Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!
Chapter 129: Pandora’s Magic Box

Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Pandora’s Magic Box

He opened the letter, which contained only a very brief sentence: "Have you ever tasted the cuisine of the Underground Maze or that of the Otherworld?"

Looking at the letter, a flicker of peculiarity passed through Mr. Qilom’s deep gaze. He initially wanted to crumple the letter and throw it into the trash bin, but his curiosity got the better of him.

It had been far too long since he had made a dish that satisfied himself, and now, even with just a shred of hope, he was willing to give it a try.

"Tell him I am willing to meet him! But if he dares to deceive me, he will bear the consequences! Now, bring him to me!"

After speaking, Mr. Qilom slammed the door and walked to the very center of the restaurant.

The chefs present all wiped a bead of sweat and immediately welcomed the two individuals waiting outside, bringing them to Mr. Qilom’s table.

With his legs crossed and arms folded, Mr. Qilom looked at the two people the chef had brought in.

The leader was a young man with dark brown hair, definitely no older than twenty, his eyes revealing an unusual maturity and playfulness.

Beside him was a pretty blonde, wearing exotic attire that Mr. Qilom had never seen before: open-neck design, standing collar with button loops, side slits, single-piece fabric, the plain tailoring of the body connecting to the sleeves, and a vivid red fabric patterned with an unidentifiable coiling creature, noble yet unconstrained.

Seeing such a beauty, Mr. Qilom’s irritable expression softened considerably, as it was impossible for anyone to lose their temper at such a beauty.

"Hello Mr. Qilom, my name is Yang Yu, a regular adventurer, and this is my companion, Iyas."

Yang Yu introduced himself earnestly, while Iyas bowed slightly to show sincerity.

The chefs watching were dumbstruck.

Dressed so elegantly and nobly, accompanied by such a beauty, and yet claiming to be merely a regular adventurer—are you sure you’re not joking with us?

Whether others believed them or not, these chefs simply couldn’t accept that Yang Yu was just an ordinary adventurer.

Mr. Qilom was skeptical too, but he wasn’t interested in Yang Yu’s real identity; he was only interested in what the letter had mentioned.

"Cut the small talk, I dislike beating around the bush. Where is the thing, and don’t tell me you don’t have it."

If everything mentioned in the letter turned out to be false, Mr. Qilom decided he would grab a rolling pin from the kitchen and give Yang Yu a beating.

"I also dislike beating around the bush."

Yang Yu looked at Mr. Qilom, smiled, and took out a small jar from the System,

"This is what I obtained from the underground city. Out of curiosity, my companion and I have already eaten one jar. How to describe that taste—

please try it for yourself, Mr. Qilom. If you are not at ease, we can try it first."

"No need!" Mr. Qilom stared intently at the jar in Yang Yu’s hand, "Quickly give it to me, I will know at a glance whether it’s edible or not."

"Please feel free to try it." Yang Yu placed the jar in front of Mr. Qilom and sat down opposite him, closely observing every move he made.

Mr. Qilom carefully examined the jar after receiving it.

The first thing he saw was a colorful portrait, which could almost certainly be identified as a middle-aged woman based on facial features; below the woman were three uneven black symbols, resembling some sort of script. Through the jar, one could see food settled in bright red oil—a combination of red and black.

The practice of using jars to preserve food was common in many places and was not unusual.

But, those who preserve food in jars are mostly residing in resource-scarce, remote regions.

Rarely do the foods cured in jars make it to the table.

Such uniquely shaped glass bottles and packaging shouldn’t be something that ordinary families can afford.

Gently twisting open the jar, an irresistible spicy aroma wafted out, making Mr. Qilom’s mouth water.

What on earth is this flavor! It feels like opening a tremendously remarkable Pandora’s Magic Box!

Amidst Mr. Qilom’s astonishment, Yang Yu slowly uttered these three words,

"Lao Ganma!"

"What?"

"The name of this product is called Lao Ganma! Many people I’ve asked do not recognize the writing on it. When I first got this food, I couldn’t understand the words on it either, but when I left the underground city, it seemed as though some kind of blessing allowed me to read them."

"What it’s called isn’t important, the important thing is its flavor," Mr. Qilom casually summoned a chef, "Get me a spoon!"

The chef, not daring to delay, ran into the kitchen and brought back a spoon. Before he could hand it to Mr. Qilom, Mr. Qilom snatched the spoon and carefully scooped out a spoonful of the black food, sniffed it, and then slowly chewed it in his mouth.

The spicy flavor was prominent, with a lingering aftertaste, but a bit too salty.

"Get me a glass of water!"

Mr. Qilom raised his hand, and a chef instantly brought over a glass of water. Mr. Qilom gulped it down, exhaling contentedly.

Although many aspects were not exceptionally remarkable, it seemed as though those shortcomings were also part of the charm of this food.

Mr. Qilom had never tasted such food before; this jar of Lao Ganma seemed to have opened the door to a new world for him and showed him a new Dawn.

He needed much more of this food!

As his agitated and excited mood slowly cooled, Mr. Qilom turned to the young man sitting opposite him. Nothing is brought up without a reason; he was a stranger to him, so he must have had an ulterior motive.

"To be honest, where did you get this from? Surely you didn’t give me this just out of respect for me, did you?"

"The letter already mentioned that the dish you’re eating now comes from the Underground Maze, and it likely comes from another world. As for why I took the trouble to come here..." Yang Yu snapped his fingers, "I just wanted to take a little bit away from your ever-increasing, boring numbers."

"So, you really just came for money?" Mr. Qilom unsympathetically sealed the jar of Lao Ganma, "I don’t think such a thing can impress me. I’m sure there are many things in this world much tastier than this."

"I won’t deny that."

Yang Yu’s mouth slightly curved upward,

"This jar of Lao Ganma is merely a lead, allowing me to meet Mr. Qilom. What comes next is the main point. I wonder if Mr. Qilom is interested in the cuisine of another world.

If you are interested, I’d be willing to reveal everything I saw in the maze, which could certainly inspire Mr. Qilom.

Of course, I don’t know whether these things are true or not.

The judgment is entirely in Mr. Qilom’s hands, if you think what I said is nonsense, just send us away, and we won’t have any complaints."
