Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 245 - Chapter 245 Chapter 245 Ivys Hiding Place
Chapter 245: Chapter 245 Ivy’s Hiding Place Chapter 245: Chapter 245 Ivy’s Hiding Place “There is one, but I haven’t been there much,” the young boy said as he ruffled his unkempt hair.
“Monsters roam the wilderness, so people rarely leave the village unless necessary,”
the boy replied.
“Is New Moon City far from here?”
Roger asked.
“New Moon City? It might be a distant place. I’ve heard that the city walls are very high, and it’s quite safe inside.”
“However, the only passage from the village to New Moon City is guarded by the people of New Moon City. They don’t let us get close, and everywhere else is full of monsters, so I don’t really know what New Moon City is like.”
“I’ve heard Old Hank went there when he was young. It’s not dangerous there and there’s plenty of food.”
A hint of longing appeared on the boy’s face.
“The clothes you were wearing just now, you stole them from those outsiders, right?”
A mysterious smile appeared on the boy’s face, “I have a set like that too.”
He waved at Roger.
“Come with me, I’ll show you!”
On the other hand, Old Hank appeared to have finished negotiating with the Demon Hunters, and the result seemed to be less than perfect.
After some thought, Roger followed the young boy along a small path behind the village and into the nearby woods.
However, the forest was not dense with vegetation; rugged rocks were everywhere, and the scene was bare. Stepping into it, they felt an eerie and fearsome atmosphere.
“I discovered this place a few months ago by chance.”
Following the young boy’s lead, they squeezed through narrow gaps resembling a labyrinth and arrived at a dark cave.
He followed the boy carefully, his muscles tensed, ready to react to any sudden occurrences.
Igniting a torch, they groped their way along a pitch-black path until soon they saw a light in the distance.
Surprisingly, a crack had formed in the ceiling of the cave, allowing a sliver of light to penetrate through.
“This is the place!”
The boy set his torch aside, excitedly pointing at the rather small space in front of them.
A woman’s diving suit was hanging on the wall, and next to it was a large backpack with contents strewn about.
Roger noticed a string of letters sewn onto the backpack.
“Ivy.”
If he wasn’t mistaken, this backpack was once a gift from Kant to Ivy.
Seeing these items, Roger understood why Ivy, unlike the monster, wasn’t crushed to bits when passing through the narrow crevice.
Clearly, her equipment and the sizable backpack absorbed some of the impact for her.
Still, the damage on the diving suit indicated that Ivy had sustained significant injuries crossing that path.
In a spot illuminated by the light from above, Roger saw traces of a mysterious ritual.
“She must have healed her injuries here and completed the initial ritual to transform her body into a half-human form.”
“How about that?”
A hint of pride appeared on the boy’s face, “The clothes you’re wearing look somewhat similar to this one.”
“Besides you, I haven’t told anyone.”
He happily pulled out some items from the backpack, showing them to Roger one by one, his expression genuine and animated.
Roger found it hard to believe that all the people he had seen in the fishing village were generated from this Cursed Land.
That included himself, of course.
A body that had accidentally entered the real world from Cursed Land, and a soul from the Otherworld.
Roger shook his head in resignation, such a combination would bring big trouble if it ever came to the Hunters Guild’s knowledge…
There was a moment when a surge of killing intent even burst within his heart.
“If I kill Dickinson, who knows my identity…”
“No, that’s not right!”
Roger quickly calmed down.
“Things shouldn’t be that simple. If he made a wrong decision on impulse, the consequences could really be unpredictable.”
After healing her wounds and secretly completing the ritual here, Ivy left this place and returned to the real world.
She had originally planned to return here with the Soul Transference Book to continue strengthening her power.
But who would have thought that because of this book, a twist of fate would end her life.
Having lived in one place all along and also identifying with Roger’s identity, the young man had nothing to hide, answering almost every question Roger asked.
Unfortunately, much of what he did know was also very limited.
When Roger left the cave, the sky had already turned dark, and he found an excuse to part ways with the young boy.
The passage in and out of the Cursed Land was critical, and Roger did not wish for it to be discovered by others.
As night fell, he decided to survey the surroundings.
It was an unprecedented situation for Roger to find a sane, rational person within a Cursed Land.
Moreover, it seemed that the level of technology here was quite backward, at best equivalent to the level of the Bordeaux region a hundred years ago.
But after groping forward for a while, Roger had to stop reluctantly.
For not far from him, atop a nearby hill, Roger saw a Monster Spirit holding a thin sword and carrying a lantern.
This creature’s appearance was all too similar to what Roger had encountered in the Misty World.
But what appeared on that distant hilltop was not just one.
But three!
“Are there really so many monsters here?”
Roger was startled and, after thinking it over, he had to choose another direction.
But it wasn’t long before the path was blocked again by emerging creatures.
It was a plump, double-horned beast; without recklessly moving forward, he was uncertain whether fighting would alarm other creatures.
The night surroundings of this fishing village posed far more danger than any Cursed Land he had ventured into before.
Perhaps only the central region of the Misty World might be comparable.
Thus, Roger spent the entire night covering all areas on the perimeter of the fishing village, but there was more than one monster in every direction.
The only safe area was a dirt road that stretched out from the entrance of the village.
Remembering what the young man had mentioned, Roger dismissed the thoughts in his mind; although he couldn’t explore further for now, he at least clarified the identity of his current body.
As for the specifics, perhaps he could continue to investigate when he found the opportunity in the future.
This time, he had been dragged into this world by accident, and many things had not been prepared in time.
More importantly, he was utterly ignorant of this world and rash exploration under such circumstances could potentially bring about hidden dangers.
After much consideration, Roger decided to leave this place temporarily, and that hidden passage would one day become a unique way out.
He went to the seaside and quietly submerged himself into the water, but no matter what he tried, he couldn’t activate the transmission passage.
Two days flew by in a blink.
At last, it seemed that the coral reef on the sea floor had accumulated enough energy; a glimmer of light hit a crevice, and a strong pull came forth, and Roger finally understood how he had passed through that narrow crevice.
His body shrank to a fraction of its size in an instant.
What was originally a narrow gap now seemed exceedingly broad to him.
With his previous experience, he went along with the pull and managed to pass through the long channel with hardly any injury.
Once he regained his vision, what he saw were the dimly lit corals once again.
And at that moment, Roger suddenly realized a problem– in this vast ocean, how was he supposed to return?
