Chapter 369 - Chapter 369 Chapter 369 Scapegoat

Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Scapegoat Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Scapegoat In the depths of the forest.

Roger handed a key to the girl.

“This is the key to control the Candy House,” he said.

He smiled and patted Greta’s head, “From now on, the Candy House is yours.”

“That’s fantastic!”

The girl hung the key around her neck and carefully put it away.

She tilted her head and looked at Roger.

“Kind sir, would you like something to eat?”

“Uh…”

Remembering everything that had happened in the forest that night, Roger did not hesitate to shake his head.

“No, thanks, I’m full.”

After bidding farewell to the girl, Roger turned around and left the forest. As he walked, the scenery around him gradually changed, and by the time he realized it, he had unwittingly left the Fairy Tale World.

Just then, two pages slowly floated down from the sky.

[8–Candy House]

The other page was quite peculiar, not the lightly yellowed color with a sense of age but emitting a shiny silver light.

Roger’s heart leaped with joy, knowing he had obtained a page of the Silver Manuscript.

The next second, the story of the Candy House merged with the silver manuscript, and the color of the silver manuscript seemed to become brighter.

“Although the process was a bit convoluted, there wasn’t much danger,” Roger climbed to the top of the nearest tallest tree and looked around, only to discover he was completely lost in the depths of the forest.

“Was the danger mentioned by the Mountain Woman in reference to my strength at that time?” Roger murmured to himself.

After determining the location of the manuscript, he didn’t immediately take action but assimilated a Hunter’s Cabin instead, which caused his spiritual power to surge and his strength to make a breakthrough.

While Roger was observing his surroundings, he was completely unaware of the transformation happening to a large tree not far behind him.

A trunk thick enough for five people to embrace split from the middle, and it seemed as if all the essence of the ancient tree was completely stripped away. From within the parted trunk, a figure with a deer’s head slowly walked out.

Looking up, it laid eyes on Roger standing at the top of the tree.

“Teacher, we made it out,” said Evelyn, who didn’t care about the dirt on her hands and wiped her face with them. The mix of mud and sweat made her fair complexion look filthy.

Felling the breath of the woods around him, Azumani took a long breath and then sat down against a large tree.

He had survived the ordeal, but he couldn’t feel any joy.

With nothing in his hands, without the fairytale manuscripts, he couldn’t trade for the books and materials he wanted.

He was a Druid, stuck at the Second Tier. If he couldn’t advance further, he would ultimately die in this aged body.

Listening to nature, sensing vitality, and then they could become the watchers and Guardians of nature.

It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that Druids of the first two tiers, despite having various Spells at their disposal, were mostly used for support and their combat strength was much less compared to Blood Hunters and Magicians of the same tier.

Only after entering the Third Tier could they gain a significant power increase!

Druids revere nature, but Azumani clearly only liked the vitality within nature and despised the death it entails.

“Teacher, what do we do now?”

“Steve died in this operation, after we go back…”

“Didn’t you quite hate his relentless bothering?” Azumani waved his hand indifferently.

“The Transcendent World is cruel. Individual sacrifices are understandable,” Azumani said, feeling a bit irritated.

He looked up from this angle, and he could vaguely make out something special.

“Teacher…”

Evelyn had also noticed the oddity in Azumani’s gaze. This woman was very smart. She didn’t mention Azumani’s previous escape but instead stepped forward.

As their eyes met in the safety of their surroundings, the tension and danger previously experienced were thrown to the back of their minds, and the huge emotional turbulence made them both eager to vent something.

His breathing became rapid, the air filled with an ambiguous scent.

Yet, just as the two were enacting the primal scenery of nature, high above on the branches, a little bird rotated its eyeballs, watching this absurd scene unfold.

On the other side of the woods, Steve clenched his fists in agony.

Indeed, he had almost been killed by the Witch’s trap in the palace, but Anna, who happened to pass by, casually saved him. Later, when the battle broke out, he hid in advance and didn’t meet anyone.

Confusedly leaving the Fairy Tale World, he first controlled a flying bird in the woods.

But unexpectedly, the first scene he witnessed through the bird’s senses was so indecent.

“I’m not dead yet!”

“So I’ve been given up on just like that?”

Unaware of what had happened on the palace dome, Steve mistakenly thought he was caught in the crossfire due to aware of the secret affair between Azumani and Evelyn.

But just as he was overcome with anguish, his shoulder suddenly grew heavy and severe pain hit him, followed by a voice restrained with fury.

“Steve, right?”

“Where’s that old coot Azumani?”

Turning slightly, Steve saw Layhader’s angry face.

Meanwhile, amidst intense battle, Azumani felt the vivid vitality within himself. Only at moments like this could he forget his age and obtain temporary numbness.

Azumani, caught up in the fierce fight, forgot his surroundings, not realizing that a spike was slowly approaching from the ground not far behind him!

At the advent of his peak moment, an attack suddenly struck!

Chills ran down his spine, his hairs stood on end, and in the instant he was attacked, Azumani barely managed to activate his body’s defenses, but even so, caught off guard, he was still sent flying by a powerful force, slamming into a large tree several meters ahead!

The next second, a figure descended from the sky and brutally stomped onto his chest!

Crack!

With his breastbone broken, Azumani coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood, and seeing Layhader’s furious eyes, he was slightly taken aback.

“You’re still alive?”

The reason Azumani let his guard down after leaving the Fairy Tale World was because atop the dome he heard from the Witch herself about the fate of Layhader and the others.

But unexpectedly, Layhader was still alive!

“I’d rather be dead myself!”

Layhader bent down and punched Azumani in the mouth.

“Shut your mouth.”

“I don’t want to hear you chanting a Spell!”

“Bang, bang, bang!”

Blow after blow, until all of Azumani’s teeth were knocked out.

He turned to look at Evelyn, who was still half-lying on the ground.

“Get dressed and come over here!”

Layhader gripped Azumani’s neck tightly.

“Where are the Fairytale Manuscripts? Hand them over to me!”

Because of Azumani’s entrapment, Layhader and the others had been nearly dragged into a monster’s den, turning this mission into a bloodbath.

Despite Layhader’s strength, he couldn’t save everyone.

“I don’t have the manuscripts; someone else took them.” With his teeth fallen out, Azumani struggled to speak.

“You think I’d believe that?”

Layhader sneered viciously.

“If you don’t talk, I’ll beat you until you do!”

Thinking of his dead comrades, Layhader’s rage surged, throwing punch after heavier punch.

“Don’t try to fool me, Steve already told me everything.”

In Azumani’s astonished gaze, his vision was completely filled by the iron fists.
