Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 945 - 703: No Deal, No Hurt
Chapter 945: Chapter 703: No Deal, No Hurt
Kaer Morhen, night.
The deadliest kind of arrogance is the invisible kind. During the day, Arne had still wanted to say something or perhaps use the Hunters Guild to suppress Henrik.
After all, what happened last night was a major event that hadn’t occurred in the Hunters Guild for centuries. But in the end, he could only leave with a forced smile and hurried back to the main guild to report.
The entire day, all the Demon Hunter apprentices were in a state of inexplicable excitement.
Throughout Armenia and even the European continent, Demon Hunters were considered the weakest Transcendents in terms of power. There were a large number of them, but their voice was the faintest.
Constrained by various factors, their upward mobility was almost entirely blocked, making them the most common cannon fodder in the Transcendent World.
Over time, Kaer Morhen had gained some renown, but no one would go so far as to believe Demon Hunters could become the mainstream of the Transcendent World.
Occasionally hearing some rumors would evoke nothing but a chuckle; no one took them seriously.
But that dragon, the splattering blood, and the surrounding devastated environment—all of it pointed to the fact that Kaer Morhen was far stronger than they had imagined.
Demon Hunters had deeper potential waiting to be unearthed.
So much so that Henrik found the likelihood of getting harassed while walking down the street had multiplied several times.
Unlike other Transcendents, Henrik had obtained many secret pieces of information from Roger. He knew this world wasn’t as simple as it seemed on the surface; behind it were those hidden Different Spaces.
There existed more powerful forces in greater numbers.
After a day of uproar and restlessness, night descended. As everyone drifted into sleep, a shadow quietly passed through the streets and arrived at the vicinity of the Tower of Shadows.
He scanned his surroundings and, finding nothing suspicious, silently slipped inside without a trace.
Compared to when Roger left, there were noticeable changes within the Tower of Shadows. Upon stepping inside, an overwhelming force suddenly struck him, causing his body to stumble. The concealed figure revealed his true appearance.
"Henrik, sir?"
Higurashi Chika looked puzzled. "Good thing I discovered it in time."
The girl silently put away the weapon in her hand.
After what had happened during the day, everyone had a metaphorical string tightly wound in their minds. Higurashi Chika was no exception. The Tower of Shadows had once been an unremarkable place, yet now it held two very special prisoners.
Henrik smiled awkwardly.
"I wasn’t feeling at ease, so I disguised myself to take a look around."
Higurashi Chika studied Henrik with some doubt. She was well aware of the friendship between Henrik and Roger, and she generally had no reason to question Henrik’s character.
Setting personal matters aside, he was relatively reliable.
A Demon Hunter at the peak of the Third Tier could certainly hold his own elsewhere, but in Kaer Morhen...
Well, the reasoning Henrik offered did seem strange and out of place, but Higurashi Chika didn’t press the matter further.
She’d heard plenty of rumors about this man—tales even more absurd than this one.
"Knowing you’re on guard here puts me at ease."
Henrik feigned seriousness as he scanned the surroundings. "That dragon and the one called Chachi are still inside, right?"
Higurashi Chika nodded.
"Chachi’s said everything he needed to. As for the dragon called Evans, he’s gravely injured. Most of his blood has been drained, and under the suppression of the world’s rules, he still hasn’t woken up."
"Good, good. I’ll go take a look."
"Need me to accompany you?"
"No, no... The night watch can’t do without you."
Henrik hurriedly refused.
"It’s my duty. If our teacher were here, that dragon would’ve been killed long before approaching."
"I’m still too weak."
The girl spoke as she tightened her grip on her sword.
After exchanging a few more words, Henrik pushed open a wooden door on the first floor and stepped inside.
Light and shadow swirled around him, and by the time everything returned to normal, Henrik found himself in a pitch-black hall.
At the center of the room, an utterly battered dragon was pinned to the ground, its limbs pierced through, and its wings were suspended by thick iron chains.
Beneath its massive body lay a faintly glowing Array.
The dragon’s size was imposing, yet its body appeared emaciated, its Dragon Scales dull and lifeless. It had lost too much strength, and its defensive power had drastically diminished.
Henrik circled Evans’s body with a serious look on his face.
Even though he was only at the Third Tier, he didn’t need to worry about a sudden counterattack from Evans—not with the rules of the world suppressing him, the bindings within the Tower of Shadows, and the surrounding restraints.
In his current state, Evans couldn’t even kill an ordinary human.
"This is a real Giant Dragon."
"Dragon Scales, Dragon Bones, Dragon Blood—all of these could be traded for unimaginable quantities of Transcendent Materials."
"And then..."
Following Evans’s body contours, Henrik’s gaze landed on a particular spot between the dragon’s legs.
"Hmm?"
Rubbing his eyes, Henrik double-checked.
"Female?"
"No, wait. The voice didn’t seem feminine during the day. Could it be that dragons don’t have genders?"
"No, no, that can’t be right. The one who came looking for Roger was definitely female."
Taking a deep breath, Henrik cautiously leaned in closer.
"Knock, knock."
He took out his bow blade and gave a few deliberate pokes. The sharp weapon sparked faintly against the Dragon Scales, but that was all.
Having been drained of so much blood, Evans’s Dragon Scales had long lost their original defensive strength.
Henrik furrowed his brow, probing repeatedly before finally confirming one thing.
