Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 890 - 676: Shatter Delusion

Chapter 890: Chapter 676: Shatter Delusion

After fully merging with Lilith, a part of Anna’s essence was permanently altered, and over time, she developed some peculiar habits.

For instance, she developed a preference for dark places... Of course, this was a trait she had adhered to for a long time, but now it had deepened—she preferred to stay underground. If her resting place was an exquisitely decorated coffin, it couldn’t be more ideal.

So, when she saw the gift prepared by the tribe’s female leader, even though her face betrayed little emotion, a flicker of something in her eyes revealed her current mood.

Anna knew full well that Salam would come looking for her, yet she chose not to leave. When she had left Armenia, it was partly because she had been bound for far too long and yearned to begin a life truly her own.

On the other hand, Anna also hoped to better understand herself during her journey. If she could find a chance to repair the shattered magic mirror, it would be all the better.

And indeed, she succeeded.

Having seen the opulent world, condensed the century-long changes of time into mere months, Anna still chose seclusion—which in itself spoke volumes.

More importantly, on this mystical continent, she discovered a way to repair the magic mirror. And that, above all else, was the reason she stayed for so long.

Now only the final step remained. She needed to steady her mind and push her powers to their peak, preparing meticulously for the finishing touch.

Nearby, there was no place more suitable than the underground, accompanied by an elegant coffin.

The night was deep, the breeze brushing against the leaves, creating a soft rustling sound.

Although she could easily create a cavern with her abilities, for some reason, in this particular circumstance, Anna chose to do it herself.

She even sought out some tools from the tribe.

And so, under the cover of night, a Fourth Tier Transcendent began digging her own grave.

For none other than herself.

She intended to repair the magic mirror, resolve Salam’s interference completely before leaving South America, and then...

She halted in her actions, looking off in a specific direction.

"Perhaps it’s time to go back for a visit."

There were no relatives waiting there, but it was the only place in this world that could barely be called home. And also...

At that moment, a voice suddenly came from not far behind Anna.

"What are you doing?"

In the blink of an eye, every muscle in Anna’s body tensed, her eyes turned a deep crimson, her hair lengthened, and her aura surged explosively.

For someone to approach her so closely without detection was unthinkable.

"Burying a corpse?"

A vaguely familiar scene flashed through her mind. Anna froze briefly, and only then did the familiarity in the voice catch up with her senses.

Her heart swirled with countless questions, yet instinctively, Anna turned around. And then, under the silvery moonlight, she saw that familiar boy.

No, he could no longer be called a boy now.

His frame was strong and shoulders broad. His face still bore traces of the past, but there was now an air of maturity and confidence that hadn’t been there before.

"Ro... Roger?"

Anna’s expression was awash with disbelief. She even wondered if she had fallen victim to some unknown spell. "What are you doing here?"

"You..."

Her heart surged with a kaleidoscope of emotions, but in this moment, Anna was at a loss for words. After all, her past held so many blanks.

"If I told you this was merely a fateful meeting, would you believe me?"

Roger chuckled, his entire demeanor inexplicably at ease.

Anna looked slightly different from when she had left, and Roger could guess at some of the reasons behind it. Yet, in the details of her eyes and expression, she was still the same Specter who once wandered the graveyards.

The woman before him was far too unique to Roger.

Even though, before parting, the two had shared a connection that went beyond the bounds of friendship, such things were commonplace—not only in the Transcendent World but even in the real-filled Western World.

But Anna’s uniqueness lay elsewhere.

She had been there at Roger’s weakest moments, repeatedly saving his life at critical junctures. She had borne witness to his transformation from an ordinary human to a Transcendent.

The two had fought side by side and even sacrificed for one another—a bond vastly different from what he shared with Amanda or Goway.

"It seems you haven’t been doing very well. Have you fallen so far as to make a living digging graves at night?"

Roger quipped with a smile.

Anna merely smiled faintly without saying a word.

She had always been like this.

"How’s your journey been?"

"When do you plan to go back for a visit?"

Roger gestured as he spoke.

"I’ve built a new place. There’s a fairly nice castle atop a mountain, and at the foot of it, a vast cemetery. I think you might find it interesting."

Roger’s invitation came through his words, albeit subtly.

Everyone has their own choices to make. As an Otherworldly Visitor, and with his growing power, Roger was filled with questions about his origins as well.

From beginning to end, Roger maintained a unique distance from this world and those around him—a closeness that wasn’t too close, yet a distance that wasn’t too distant.

At that moment, he suddenly understood the spirit of that Demon Hunter world, whether real or imagined—the consuming passion, the sacrifices for comrades and lovers.

Yet, there was also an unspoken restraint between them, rendering them unable to fully give themselves over to their feelings.

Every individual was free and had the right to choose their path in life. Though Roger wished for Anna to stay, he had no intention of using their shared emotions as a bargaining chip.

Naming the castle "Kaer Morhen" was, on one hand, a playful sentimentality. On the other hand, it was a sincere hope that the place could become a sanctuary for all friends.
