Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 965 - 713: Epilogue
Chapter 965: Chapter 713: Epilogue
The sky darkened across half its expanse, and the black robes of the enigmatic figure, the Inspector, fluttered ominously. His entire body was shrouded in darkness; even Roger’s vision couldn’t pierce the shadows under the Inspector’s hood to uncover his true face.
From him, Roger sensed an aura akin to shadow energy, but it was purer, more sinister.
The hem of his robes seemed to exist somewhere between reality and illusion, merging him seamlessly with the oppressive darkness behind him.
Although he stood alone, he exuded a presence akin to contending against half the sky.
Powerful and malevolent.
This was Roger’s most immediate perception of the Inspector.
"Let’s go!"
Jora shouted sharply, "This guy is far stranger than before. The last time we confronted him, he wasn’t this strong!"
Jora’s confidence stemmed from their previous battle, but not much time had passed since then. Not only had Heyman undergone a transformation, but this incredibly mysterious Inspector had also become absurdly strong.
Heyman’s face showed a pale tinge, seemingly from the sustained burn of his flames or perhaps the drain from frequently using his staff, exposing a hint of weakness.
However, upon seeing the Inspector arrive, his expression tightened.
"Kill them all!"
Like distant thunder rumbling, the cold voice invaded their minds directly. The Inspector extended a skeletal hand, releasing a short spear from the voluminous folds of his robes.
There was no sharp sound of the wind splitting; in an instant, the weapon reached Roger.
Swish!
The piercing short spear passed through Roger’s shadowy figure effortlessly. Soon, the surrounding space returned to normal, and Roger materialized nearby, just out of the attack’s range, using spatial manipulation to disrupt the Inspector’s aim.
Yet, within moments of their clash, Roger had already sensed the uncanny nature of this opponent.
But right now, Roger couldn’t afford to consider retreat. The world was sealed off, and this was their last chance to leave. The longer they stayed, the slimmer their chances of success became.
Not far away, Jora gritted her teeth. No matter what, she and Roger were still on the same side. A trace of determination flickered in her eyes. Cursing under her breath, Jora pressed forward and charged at Heyman.
Shadows flickered. Roger’s shadow leaped out from the clouds, and in the instant Black Moon struck, the already dim sky lost all traces of light.
Suddenly, a crescent moon, darker than the deepest abyss, manifested across the heavens.
Boom boom boom!
Thunder roared as Black Moon tore through the Inspector’s robes, piercing into the back of his skull!
Hiss!
Yet as the attack landed successfully, Roger’s expression lacked triumph. The tactile feedback from the shadows caused his face to subtly shift.
Empty. Void.
It felt as though he had pierced nothing but air.
The next moment, Roger surged with power from nearby. For a fleeting instant, the Inspector’s form was immobilized. At the same time, his shadow wielded Black Moon, slashing downward at the rent in the robes!
Riiip!
The black robes split apart, yet instead of blood or skeletal remains, only a pale arm and a swirling vortex of chaos emerged.
"What is this?"
Not only Roger and Jora, but even Heyman wore a face of astonishment.
He had entertained countless guesses—perhaps a cold man, a seductive woman, or an otherworldly aberration. Even non-human beings were within Heyman’s conjectures.
But he had never imagined that beneath the Inspector’s voluminous robes, there would be nothing but void.
Beyond the exposed, skeletal arm.
The bony hand clenched tightly, a pitch-black short spear silently appearing once again. Simultaneously, the torn fabric of his robes gathered itself back together.
The chilling voice resounded through the skies.
"Die."
Just before the black short spear was about to penetrate the shadow’s body, a faint green glow surfaced on the darkness. The devastating strike was deflected. Roger took advantage, rushing forward and closing in on the Inspector.
As he approached, his hands appeared empty, but as the strike descended, Black Moon materialized out of thin air.
Alder Sword Seal!
Though there was still distance between them, Roger’s attack fell directly onto the Inspector, landing true. After striking him, Roger refrained from greed, abruptly spreading his arms wide to erect layers of barriers and interference in the surrounding space.
In the same instant, Black Moon vanished once again.
Only for the shadow to launch the next round of attacks.
Unpredictable and powerful.
The shadow drew strength from the darkness, its destructive power terrifyingly immense. Though Roger had entered the Fifth Tier, his shadow hadn’t undergone a complete evolution. Nevertheless, as an extension of Roger’s strength...
At this stage, it had already surpassed the Fifth Tier.
With no suppression from higher-tier forces, its destructive capability, augmented by Transcendent Swordsmanship, unleashed a horrifying lethality.
One orthodox. One strange.
One revealed. One concealed.
Black Moon teleported instantaneously between two figures, the attacks seamless. Though the appearance suggested two entities, it was essentially Roger divided into two.
This level of coordination surpassed any intuitive mental linkage.
Roger orchestrated control, suppression, and combat rhythm, while his shadow delivered cunning, unpredictable strikes—each one leaving massive breaches in the Inspector’s robes.
Black smoke billowed, thunder roared, as if the Inspector were letting out a guttural howl.
Despite his rapid recovery, over time, he succumbed to a passive state, forced onto the defensive.
"Is this Geralt?"
"Is this his true power?"
Jora watched, dumbstruck, unable to believe that such strength could belong to a newly ascended Fifth Tier Transcendent.
A physique of incredible power, mastery and insight over space, the flames borrowed from her, and the eerie shadow flickering through the darkness.
