Chapter 459: 24. Midnight Communication_2

"Mm, much better."

"Uh..."

His sudden force made Alagina somewhat uncomfortable, even causing the cherry color that had been by her earlobe to spread towards her cheek.

At that moment, her eyes involuntarily moved toward her injured right hand; she suddenly thought that if Fisher touched her injured right hand, it would definitely be very painful, and certainly quite...

In fact, when Nali and Fisher first met, she suddenly realized that there was a peculiar liking in her heart; she seemed to somewhat enjoy the pain her lover brought to her.

Of course, it was not that she was insane and sought out pain intentionally; she just liked the pain brought by her beloved.

Back in Nali at the Snake Head Tavern, when she saw Fisher use the "Bone-attaching Maggot" magic to punish the Artificial Witch from the Witch Research Association, she even fantasized about him using the same magic on her. Even after they parted, she often relived that sensation in her dreams.

This small predilection might sound strange, but after long-term use of the "Ice Prince" relic, the sensation of freezing dulled her senses. Even the gentle touches and caresses of her lover were not stimulating enough—they did not melt the ice. Only the fiercest touch, only pain, could successfully transmit feelings to her heart, letting her genuinely feel his presence...

So, that must be why she so craved the pain he brought, right?

Alagina thought this to herself.

With this thought, Alagina’s lips slightly parted, and the usual coolness of her expression was dispersed somewhat by the heat escaping her heart.

Wanting... him to forcefully touch her right hand.

Just as Alagina couldn’t control herself and was about to extend her bandaged right hand toward Fisher, the entire ship suddenly trembled slightly. Ossie, at the top of the mast, stood up and shifted his gaze away from Alagina and Fisher.

"Boom!"

"The steam engine is fixed!"

"Finally, I thought we’d have to dismantle that thing and install it all over again..."

With the ship’s tremor, the smokestack above the engine room emitted a thick plume of black smoke, signaling that the heart of the Iceberg Queen had begun to beat once more. Many crew members cheered, shouting joyously toward the workers in the engine room below the deck.

"It seems the steam engine has been fixed, and today we can finally set off again."

This sudden noise interrupted Alagina’s thoughts; she gently put down her right hand, and Fisher released her left hand, which was linked to his, as Pahetz excitedly ran towards them,

"Captain, I thought it would take several more days to repair. If we depart tonight, the provisions we have are sufficient to make it to the next supply point, and this way, we can return to the pirate port sooner."

Meeting Pahetz’s gaze, Alagina cast one last look at Fisher’s fingers. Her earlier shyness gradually receded, returning to her usual demeanor.

Just as she had promised Fisher earlier, Alagina did not want to rush or coerce him in pursuing him. Yet, inexplicably, as she recalled Fisher contemplating Elizabeth just minutes ago, she found it difficult to restrain herself any longer.

A flash of ambiguous meaning passed through her blue eyes, but she merely nodded, issuing an order to the Chief Officer Pahetz,

"I understand. We depart immediately for the supply point connecting the Eastern Ocean and Southern Ocean."

Up on the deck at the mast, as the steam engine roared, the startled Ossie adjusted her cloak and subconsciously reached for the spot beside her, but her hand found no trace of the parrot-like Steel Blade that usually stayed there.

Her expression hidden beneath the cloak slightly surprised, she scanned around and then saw Steel Blade playing with Emhardt and others near the Captain’s Room.

Watching the parrot frolic with several Mouse Ladies, Ossie’s hand hidden within her cloak gently moved to her mouth, preparing to whistle, but the call to summon it never sounded.

After a long wait, Ossie silently lowered her hand and settled back into her usual spot, once again becoming an enduring fixture atop the Iceberg Queen’s mast.

But this time, her gaze couldn’t help but continuously drift towards where Alagina and Fisher had been holding hands.

Ossie’s figure remained motionless, which made her solitary shadow appear somewhat desolate.

...

...

The Iceberg Queen, having resumed its voyage, quickly left the island that served as a reference point and entered the vast, endless ocean as before.

The weather tonight was bad, with high winds and turbulent waves, and the ship was eerily quiet. Except for the few crew members on duty, most had retired to their rooms to rest.

As the night deepened and shadows completely covered everyone’s sight, Fisher ran alone to the kitchen, surveying the magic materials powder on the table with a headache.

After dinner, Isabella’s face was still swollen like a pig’s head despite applying ice. She was too embarrassed to stay on deck and returned early to her room, shrinking inside. Before entering, she looked pitifully at Fisher, clearly waiting for him to engrave Healing Magic on her.

But although Fisher had agreed to do it, he only realized when he was about to start that there was a serious problem: there were no engraving tools for engraving magic on board the Iceberg Queen.

He had intended to ask Alagina if there was any tool similar to a dagger on board, as there used to be such items, but they had fallen into the sea. Now, the only thing available was a frighteningly curved blade.

Alagina had originally planned to have the Ice Prince make him an ice blade for engraving, but as the blade melted while engraving, it would thicken his magic material powder and fail to form...

Then, with no other choice, Fisher had to ask their ship’s cook for a kitchen knife.

The kitchen knives in Sardinia Female Country were strange, resembling a square bladed knife that could handle various ingredients from the Northern Realm perfectly, from deboning to chopping meat... it was just somewhat odd for engraving magic.

Holding the kitchen knife in his hand, Fisher looked at the iron plate used for engraving magic on the table and found it difficult to start. He tried a few different engraving motions, but none felt quite right.

"Hoo-hoo..."

The kitchen was located on the deck below, in a rather remote spot near the dining hall close to the stern. At night, this area was pretty much deserted, with the crew either stationed at their posts or down in the lower-level dormitories.

Tonight, a strong wind blew across the sea, and through the window, Fisher could hear the fierce wind, which also caused the entire ship to sway slightly, adding to the difficulty of engraving magic.

"Hello..."

"Hello... hello..."

As he looked at the iron plate in front of him, feeling worried, a faint, quiet sound suddenly came from the peaceful dining hall next door. Following the initial voice, another familiar yet annoying parrot sound echoed.

Hearing this, Fisher, holding the kitchen knife, raised his eyebrows and looked in the direction of the adjacent dining hall.

He gently put down the knife and approached the wall in the corner of the kitchen. Mixed with the whooshing wind outside, the faint female voice from next door became increasingly clear,

"Hello... my name is Ossie..."

"Ossie... Ossie..."

"No, you should say... ’Nice to meet you.’"

"Co-co... co-co..."

"I’m sorry, I forgot you’re just a parrot. Let’s try it again, okay?... Just as I said."

Ossie?

The voices conversing next door were recognizable; it was obviously Ossie and her pet Steel Blade, but the content of their conversation was strangely peculiar.

"Hello... my name is Ossie."

"Nice to meet you... nice to meet you."
