Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 917 - 689: Roger’s Cabin_2

Chapter 917: Chapter 689: Roger’s Cabin_2

In the depths of Roger’s consciousness surged chaos, with the only bright spot being a vaguely discernible house.

It wasn’t the Graveyard Cabin from the beginning, nor the strange Mist Hut, and not even the Shadow Cottage that had accompanied Roger as he grew and provided him immense support.

Even Roger himself couldn’t describe the detailed structure of this house, though it was clearly right in front of him, existing within his own mind.

Its familiarity was so profound that it surpassed his understanding of himself.

Yet, there seemed to be a peculiar barrier preventing him from seeing it clearly.

It was a peculiar closeness and distance, familiarity and strangeness.

Roger’s Cabin: LV1.

Status: Under construction.

[Advent] The cabin will become a haven for Demon Hunters in Another World.

A powerful Demon Hunter, you have uncovered a secret of the world, exploring and piecing together a shattered core.

It was a power that once transcended, now lost amidst destruction, leaving no traces behind.

The blurry cabin flickered in and out of existence, with the only clear feature being a door set into its front.

And a lantern hanging upon that door.

[Door]: Originating from the shattered core of a world, it conceals immense power. After extraction, it can serve as material to be integrated into a manifested physical body.

Upon reaching the Fifth Tier, its derived traits can be passed down as a bloodline rule.

Although the bulletin board didn’t provide detailed instructions, Roger could infer that this pitch-black door contained the extracted power of the Shadow World.

The main force in unlocking its potential, however, came from the Wings of Shadow obtained from Sonia.

If the Shadow Fragments Roger previously absorbed represented a magnitude of ten, then the power within the Wings of Shadow reached a scale of one hundred.

The energy contained within was far purer and more advanced than anything Roger had previously possessed.

After all, this was something that could become part of a Fifth Tier body as wings.

Besides this pitch-black door, Roger’s attention was drawn to another item: the lantern hanging on the door.

The light within the lantern was not particularly bright, yet it could illuminate far-off distances. A closer inspection revealed that the glow inside the lantern formed the hazy outline of an eyeball.

[Mist Lamp]: Derived from a fragment of the World Serpent’s pupil. According to legend, the gaze of the World Serpent could pierce all world barriers, even transcending planes to cast its sight into the unknown.

And this lantern stemmed directly from the Eye of Truth.

From its name alone, it was evident that the upgraded Hunter’s Cabin was no longer dependent on any world or power for its existence.

It was slowly transforming into something exclusively Roger’s own.

Becoming a part of Roger himself.

This upgrade appeared straightforward, but even after reading the information on the bulletin board multiple times, Roger only began to grasp the cabin’s immense potential after moving into the manor.

Though it was impossible to integrate the former Hunter’s Cabin with Another World and use it to teleport back to Kaer Morhen,

utilizing the Advent function, the manor Roger currently occupied, though still in the normal world, had become a unique space for him.

His powers could be concealed, his combat capability restored to its peak—had it not been for this feature, Roger wouldn’t have remained in the city for so long.

Some of the cabin’s more detailed functions required Roger to slowly explore them, but after adaptation, the most significant transformation—or enhancement—stemmed from the door and the lantern.

Hearing a faint noise, Roger stood up from the ground and regained control of his body. The cabin in the depths of his mind disappeared.

At the same time, both the door and the lantern transformed into beams of light and fused into Roger’s body.

His shadow returned to normal, a radiant gleam flashed in his eyes, but after a moment, the glow receded as well.

It wasn’t just a door, not just a shadow.

It was something Roger could fully control...

Fifth Tier combat power!

Not truly a Fifth Tier entity, but authentic Fifth Tier combat power, paired with the unique attributes of the Black Moon.

The combination was as powerful as a tiger growing wings.

Furthermore, even the grueling training Roger once endured could now be handed off entirely to his shadow. When the two fused, he naturally acquired all the experience the shadow gained during training.

Though it couldn’t think or act autonomously, this wasn’t a drawback at all—instead, it was its greatest strength.

This would become Roger’s most formidable weapon.

And this was also the foundation of his confidence in facing Jora’s assault!

And this was just one potential application. Roger was still exploring other possibilities, and the previous hints had sparked some hypotheses for him.

The shattered destruction...

What exactly had that world gone through?

Besides the door, the Mist Lamp formed from the Eye of Truth had also gained new functions.

This further deepened Roger’s sense of the cabin’s power.

But such power came at a cost. At the end of the bulletin board, Roger received a warning from the Hunter’s Cabin:

"Esteemed Demon Hunter, your strength has already drawn the attention of unknown entities. Every time you cross a world barrier, it causes violent tremors, inviting malevolent scrutiny."

"Complete the final High Mountain Trial, establish a solid foundation, and strive to collect World Fragments to strengthen yourself."

"Tomorrow holds great promise. Fight to survive!"

Roger recalled how Sword Master Cold Crow had compared his relationship with that unknown entity. Roger had originally thought all this was far removed from his reality.

Yet, when he broke through the world barrier and entered this one, he felt that gaze for the first time, followed shortly by the cabin’s ascension.

This seemed to mark a specific stage, but Roger had no knowledge of the entity’s identity or power, nor could he predict whether such attacks would occur every time the cabin ascended.

After the Fifth Tier, obtaining greater strength required frequent world traversal. But passing through barriers inevitably invited that malevolent gaze.

Even if Roger could find ways to obscure himself from that scrutiny, if he sought greater power, he would inevitably need to upgrade his Hunter’s Cabin.

And at that point...

This truly felt like a deadlock.

For several days, he’d racked his brain but couldn’t come up with a perfect solution. In the end, he set it aside, focusing for now on restoring Sonia’s strength and sending Amanda back to her original world.

Beyond that, he also needed to solve the issue of life itself.

After all, no one would complain about living longer.

As these thoughts occupied him, Roger quickly headed downstairs.

Amanda, having finished breakfast, was meticulously grooming herself in front of a mirror. Roger didn’t speak, leaning casually against the doorframe.

"Which of these two necklaces do you like?"

Amanda asked without turning around.

"You’d look good in either. That pearl one..." This is the kind of answer Roger would have given in the past. But now, while Amanda’s soul occupied the body,

that body belonged to another woman.

An odd kind of familiarity.

"Why aren’t you speaking?"

Amanda turned around.

"It’s nothing, I was just..."

Roger’s gaze flickered for a moment, and in the next instant, a soft arm draped over his shoulder.

A sudden force dragged Roger’s body to the side, leaving him defenseless.

"Aman..."

Roger barely managed to say a single syllable before the rest of his words were silenced by a fiery kiss.

"You..."

"Hmph, my dear Roger, your eyes have already betrayed your filthy thoughts."

Amanda sneered coldly.

"This time, consider yourself lucky."

Only now did Roger realize that Amanda had spent her entire morning dolling herself up for this moment.

Amanda’s soul, Dora’s body, and the latter was undeniably a true Giant Dragon Kind in this world.

Just imagining it sent a shiver of excitement through him.

But in that instant, Roger’s overwhelming survival instinct gave rise to another thought.

"Is this a seductive trap, or does she truly..."

However, he quickly dismissed the notion, as Amanda pounced on him with startling ferocity.

"A dragon’s body really is formidable."

"My dear Roger, you’d better watch out!"

Amanda’s voice carried out and startled the birds perched on nearby branches. Before long, the entire room had been reduced to shambles under the two rampaging forces.

When the chaos finally subsided, Roger noticed something at the heart of their battlefield: Sonia... no, wait.

She was now merely a unicorn.

Oh, Sonia, please forget everything we did while riding on your back.

But what Roger didn’t know was that, as their tumultuous battle raged on, deep in a secluded cave somewhere in the northern lands,

a disheveled Jora suddenly snapped her eyes open.

Her cheeks flushed, her body curled into a ball, and flames seemed to erupt from her gaze.

"Damn it, damn it, that man!"

"What have you done to Dora’s body... huh~~"
