Chapter 953: Chapter 707 What are you going to do?
The blue petals trembled, one by one, petals detached from the flower, but instead of falling to the ground, they floated in mid-air, supported by an unseen force.
Jora took a closer look and only then did she realize that the blue objects floating in the air weren’t petals at all—they were ice-blue butterflies.
Their wings gently quivered, revealing their true form. Within just a few breaths, the flower on the ground was left with nothing but its ugly pistil.
The entire space was now densely covered with ice butterflies.
Jora could feel the hidden aggression emanating from these ice butterflies, but their target was not her—it was the figure concealed in the lake water.
"What’s going on?"
At this moment, Jora noticed that Roger’s body was gradually returning to normal. She couldn’t tell whether it was because too much Life Essence had been infused into his core structure or if the spring water had somehow isolated him from the surrounding cold.
Clearly, in the eyes of these ice butterflies, Roger, hiding in the lake water, had already become an undeniable anomaly.
In the next instant, Jora saw a group of ice butterflies gathering together, forming what looked like an ice crystal-covered palm that fiercely slammed downward!
Shockingly, they completely ignored Jora, who was standing beside the lake, focusing all their attacks solely on Roger.
Without time to think, Jora leaped into the air, transforming back into her Giant Dragon form. She spread her wings wide, actively intercepting the enormous palm.
Boom!
The violent impact struck Jora’s body. The Dragon Scales on her surface trembled slightly, absorbing much of the force.
With a deafening roar, Jora’s immense figure rotated nimbly in mid-air. Her wings stirred up fierce winds, disrupting the surrounding airflow. Like razor-sharp blades, they shredded the colossal palm in an instant.
But before she had time to celebrate, Jora noticed that her attack, though it shattered some of the ice butterflies, only resulted in even more butterflies surging forward.
The shattered ice butterflies vanished before they hit the ground, and simultaneously, the enormous palm reappeared.
Only this time, the palm’s shape had undergone subtle changes.
It seemed harder and sharper.
"The situation has changed; speed up the absorption!" Jora shouted loudly, multitasking.
Roger, witnessing everything outside the lake, could see it all clearly. But at this point, the changes within his body had spiraled out of his control.
Concerning the absorption of Life Essence, he had anticipated its beginning but hadn’t foreseen the process or the outcome.
Truthfully, without a core structure, Roger’s body couldn’t store any Life Essence. And Life Essence was far from a simple form of energy; he couldn’t crudely use it to enhance his body or increase his strength.
It was an acknowledgment.
An acknowledgment of becoming a higher form of being.
"Detected strong Life Energy, beginning transformation and absorption..."
This was the notification from the message board. Yet Roger’s body showed no physical changes.
However, deep within his consciousness, the previously faint and blurry Hunter’s Cabin suddenly began solidifying at a rapid pace.
From indistinct to clear.
Just when Roger thought the Hunter’s Cabin would completely take form with the help of this peculiar energy, it seemed to reach a limit. The now-clear yet incomplete cabin stopped absorbing.
Immediately after, droplets of moisture appeared amidst the dark backdrop.
The moisture spread, falling from the void like rain.
The whole process was silent yet extraordinarily swift.
Roger was stunned to find that around the cabin, a pool of green lake water had formed. The water was crystal-clear, appearing no deeper than ankle-height.
"What is this supposed to mean?"
Roger was puzzled. He could sense that his strength hadn’t increased at all. The transformation process was still ongoing, and he even worried that he might exhaust all the Life Essence here.
"Will something go wrong?" He couldn’t help feeling uneasy and apprehensive. But just then, Roger suddenly felt as though a massive shadow had engulfed the space above him.
Snapping out of his consciousness, he raised his head and looked up.
The green lake water seemed to have mingled with another color.
It was blood.
Above the lake water, Jora’s body was covered in injuries. Each piece of her Dragon Scale looked as though it had endured prolonged and repeated abuse. She continuously repaired the wounds across her body, but at this moment, she was no longer fighting just one gigantic palm.
Dozens of palms descended from all directions, striking from the air. Jora struggled to keep up. If she weren’t trying to protect Roger from interference, she could have adopted a guerrilla warfare tactic.
But for now, Jora could only hover passively above the lake, taking most of the attacks upon herself.
Vitality wasn’t infinite, either. Her roars had grown weak, and as her injuries worsened, her body was gradually crystallizing into ice.
The ice butterflies she destroyed with violent attacks scattered into the wind, yet before long, new butterflies grew again on the pistils left on the ground.
Although Jora had already wiped out all the flowers around the lake, further away, clusters of ice points continued to converge.
An endless cycle, ceaseless reemergence.
Even if Jora’s Vitality were twice as strong, she would eventually be worn down and killed by the unrelenting tide of ice butterflies.
This was the world of ice and snow, where other forces had no room to survive.
Her body staggered, her wings fractured. Jora’s massive figure fell from the sky, crashing hard into the green lake water.
Shaking her head, she regained clarity after a moment of dizziness. Jora was about to spread her wings to take flight again, but the damage to her wings affected her ability to maneuver.
Just when she thought she was about to plunge into the lake water, a loud boom sounded from beneath her, and Jora felt a powerful force supporting her.
