Chapter 923: Chapter 692: Indirectly Criticizing through Insinuation_2

"Even someone like Chachi can manage to carve out a decent life."

"Geralt!"

Heyman clenched his fists tightly. A face flashed in his mind. He could accept failure, but not being played for a fool.

Spatial fissures, temporal sensory distortions, the timing of their appearance, and most critically, the aura similar to that of a Patrolman...

Yet Heyman hadn’t anticipated that the collision of all these elements would still lead to a misjudgment.

"What about the other intel?"

The middle-aged man lowered his head and relayed all the gathered information truthfully. Heyman’s eyes flickered as he finally pieced together the sequence of events.

"So that’s how it is!"

"Not long ago, Dora wasn’t trying to escape at all; she risked using Soul Transfer. And as luck—or misfortune—would have it, one of Geralt’s companions became a random target."

"In other words, Dora’s body is now hosting someone else’s soul. And Dora’s soul..."

Heyman pondered, a cruel gleam flashing in his eyes. "No one can humiliate me."

"Geralt, I will make you pay the price!"

"You, your friends, and the world behind you..."

Having sorted out his thoughts, Heyman’s expression returned to normal. He thought for a moment and commanded, "Bring me that Chachi."

"Tell him I want to know the location of that world, as well as the appearance of Geralt’s friend!"

In the face of the Rebel’s counterattack, Dora was unquestionably the First Ring of importance. Now it seemed that if one wanted to deal a devastating blow to this world’s Transcendent forces, Dora’s identity had become incredibly delicate.

Heyman faintly felt that the world coordinates Chachi could provide, along with the true identity of Geralt’s female companion, would become new leverage in his negotiations with Jora.

"My dear Jora, time will prove that my choice is the correct one."

"Perhaps you’d be willing to govern this world alongside me... I just need to think, what title would suit you best?"

"War?"

"Or wisdom?"

These small matters, Heyman handled discreetly, naturally avoiding any disturbance to the Patrolmen.

Of course, the most humiliating event for him was being deceived by Roger—a stain on his memory. If the Patrolmen were to find out, it would surely affect their evaluation of him.

Owning one world, yet stationed in the Dragon Court, Heyman felt he might now have an opportunity to rise even higher.

...

"Boom!"

The horn on Sonia’s forehead glowed brightly, blasting away a burly man who had attacked her. In one swift motion, she charged forward like a streak of lightning and slammed into him ferociously.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Amanda looked utterly at a loss as she withdrew her hand. Flames had already engulfed the surroundings, and the once-luxurious palace had collapsed into ruins.

"Damn it, you need to control your powers! Even if there’s a treasure hidden inside, nothing can withstand flames of this intensity!"

Amanda shrugged, feigning an effort to keep things under control, but the surrounding flames only burned fiercer as a result.

Sonia flicked her tail in exasperation. She couldn’t understand why, after waking up, Roger formally introduced everyone’s identities.

Strangely, however, every time she looked at this girl, a faint pain lingered on her back. At the same time, Amanda seemed increasingly unwilling to come near her.

Sonia couldn’t shake the suspicion that something significant had happened during her slumber. She had asked Roger about it several times, but whenever she raised the question, the girl always looked tense.

And Roger, for his part, avoided answering altogether.

"Oh, well. Whatever treasure burns in her flames can’t be that important anyway."

Sonia could only console herself with such thoughts.

"Anything new?" Roger’s form appeared out of thin air, blocking several individuals who had attempted to flee.

Receiving disappointing answers, the three did not linger in the area. They trudged through the snow, crossing the glistening peaks until they arrived at a hidden location.

Inside the cavern, Sonia noticed Roger’s body tremble briefly. A pitch-black shadow emerged behind him.

"Based on nearby legends and brief visits to a few Transcendents, it’s clear these individuals have nothing of real value."

"Certainly nothing that could help restore your power," Roger admitted with some frustration.

"I can give it a shot. Over the past few days, I’ve acclimated, and some of my strength has returned," Sonia offered.

Sonia wasn’t utilizing methods common in the Land of the Dragonborn. Half of the Array was drawn upon Amanda’s body, with the activation method already set.

If sufficient power could be harnessed, completing the remaining half would allow Amanda’s soul to be sent back to her own body effortlessly.

But alas, Sonia had underestimated the suppression of this world, making it evident that solving the problem in the short term was extremely difficult.

"Have you found anything?" Amanda asked.

She carefully avoided Sonia’s gaze. After learning Sonia’s true identity, Amanda could no longer act around her as she used to.

After all, many of the absurdities she and Roger had pulled revolved around Sonia.

It was akin to passionately pouring one’s heart out only to hear another’s voice emerge from under the bed during a tender confession.

"You two take your time; I’m heading out for some air..."

Utter shame and embarrassment.

Roger relayed everything his shadow had observed to the two of them.

"Something tremendous is about to happen in this world—possibly a war involving both Transcendents and ordinary people."

"Stay patient, and we’ll find our moment," he encouraged.

"What did you just say?"

Amanda gritted her teeth. "That Jora can sense every physical feeling I experience?!"

"Uh..."

"It’s just a theory, but quite likely, yes," Roger admitted sheepishly.

"You knew this all along, didn’t you!"

Amanda yelled furiously, flames erupting around her. The ice and snow in the cave instantly melted.

"No, absolutely not!"

"So I’ve been broadcasting myself live all this time?!"

"It’s not as bad as you think. It’s probably just sensation-sharing. Actually, Jora’s the one passively enduring it," Roger explained hurriedly.

After contemplating for a moment, Amanda’s furrowed brows relaxed slightly. "So, when we’re together, it’s like you’re simultaneously... beating up Jora?"

"Beating up"... Roger thought the phrase Amanda used was far too appropriate. After a moment of awkward silence, he reluctantly nodded.

"Excellent!" Amanda growled, stepping forward to wrap her arms around Roger’s neck.

"I have an idea."

"Let’s talk this through... now’s not the time!"

Truth be told, Roger was genuinely worried Amanda might do something outrageous.

"We can change our approach," she suggested.

"This world is unfamiliar to us—the information, the factions. If we keep searching aimlessly, not only is it inefficient, but we also risk exposing our identities."

She released Roger, stepped back a few paces, and turned to Sonia. "If we need artifacts imbued with world rules to restore Sonia’s power, there’s no one more suitable than Jora."

Amanda’s eyes lit up. "Dora is imprisoned at Serlon Peak. I overheard Heyman mention some details: the Soul Transfer was conducted in such secrecy that even Heyman didn’t notice."

"Judging from Jora’s attitude, she likely believes there was an error during the transfer—that I’m still Dora!"

Amanda pointed to her chest.

Roger’s eyes gleamed. "You mean..."

"Yes, we can try posing as Dora to approach her," Amanda explained.

"Given her identity and power, she must possess numerous artifacts. If we seize the chance, we can not only restore Sonia but also potentially help her reach new heights."

"The Fifth Tier!"

Even Sonia’s breathing quickened at the thought.

"No, such an operation is built on too many assumptions. If that woman..."

"Listen, Roger," Amanda interrupted. "I know there are significant risks, but we’re not entirely without chances."

"Besides, weren’t you considering approaching that woman anyway? Worst case, we’ll figure it out then."

Roger’s gaze wavered. The three exchanged glances, instantly aligning their thoughts.

"So... shall we give it a shot?"

Sonia nodded. Amanda smiled.

"Alright then," Roger said, spreading his hands.

"Now the only question is, how do we find this Jora?"

"That’s simple," Amanda replied with a grin, unfastening the top button of her blouse.

"Let her come find us."

"Ready, dear Roger?"

Roger: ...
