Chapter 913: Chapter 687: Perform Well, the Organization Has High Hopes for You_2
"You..."
Sonia’s face was filled with shock, but before she could voice her question, Roger quickly said, "Hurry, see if you can break through the space!"
Meanwhile, the changes inside Ceylon Peak caught Heyman’s attention amidst the fierce battle. Alarmed, he knocked Jora back with his weapon, instantly shifting all his focus to the interior of Ceylon Peak.
Roger unleashed his full power, colliding head-on with Heyman’s consciousness in an overwhelmingly dominant manner.
"I am deeply disappointed!"
His tone was cold and imposing.
"The Dragon Court needs strong individuals—those who can persevere and break through adversity with unwavering conviction—not opportunistic trash!"
Roger’s words were laced with judgment, brimming with unapologetic mockery.
"What are you hesitating for? What are you doubting?"
"Harboring wishful thinking will only lead to your failure."
"Abandon all reservations, unleash your full power, and show me the strength you have as a Supervisor, as well as the vision from other seats!"
Heyman’s doubts settled, and a hint of excitement emerged on his face.
"So that’s the case. Lord Geralt has already grown dissatisfied with my prior deception. If I continue like this, failing to demonstrate my strength and usefulness... then this patrol—"
He couldn’t help but tremble slightly at the thought.
"What’s there to worry about? Since Lord Geralt has already spoken, all I need to do is give it my all. As for failure..."
"Jora is indeed stronger than me, but he’s not unbeatable. Besides, with Lord Geralt as my support, others won’t be able to approach Ceylon Peak either..."
"Even if, worst-case scenario, I truly can’t beat Jora, Lord Geralt wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing in a critical moment, right?!"
"Yes!" Battle fervor surged within Heyman’s heart as his weapon moved faster.
"Breaking the prohibition clears my obstacles. As expected... with no wishful thinking, I am even more focused!"
Seeing Jora retreat before him, Heyman’s confidence soared.
But he had no idea that Jora was deliberately suppressing his attacking intent after noticing Heyman hadn’t done anything further to Dora’s body.
Whew...
On the other side, Roger let out a long exhale. He had resorted to this desperate measure because he had no other choice; if exposed directly, he could only give it his best shot.
Fortunately, Heyman had many concerns, and the Dragon Court’s banner was resilient enough.
"How is it?"
"Not bad. For some reason, while certain restrictions were placed within this body, the confinement is incomplete. I should be able to clear it soon..."
"Moreover, if things go smoothly," Sonia lifted her head, "I might be able to directly start the ritual, exchange the souls, and send this girl back to our original world."
"Fantastic!" Roger’s face lit up with joy.
"How long will it take?"
"I’ll do my best." Sonia didn’t answer directly. The horn on her head began to glow, causing the surrounding energy to flow in a specific manner.
The exchange between the two was purely on the level of consciousness. Amanda had no idea about Sonia’s identity, but even if she did, she couldn’t spare the attention right now.
Her soul had been placed into an unfamiliar body, and with the successive injuries, Amanda’s state was extremely poor at the moment. Yet, she still tried her best to lift her head, staring directly at Roger.
"Damn it, how many times has this happened?"
"I am always so useless."
To avoid raising Heyman’s suspicions, Roger didn’t approach her. He remained where he was, using mental energy to soothe Amanda’s emotions while keeping an eye on the battle outside.
Heyman’s bravery was short-lived, and he soon fell into disadvantage. Though they were of the same level, their combat styles were vastly different.
Heyman was relatively conservative, while Jora was far more unpredictable.
Roger could tell that Heyman’s defeat was only a matter of time, and he had no choice but to speak up again to give Heyman a bit of mental encouragement.
Facts proved that mental encouragement was useful for any creature.
Heyman regained his vigor and fought fiercely.
Time passed slowly, and Roger grew increasingly anxious.
"How much longer?"
Unable to hold back, he asked.
"Right now!"
Boom!
The entire space lit up brightly. The flowing energies formed intricate runes, while the vibrations in the air created unique sounds.
Though Roger couldn’t understand their meaning, he was reminded of a certain language Amanda had mentioned during her awakening.
It should have been exclusive to the Dragonborn.
Sonia pawed the ground with all four hooves. Her horn shone brighter and brighter. Just when Roger thought everything was about to succeed, the space trembled, and all the runes shattered.
Sonia was blasted away by a massive force.
"How could this happen?" Struggling to stand, Sonia staggered to her feet.
"Everything was fine! I can try again! I’ll succeed next time!"
With a low roar, she began mobilizing the energy around her once more.
"Stop trying; it will kill you."
Roger restrained Sonia.
After all, she was a formidable Transcendent, almost incapable of making basic mistakes. The failure of the ritual in front of them could only boil down to one reason.
Power.
Sonia’s strength had been heavily suppressed by the world rules, leaving her with very little remaining. This amount of power simply wasn’t enough to handle such a complex ritual.
"We have to leave now."
"I can try one more time." Sonia was still reluctant to give up.
"No, we need to leave immediately. The battle over there is nearing its conclusion. If we wait for the final outcome, it will be too late."
Roger soothed Sonia’s emotions, "Let’s leave here first, find a way to restore your strength, and then plan our next steps."
Given the current situation deviating greatly from their original plan, Sonia’s power had now become irreplaceable. Staying here was simply unwise.
Roger didn’t believe he could face two Fifth Tier opponents, especially when his own identity was also a ticking time bomb.
"Fine... alright."
Sonia agreed with Roger’s decision. At this point, Roger didn’t hesitate further. He moved to place the unconscious Amanda onto Sonia’s back.
Then, he unleashed a burst of energy, breaking through the connection point in the void.
By now, Sky City was already in shambles. Heyman and Jora were utterly consumed by their fight, oblivious to the changes occurring near Ceylon Peak.
Roger activated the Eye of Truth, picked a direction, and transmitted the information into Sonia’s consciousness.
The unicorn carrying Amanda galloped away, while Roger waited a while before choosing to leave.
"Get out of my way!"
Heyman was fully engrossed in his battle. "Lord Geralt hasn’t spoken for a while now—my performance must have impressed him."
In order to fully display his abilities, Heyman opted for an extravagant fighting style. However, his prolonged offense gradually pushed him into disadvantage.
"It doesn’t matter," Heyman thought. He had practically calculated how many more strikes it would take before Jora defeated him, yet he remained unconcerned.
Because he believed that Lord Geralt from the Dragon Court would surely step in at the critical moment.
At that moment...
Five... four... three...
The time came!
Even knowing that defeat was inevitable, Heyman still managed to strike a flawless combat pose.
"Alright, this is the end."
He smiled faintly.
That smile carried an eerie quality in Jora’s eyes.
During the latter part of the battle, Heyman had acted unusually, giving up threats against Dora—a behavior completely out of character.
And now, as he faced imminent defeat, he bore an enigmatic smile.
Jora’s heart tightened, and she instinctively pulled her power back slightly. "Something’s wrong—deeply wrong!"
She knew Heyman all too well. A man as paranoid as him must have hidden tricks she wasn’t aware of.
Though wary, Jora still thrust her weapon forward.
And then...
Thud!
The blade pierced through the defense, stabbing into Heyman’s body.
For a moment, time seemed to freeze.
The attacker and the target were both momentarily stunned.
"What was that sound? Did I just get stabbed?"
Tens of thousands of questions raced through Heyman’s mind; he even reflexively turned back to look for Roger’s figure, only to find nothing there.
What shocked him even more was the sight inside Ceylon Peak...
"Ahh...!" Only then did Heyman manage to let out a scream, which also snapped Jora out of her daze.
With a flash of movement, Jora abandoned her attempt to capitalize on her victory. In the distance, the space fractured, revealing an internal void.
"Dora!"
Faced with collapsed pillars and shattered chains, confusion clouded Jora’s face. It wasn’t long though before realization struck her. With sharp eyes locking onto a direction, she swiftly fled, leaving the bloodied Heyman behind.
"What happened?"
"Lord Geralt, he..."
At that instant, not far behind Heyman, the void tore apart. A figure appeared out of thin air.
"What happened?"
A commanding yet doubtful voice echoed.
Heyman whipped around abruptly. "Who goes there?!"
"Hmph, you’re the most incompetent Supervisor I’ve ever seen."
"What?"
Doubt flickered across Heyman’s face, but soon, realization dawned.
"Geralt, you son of a #@%!"
