Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 372 - Chapter 372 Chapter 372 Obstacle

Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Obstacle Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Obstacle Engelman.

This is a metropolis where the ancient and modern blend together, and in the entire European continent, Engelman has been the undeniable heart of Europe in every era.

The damp and somewhat gloomy sky, the turbulent Thames River, flowers and knights, oaths and churches–in this era of technology, it’s hard for a city to retain such a heavy historical flavor as Engelman does.

It is not only the heart of modern Europe, but also the center of convergence for Transcendents.

Unlike New Moon City, which exists underground, in Engelman, the Transcendent World and the real world are almost one and the same.

Clack clack!

Margaret, wearing a pair of crystal shoes, walked as the September climate of Engelman gradually began to cool. However, she seemed utterly indifferent to the slight changes in the outside temperature.

She would much rather spend her extra time and energy on exquisite food and meticulous attire.

She carefully lifted her golden gown, sauntering lazily through the woodland path in the afternoon sun.

“Every year at this time, I return to Engelman. Do you know why?”

“Please enlighten me, Teacher,” said the woman following close behind Margaret, a remarkably beautiful but seemingly unlovable female.

“I like the sunshine of Engelman in this season–warm yet not too dazzling, just like our existence to the common folk.”

“Often overlooked, yet indispensable.”

“And Amanda?” Margaret asked nonchalantly, lifting her head.

“After she returned, she plunged into intense study. Amanda is making astonishing progress; I think it won’t be long before we can prepare her for the next stage of her studies.”

Her words revealed a hint of barely discernible envy.

“For Magicians, lineage often matters more than effort.”

Margaret suddenly stopped, “Don’t be discouraged, Cynthia. You are also exceptional. There is no need to compare yourself with Amanda; compared to her, most of the Magicians you know are fools.”

The dark red wooden door engraved with purple-gold petals opened slowly, the glazed tiles on the dome reflecting dazzling light. Margaret’s body passed through a transparent ripple of water, her palm trembling slightly as a message was sent into the depths of the hall.

It wasn’t long before Amanda appeared before Margaret, dressed in red.

“Teacher, you wanted to see me?”

The Energy in Amanda’s body was almost uncontrollable; even just standing there one could feel the heat emanating from her.

Margaret frowned, “Your progress is rapid, Amanda. I hope you can rest properly. Your body needs to grow and adapt.”

But Amanda stubbornly shook her head, “Not yet, I haven’t reached my limit. I’m too weak now.”

“Go relax. Indiscriminate stimulation of your lineage isn’t very beneficial. Perhaps you could try interacting with other Magicians–intense exchange. The Resonance between different lineages will stimulate the growth of your own power.”

“Tonight, the Sorcerer’s Brotherhood is sending a batch of new trainees to Engelman for exchange. Among these people, a few have quite good potential.”

“Dress up nicely, and show those arrogant fools what a true genius looks like.”

Margaret appraised Amanda as one would a prized creation.

“I’d prefer to skip such boring parties. Time wasted there could be spent training.” Amanda declined Margaret’s suggestion without hesitation.

Margaret’s stride halted, “Amanda, I hope you understand that such exchange is beneficial for you and for me.”

A flash of red gleamed in Amanda’s pupils.

“Teacher, is this your command?” As her breath fluctuated, the temperature in the air seemed to rise a notch.

“Of course not.”

Margaret smiled broadly.

“I’m doing this for your own good.”

“I’m sorry, Teacher, but I don’t want to go.”

Amanda stepped back half a step.

“I yearn to become stronger, as strong as you!”

Amanda performed a Magician’s courteous gesture, slowly retreating.

Margaret’s gaze flickered; she pondered as she watched Amanda retreat, “I really didn’t misjudge you. Go on down, and strive hard.”

Watching Amanda’s figure disappear at the end of the great hall, Margaret turned around nonchalantly and passed through the barrier, stepping outside the hall.

The sky, which had been bright and sunny just a moment ago, had now become overcast, mirroring Margaret’s mood at this time.

“Teacher…”

Cynthia hesitated.

“Do you know why I only stay in Engelman for a very short time each year?”

Without waiting for Cynthia to reply, she continued, “Here, the sunlight is warm, but it lasts too short a time.”

Under the overcast sky, Margaret’s golden gown seemed to lose some of its brilliance.

“Teacher, about tonight’s banquet.”

“You go. Pick a few more young and sensible people, to liven up the scene.”

Margaret plucked a flower, brought it to her nose and gently inhaled. With a deep breath, the blooming flower instantly withered away.

“Last time she went on a mission, Amanda had been to Eld’s Blair County, and there she met a man.”

“A man, right?”

Margaret said nonchalantly.

“Yes, Teacher.”

“That’s really disappointing. It seems that Amanda’s last Awakening Ceremony wasn’t thorough.”

She let go of her hand, and the withered flower turned to ash, scattering in the wind.

“Go and help her.”

“We need a strong female sorceress, not a woman who is only in heat!”

“Emotions… they’re just a burden.”

On the lawn of the manor, Roger was holding the Cursed Sword in one hand, moving swiftly, his weapon striking the air around him like a fierce storm.

The swishing sound of the blade cutting through the air formed a continuous hiss, eventually coming together to emit a sound like that of a hissing snake.

Click.

From motion to stillness, Roger sheathed his sword, the sharp sensation like that of a needle’s point instantly disappearing.

“I’m just a little short of grasping the Secret Technique of the snake.”

Roger was in no rush. After returning, he took a brief rest, then threw himself into adapting to his new powers and practicing his swordsmanship.

Hunter’s Cabin had risen two levels; besides the Quinn Dharma Seal, the Alder Dharma Seal had also been enhanced by one level.

[Alder]:LV2

When using the Alder Dharma Seal, powerful energy not only repels the enemy but also forms a Mind Movement Blast, tearing wounds and creating a shattering effect.

The Hunter’s Cabin provided only the most basic enhancement; proper application in battle would require Roger’s slow exploration. However, through secret practice, Roger had felt the significant change brought about by one level’s increase of the Dharma Seal.

His control over the Dharma Seals had become more delicate, but there was still much room for improvement.

Roger had also begun the renovation plans for the dilapidated manor–having money makes things easier. Following the renovation’s progress, it wouldn’t be long before the manor would be fully refurbished.

In another manor not far away, with Henrik’s help, things were gradually getting on the right track.

“I say, Roger, you keep telling me this manor belongs to a brother and sister, but for several days in a row, I’ve only seen that sour-faced Dilio; where is his beautiful sister?”

Henrik complained with a frown.

Roger calmly replied, “To be honest, I hope you never meet her.”

“Why?”

Henrik was puzzled.

“Because I’m afraid you would get hurt.”
