Chapter 319: Chapter 319 Grandma’s Home Chapter 319: Chapter 319 Grandma’s Home “Phew…”
In the forest, Valerie led the way, with Rober and Inola closely following behind.
While running, Valerie occasionally curved her bow and shot arrows, driving the monsters in the darkness back.
The moment they were about to be surrounded, Valerie didn’t choose to fight. Instead, she identified a gap and dashed out with the greatest speed.
“Don’t go toe-to-toe with these monsters in the nighttime forest; there are far too many of them. Unless you can kill all the monsters at once, you’ll soon be torn to pieces by the beasts that swarm you,”
Valerie explained.
Meanwhile, Rober and Inola exchanged glances behind her.
“Does Sipigeng still possess the ability to control the creatures of the forest?”
Rober asked, puzzled.
Inola shook her head slightly. According to the known information, Sipigeng could communicate with the surrounding environment and even control plants to some extent.
But what about the other monsters active in the forest?
While running, the two didn’t think much of it. With Rober’s ability, he could indeed easily kill the common Werewolf, but if their numbers increased, slip-ups were inevitable.
In fact, this was only part of the reason. More importantly, Rober was unwilling.
He looked at Valerie’s soft waist and prominent features as she ran ahead, and his heart couldn’t help but flutter.
“It would be best to go somewhere safe, somewhere without interruptions.”
He was thinking this when suddenly he heard Inola behind him ask, “Where are you taking us?”
Just after a short run, she had already lost track of their surroundings.
“To Grandmother’s house,”
“It’s too far from the village. We’ll go to Grandmother’s house first,”
“There are three special White Oak Trees at the entrance of her house, and the fence around it has also been specially treated. We’ll be safe there,”
Valerie said as she turned her head back while running, releasing three arrows with her curved bow. Two missed their mark, but the last arrow hit a Werewolf mid-stride.
The arrow lodged in its skull, and the Werewolf howled, its bloodlust ignited, and its speed increased even more.
It caught up in just a few steps and leapt toward Inola who was following behind.
At this critical moment, Inola didn’t panic. She sped up, kicked off a large tree beside her, and leapt into the air, her body twisting as her hands crossed over each other.
Her spiritual power highly focused, the temperature soared in the next second as flames burst forth from her palms.
“Boom!”
The blaze ignited the fur of the Werewolf, and Inola, using the recoil, rolled on the ground to her feet and quickly caught up with Rober ahead.
Not long after, the light of a Lantern flickered in and out of view deep in the woods.
“That’s the place, let’s hurry!”
The last distance was covered without incident, and the three of them climbed over the fence, approaching the three oak trees that Valerie had spoken of.
Inola focused her senses and indeed, among these three large trees, a special energy pulsated.
Looking around, the Werewolves that had been following them had vanished without a trace, the surroundings were silent except for the rustling leaves and the creaking sounds of the swaying Lantern.
“Grandma, I’ve come to see you,”
Valerie knocked on the door.
“The door’s unlocked, come in,”
An elderly voice came from inside.
“I’m sorry, Grandma, I accidentally lost the food in the basket,”
Valerie apologized.
In that situation, it was naturally not feasible for her to carry a basket.
“Come in and rest. The wild beasts are lurking around. It will probably be a long time before they disperse.”
Valerie extended an invitation.
Inola hesitated, but Rober seemed somewhat excited. He rubbed his hands together and followed Valerie.
The room was dim.
Moonlight filtered through the window, but it only lit a small area.
The furnishings inside were simple: a dining table and chairs, and the wooden floor bore some brown stains. There was a faint odd smell in the air.
At the far end of the room was a bed with curtains, from which heavy breathing could be heard. Rober shivered, “Your grandmother seems to be very ill?”
He asked tentatively.
“Hmm…”
Valerie lowered her head.
Silently leaning forward, Rober suddenly noticed a gray tail protruding from under the edge of the curtains!
Entering the forest, Roger and Amanda hastened to their destination at full speed. Roger was surprised to find that Amanda’s physical strength had also skyrocketed after the Awakening Ceremony.
Although she wasn’t on par with hunters of the same level, considering their respective areas of expertise, Roger could still appreciate the Magician’s power.
As they drew closer to their goal, they became more vigilant. Roger focused his attention, his yellow vertical pupils revealing every little detail around them.
“Strange?”
Roger even spotted some unexpected clues amid the disorderly traces.
“These seem to be Rober and Inola’s footprints.”
Roger pointed to a shallow mark on the ground.
Rober’s way of moving was distinctive, which made it easy for Roger to recognize.
“What are they doing here?”
“Does your mission’s path overlap with theirs?”
Amanda shook her head, her eyebrows knitted as if she’d realized something.
Meanwhile, Matt, who was leading two Reserve Knights, also noticed something was amiss.
“Strange, why haven’t we entered that area yet?” Matt muttered to himself.
“Or have we entered, and I just haven’t noticed?”
With that thought, he blew a silent whistle.
Matt was both a guide and a protector to the two Reserve Knights.
Although he couldn’t guarantee their safety entirely, he could minimize casualties to the greatest extent possible.
To Matt’s surprise, he soon received a response from Layhader.
“What exactly is the problem?”
Matt became more alert.
“Wait a second!”
No sooner had he spoken than, before the two Reserve Knights could react, the ground burst and tree roots sprung forth like the tentacles of an octopus, entangling one of the knights. With a powerful jerk, the roots flung him through the air!
The other knight tried to grab his comrade, but the roots’ strength was unimaginably great, and as they pulled at each other and were lifted to the apex, they were dragged deep into the forest.
“There’s trouble!”
Matt immediately reacted, sending three sharp tones ringing across the entire area.
“Emergency rescue?!”
Layhader’s face changed slightly. If they didn’t kill the monsters within, the fable wouldn’t end–what on earth had happened at Matt’s location?
He gestured, and several knights gathered around him. “Come with me, there’s trouble at Matt’s position.”
Matt followed in the direction where the two Reserve Knights had vanished, and in his haste, he failed to notice an old tree standing beside him slowly open its eyes.
