Chapter 398: 158. Captain, Chief Officer & Second Officer (2 in 1)_4
"The news there is very well-informed. People from all places, even many demi-humans, gather there. Moreover, the hands of officials from various countries can’t reach there yet. If you don’t know where to go, you can settle there first..."
After listening, Fisher was somewhat tempted.
The biggest goal in front of him was definitely Erwin, but Fisher couldn’t just go and challenge Erwin to a duel now, he wasn’t prepared, especially after finding out about the new additions in the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual, he needed to find more demi-humans to research their effects.
Another issue was how to properly settle Old Jack and Isabella, especially Isabella.
Fisher believed that it wouldn’t be long before Elizabeth, after handling internal affairs, would definitely issue a bounty on him and Isabella. If he went to find Erwin by then, he absolutely couldn’t take her with him—it would undoubtedly be risking both their lives.
Fisher’s initial plan was to settle them in the Northern Realm, as, considering the overall situation, it seemed to be the only choice.
Schwali was now back in good relations with Nali, both countries being in a honeymoon phase, so sending them there was very unsafe; Kado was good and truly safe, but the problem was that it was an inland country. To get them there, they would either have to pass through Schwali or through the many small Western Continent countries currently at war surrounding it; the South Continent was out of the question—it had a pitiful number of good people, the laws of no country applied, and survival was left entirely to fate.
After much thought, only the currently relatively safe Northern Realm seemed suitable.
However, Alagina was now a high-priority fugitive in the Northern Sardinia, so it was hardly possible for the Iceberg Queen to take them to the Northern Realm. Therefore, going to the pirate port to find someone to escort them seemed to be a good method.
Thinking this, Fisher could only nod in agreement to Alagina’s suggestion,
"In that case, Captain Alagina, I appreciate your help during this time."
When Alagina heard Fisher agree, her earlobes turned slightly red, and a sweet sense of pleasure surged through her heart, the sweetness also lifting the corners of her cold lips.
From the Southern Ocean to Pirate Bay, there was a sailing time of one to two months. During this time, Fisher would be with her on the ship, undoubtedly a perfect opportunity for her...
She maintained that faint, beautiful smile, and just as she turned to Fisher intending to speak again, she suddenly noticed that behind him, that Ocean Subhuman girl was staring straight at her with a cup in hand,
Staring...
That pair of pitch-black eyes suddenly interrupted whatever Alagina was about to say next, pressing pause on their conversation. The sharp Fisher had already sensed something amiss. He turned to look at Moli, but Moli had already turned her head away,
"What’s the matter?"
"Nothing... In that case, I’ll go call Pahetz to arrange the rooms."
Alagina had just finished speaking when she walked to the door. As she pushed the door open, the heavyset Chief Officer Pahetz was already standing by the door, fiddling with a small harmonica. When the door opened, she hurriedly stuffed the harmonica back into her pocket, casting a somewhat suggestive look at the emerging captain,
"Captain, have you finished your chat? Shall I arrange the rooms?"
"Yes."
"Understood... everyone, please come this way."
Despite Pahetz’s plump figure, her mind was slippery smooth. Once she attended to the affirmative, she led Fisher and his group to the rear of the Captain’s Room where several rooms were available. Three of these were already occupied, corresponding to the Captain, the Chief Officer, and the Second Officer, while the other seafarers lived in the cabins below deck.
She designated one room for males and another for females, with Old Jack, the three Mouse Ladies, and Fisher in one room, and Moli and Isabella in another, while the room Fisher was in was right next to Alagina’s.
"Everyone start by tidying up your rooms. We haven’t used these two rooms in a while, so there might be some clutter."
"No trouble at all, Chief Officer Pahetz."
After Fisher spoke, Pahetz, holding a harmonica in his hand, appreciatively twirled it around. Then, looking at Fisher, he said,
"I thought you might call me ’miss’ like the other Nali people... not bad, not bad—Chief Officer is indeed my position. You all tidy up; I’ve got work to do. If there’s anything needed, just shout ’Steel Blade,’ and it will alert us."
Steel Blade?
"That stinking parrot!"
Before Fisher and his group could look up, the three in Old Jack’s arms were already pointing at the colorful parrot perched on the house. "Steel Blade" was its name.
Steel Blade cocked its head again toward the Mouse Lady in Old Jack’s arms and, after flapping its wings, continued,
"Dummy... dummy... dummy."
"That’s all it ever says!"
"I’m so annoyed; I’m going to have Dian Dian One bite your butt!"
Pahetz just laughed and walked down through the corridor toward the lower deck. As she was about to reach the end, she suddenly turned around as if remembering something and said,
"By the way, everyone, dinner on the ship is at six-thirty. Remember to come down."
After finishing, she flung the harmonica in her hand and left the corridor of the captain’s room. Fisher then opened the door to reveal an interior that was still relatively tidy.
The room was spacious but had only one bed. However, there were many quilts available for use. Instead of going in to tidy up, Fisher turned to look at Moli who was standing beside him, staring blankly at her own room.
Her hair and eyes were full of blackness—Fisher knew it was the effect of a curse and knew that since the Mu Xi incident, she had been harboring many, many thoughts. But understanding as she was, she didn’t want to drag Fisher down with her inner turmoil, so she never showed it.
Fisher gave her a look, feeling it was necessary to have a chat,
"Moli..."
"Wha!"
But it seemed Moli was pondering something in her little head. When Fisher spoke up, she was nearly startled into jumping. She then turned her head away, her gaze evasive, not daring to even look at Fisher, and stammered,
"That... the room... it’s a bit messy, I’m going to clean it up first..."
With that said, she hurriedly pulled Isabella into their room, closing the door behind her.
Fisher raised an eyebrow at this sneaky behavior. He felt that Moli might be hiding something from him, but he didn’t press too hard. Instead of directly confronting her, he decided to give Moli some buffer space and find a better opportunity to talk to her later.
