Was it that young man who incited them?"
The Magic Peeping Mirror could scout nearby situations rapidly, but it couldn’t transmit sound, leaving Misha unaware of what Yang Yu and his group were saying.
With her lips parting slightly, just as Misha was about to weave a more complex Reconnaissance Magic to eavesdrop on the conversation between Yang Yu and Hani, Yang Yu suddenly doubled back. Leading a large group of Hanis, he retraced his steps to the Eighth Floor.
Some Hanis brought pieces of their comrades, others brought wood, fashioning simple hoes they distributed among the group. Then, the Hanis cleared away the sand, waving their hoes and digging downward.
"Ah?"
Misha was startled by this unforeseen action.
Why were they digging downward with hoes? Could they have discovered my presence here? But that young man didn’t seem like a Mage...
At a loss for answers, Misha grew more agitated.
If this group of Hanis truly kept digging deeper, they would soon breach the Underground Maze. At that point, with the balance between the two mazes disrupted, Misha, as the Maze Boss, would be compelled to do battle for the maze’s survival.
With hordes of Magic Immune Hanis invading her Underground Maze, even with her over-ten-thousand Intelligence, she’d be helpless, ultimately reduced to a weak girl with double-A grade in strength and speed, and left to watch, helpless, as the Underground Maze fell into enemy hands.
"Damn it! I really didn’t want to resort to this move, but it’s unavoidable this time."
Biting her lip, the cornered Misha could only bring out her trump card.
Otherwise, once the Hanis filled up the maze, it would all be over.
...
Elsewhere, after lifting the "Dark Control" from countless Hanis, Guan Er, the Boss at the end, effortlessly organized these Hanis.
"Come on, everyone, work hard! Just keep digging down! We can find the source of the Darkness, unite our efforts to defeat the Darkness, and save the world!"
The organized Hanis fully utilized their racial skills, instantly transforming from monsters of the underground city into outstanding civil engineers and bricklayers, eagerly digging downwards.
The deeper they dug, the sooner they hit upon a Black Stone.
Guan Er reported the situation to Yang Yu, "Immortal, we’ve encountered a tough Black Stone. Please advise."
"Below this lies the Dark Origin. Do not fear; use all means to break open the Black Stone, strike directly at the heart, and completely eliminate the Dark Origin. I will silently support you with Immortal Techniques."
As he spoke, Yang Yu waved at a giant blue Hani, which lifted its short arms and put Yang Yu in its mouth. Neither too big nor too small, Yang Yu was just able to stand upright in the Hani’s mouth.
Hani demons, outwardly resembling earthenware pots, truly had no difference from earthenware pots inside, so Yang Yu wasn’t worried about falling into a Hani’s body. He was only concerned that he might die from some unspecified AOE attack, just like the ADCs in some MOBA games.
The Hanis were immune to magic, but he was not.
By the way, Yang Yu also took advantage of Guan Er Hani’s trust, retrieved the Skill Scroll for "Reflective Coating" from inside Guan Er Hani, and rapidly mastered "Reflective Coating," gaining some ability to counter magic.
As expected, the "Friend of Hani" task displayed a prompt for halved Experience.
But, that was not a problem.
Who would have guessed that Yang Yu had already reached the Level cap and whether it was the Experience from the tasks or from defeating the boss of the underground city, he couldn’t benefit from any of it.
Thus, instead of the penalty, he was more concerned about what rewards he might get after clearing this underground city.
Before entering the final layer of the Hani Maze, Yang Yu had carefully pondered whether it would be a waste to tackle this Underground Maze without gaining Experience.
Maybe he should wait and come back next time?
The world was dynamic in real-time, who knew if there would even be soup left for him next time.
Experience could be sought again, but once treasures were gone, where would you find them?
Even if you turned into the Ten Miles Slope Sword God in Newbie Village, once you left it, wouldn’t you still be thrashed by some first-level tycoon player whose every piece of Equipment was enhanced beyond Level twenty and studded with diamonds?
The tycoon player might even hold a forty-meter-long sword and say with a laugh, "I’ll graciously allow you to run 39 meters."
Times have changed, really changed.
Countless novels, comics, and games are textbooks one after another. Level isn’t everything; Equipment, attributes, and skills are.
Now, Yang Yu was leveling up to obtain a massive amount of free attribute points and Skill Points.
This strategy task offered free attribute points, Skill Points, and even a chance to gain Equipment, greatly satisfying Yang Yu’s need to grow stronger. Only an idiot would say, "I’ll definitely do it next time."
Today, I, Master Yang, am going to freeload my way through! No one can stop me!
Standing within the mouth of a blue Hani, Yang Yu’s face beamed with smiles. The Hani once again utilized its racial talent, mysteriously producing explosives from somewhere, and piled them on the Black Stone slabs.
The show of a controlled Blast was about to begin.
Just then, wisps of pitch-black Magic Power, like rising smoke from cooking fires, emerged from the depths of the earth and gathered into a cloud of Black Mist in the center of the Eighth Floor.
The Black Mist coalesced into form, a Demon with goat legs and horns atop its head landed on the excavated ground.
"I am Beelzebub, the Demon that sleeps within this place. Who dares disturb my slumber?"
The Demon let out a grating roar, full of immense anger. Its gaze swept over the crowd of witnessing Hanis and then suddenly calmed down, its eyes filled with disdain,
"So it’s just the little Hanis. This time, for the sake of you being demons, I’ll forgive you! Now roll out of this maze! If you’re unwilling, I will devour you entirely."
Many fearful Hanis clung to each other, trembling.
Standing within the mouth of a Hani, Yang Yu smiled when he heard the Demon’s words. He had been worried about what to do if the boss of the Underground Maze exposed his little trick, and how he would then persuade the Hanis to believe everything he said.
Now, the boss of the Underground Maze had unexpectedly rounded out his lie for him. Wasn’t this just scripting one’s own death?
