Chapter 411: 2. Second Officer
Isabella’s mind was blank; after all, since noon yesterday until this afternoon, she had only had a simple meal and a cup of water—the rest of the time, she had basically given up on herself and lay sleeping on the ship.
In her drowsy dreams, every moment was filled with memories of the scenes that had happened that day, and sometimes she would even see in the pitch darkness, her brother’s head alone staring at her, bleeding from all seven orifices as he spoke to her.
That terrifying scene made her nauseous, and under the immense psychological pressure of great fear, she almost didn’t want to eat or do anything; however, her body was after all only a mortal shell, suffering from hunger in a way she could hardly bear.
Once she became too hungry, her mind was filled with only the simple thought of eating; but once she had eaten her fill, the chaotic thoughts would surge back into her mind.
Isabella had thought about ending her life through starvation, but she simply didn’t have the courage; she was an absolute coward, unable to do anything without her sister’s protection...
"Are you looking for food?"
Standing in front of the Captain’s Room on the second floor of the deck, Isabella’s lips, long deprived of water, were cracked and peeling; upon hearing Fischer’s voice, she turned her vacant gaze to see Fischer’s stern expression, then quickly diverted her eyes, imperceptibly nodding her head,
"Mr. Fischer, I..."
"Come with me."
But Fischer didn’t respond to what she said and directly approached her, roughly pulling her to a room behind the Captain’s Room where there were few people.
After her period of neglect, her body was so feeble that she was nearly weightless; even if she wanted to resist Fischer’s actions, she couldn’t.
"Mr. Fischer... teacher, let... ouch..."
Her pale, small face was partially covered by her golden hair, and as she was about to be dragged away by Fischer, unable to resist, her legs buckled, and she knelt on the ground, trying to use this method to stop Fischer’s actions.
But Fischer didn’t care about her feelings and dragged her ruthlessly to the ship’s edge.
Then, with a flick of his wrist, a pitch-black sword handle appeared instantly in his palm; the mercury-like Fluid Sword Blade transformed into a long spoon that dipped into the sea below, then Fischer gently pulled up the seawater and splashed it directly onto her face.
"Splash!"
"Cough cough..."
After he had done all this, Fischer let go of her hand, allowing the seawater to wet her golden hair and stick to her cheeks, the prolonged thirst making her subconsciously lick the dripping water, but the overly salty seawater made her cough due to a feeling of nausea,
"Look at the state you’re in, like a walking corpse. If you were so weak, you shouldn’t have left Saint Nali on impulse. Have you ever thought about what would have happened to you if you hadn’t met me and been taken onto this ship?"
Isabella hung her head, gently covering her face with her hands, and began to rub the salty seawater and tears on her cheeks,
"I’m... sorry, I... when I think of sister, I just..."
"I don’t care what you’re thinking, but since you’ve already left Saint Nali, you can’t live like you did in the Nali Golden Palace... Or do you want to go back to the Golden Palace? If so, once we reach our destination, I’ll immediately find a ship to send you back."
As soon as she heard about being sent back to the Golden Palace, Isabella would not agree to it for anything; she quickly shook her head, crying and grabbing Fischer’s hand, begging with her head lowered,
"No... please don’t, Mr. Fischer... don’t send me back, I don’t want to... anything but that, as long as I don’t return."
Sitting on Fischer’s shoulder, Emhardt stealthily glanced at him, fearing that the brute would do something beastly again. They had only been acquainted for a few days, but Emhardt had already begun to have a crisis of trust concerning Fischer... well, at least when it came to matters involving ladies.
"You still remember I’m your teacher? Tomorrow you’re going to train with those crew members, maintain the same schedule as them... and right now, there’s nothing to eat here, first go to the cabin to clean yourself up, and then have dinner with everyone."
Without waiting for Isabella to agree, Fischer pulled her up and made her go in that direction.
In the distance, Alagina, who had followed, leaned against the back of the Captain’s Room with her arms crossed, watching them, and pointed out the way for Isabella,
"The washroom to clean yourself is on the third layer of the deck beneath, go there and someone will tell you where to find it."
"...Thank you."
Isabella continued to keep her head down and purse her lips; once Fischer released her arm, she softly thanked Alagina and then slowly dragged her weary body in the direction of the deck.
Her damp and disheveled appearance was scrutinized by the training crew, many of whom just glanced at her and looked away, but the gaze of the others was not so friendly.
The customs of Sardinia Female Country were very strict about what they expected from women; in the icy, snow-covered Northern Realm, the women upheld a spirit of stubborn perseverance. Although they maintained respect for women from other countries, this did not prevent them from mocking Isabella’s current weakness.
