Chapter 932: Chapter 697: It’s Me, Still Me
"Need some healing herbs or treasures?"
Jora cast a puzzled glance at Roger. She had envisioned numerous possibilities, but never anticipated Roger’s request to be so simple.
After all, in her eyes, Roger was already immensely powerful. A Transcendent of such caliber might lack rare treasures, but ordinary items...
"Is it difficult?"
"N-no... not really."
"This isn’t a primary base, after all. The stored items are limited, and I fear they might not meet your needs."
Jora added humbly.
"It’s fine. I’ll make do with whatever you have."
Roger replied shamelessly. This was ideal—he wouldn’t have to worry about Jora imposing any limitations. He could take the chance to thoroughly comb through and seize everything that could be used for Sonia.
"You..."
Her eyes flickered with a hint of anger. At this moment, she heard Roger continue, "Also... how should we sever that special link?"
"Some things I can refuse once, twice, but I can’t go on rejecting indefinitely, can I?"
Jora inwardly seethed, wishing she could slap this man to death, but ultimately, she could only grit her teeth and say, "I’m still working on it—give me a bit more time."
"Alright then."
"But hurry." Roger displayed a troubled expression.
He wasn’t deliberately stirring Jora’s emotions out of boredom. Rather, before entering this place, Jora had actively brought up the matter of soul consciousness verification.
This was the aspect Roger was most concerned about. To prepare, he had leveraged the power of the Shadow Gate, projecting its energy onto Amanda, enveloping her completely.
Any external force attempting aggressive exploration would inevitably trigger backlash, creating an opening for Amanda to act.
This was merely a temporary measure, aiming to buy some time.
Yet now, Jora hadn’t even mentioned the investigation from earlier—Roger didn’t believe she’d forgotten it due to anger.
The most likely explanation was that she had already conducted a check using methods Roger didn’t understand but hadn’t obtained definitive results.
Under these circumstances, naturally, he had to provoke Jora, giving her something to occupy her efforts. If push came to shove, maybe he’d have to beat her into submission.
"Go on, go on." Jora waved at the elder standing beside her, "Take him to the underground storage."
"I want to go too!"
Amanda clung tightly to Roger’s arm, presenting an inseparable façade. Jora hesitated for a moment but ultimately nodded.
Just then, a blooming flower on the wall suddenly detached, igniting from its stem. Once the flames subsided, they revealed a youthful face projected within.
"Your Majesty the Queen, the area overseen by Loke has fallen!"
"It’s Heyman. He personally dispatched forces with unstoppable combat strength to destroy our defenses; now, ordinary people there are being slaughtered indiscriminately."
"However, he only massacred the common folk—the Transcendents are still under his control. A message from the area says he seeks an audience with you."
"Everyone is now furious—they hope you can lead us in a counterattack. Even if we can’t kill him, we must leave them with an unforgettable lesson!"
Behind the young man, faint commotion could be heard—it was clear he was merely a representative pushed to the forefront.
The average Transcendent was unaware that, beyond Heyman, a formidable black-robed figure from the Dragon Court had arrived in Sky City. Whether Jora went alone or rallied the crowd, the outcome wouldn’t significantly differ.
"Your Majesty..."
An elderly voice emerged. His deeply lined face was full of concern as the old man gently shook his head. He understood Jora’s past experiences and voiced adamant opposition.
The young man disregarded the surrounding interruptions. "Your Majesty, Heyman sent word: he simply wants to meet you. He promises that if you meet him, he will immediately release all captured Transcendents."
"In addition... he wishes to discuss the true whereabouts of Lady Dora."
"He instructed me to inform you that the one who left Ceylon Peak wasn’t truly Dora—he’s the only one who knows her actual location."
Upon hearing this, Roger’s pupils constricted sharply, though he kept a casual façade.
Jora didn’t turn to inquire. Instead, she stretched out her hand, and a simple map materialized in the air. Immediately, one section lit up and magnified.
It was the very region overseen by the captive Loke.
"Please proceed with caution," the elder advised once again.
But Jora didn’t speak, despite knowing full well it was a trap. This time, she had no choice but to step into it. As for the information Heyman mentioned, she didn’t take it too seriously.
Unbeknownst to Heyman, she had already located Dora.
Meanwhile, on the other side, despite his outward indifference, Roger began calculating rapidly in his mind.
He thought of one person—Chachi.
He had deceived Heyman, departing hurriedly at the time, leaving Chachi with no chance to escape. Faced with Heyman’s methods, Chachi likely revealed everything.
Through Chachi’s account, it wouldn’t be hard to deduce the before and after—the implication being that Heyman now possessed the coordinates of another world.
Could he have already dispatched someone there?
Roger’s heart tensed.
"Don’t act recklessly—traversing world barriers isn’t so simple," he reassured himself, gradually calming down to avoid making impulsive decisions amidst anxiety.
Taking the worst-case scenario, Chachi himself couldn’t have gone. If Heyman deployed agents for cross-world travel, they would certainly face constraints from the rules on the other side. That would ensure those remaining at Kaer Morhen a chance to deliver an unforgettable lesson to the invaders.
