Chapter 379: 153. Demon’s Gate (Two-in-One)

"This way, Moli."

Outside the Royal Forbidden Land of Nali Lake, Fisher, holding his lower abdomen, was leading Moli down the slope of Klein Mountain. Moli followed behind Fisher, looking at the wound on his abdomen and couldn’t help feeling worried,

"Fisher, your wound..."

Fisher’s actions didn’t cease; he just shook his head and quickly assessed whether soldiers from Elizabeth’s army were blocking the way down below.

Far away, a golden light slowly spread along the horizon. Soon it had reached midway up the sky, enveloping all of Saint Nali from two sides, behind the ocean and Nali Lake.

Fisher, deeply knowledgeable about Magic, recognized the powerful military blockade spell at a glance, just as Elizabeth had said, the army had surrounded the entire Saint Nali.

"Elizabeth promised me twenty minutes to leave, but given her personality, it’s very possible that she’ll start capturing people in ten minutes, or even five. She’s the kind who would break the rules even while playing hide and seek and doesn’t believe I could successfully escape from Saint Nali."

Moli evidently saw the spectacular magic that completely wrapped Saint Nali, but having just awakened, she was still a bit puzzled,

"But why... does Princess Elizabeth want to capture us, did we commit any crimes? It was Blake who..."

Without mentioning how Moli almost had her head chopped off on the chopping block by Elizabeth, as well as not mentioning Elizabeth being the mastermind behind it all, Fisher knew now was not the time for such talk—they needed to hurry and escape.

If Fisher truly had half an hour, he might have the time to go back to his rental room to retrieve the "Veil of the Face Changer" and then find a chance to flee Saint Nali. But if Elizabeth truly began capturing people after five minutes, Fisher wasn’t sure whether they could escape.

But at the very least, he needed to ensure Moli could safely leave Saint Nali because Fisher believed Elizabeth would indeed turn Moli into soup if she got her hands on her.

"Let’s not talk about this now, go this way, there seem to be soldiers below."

Fisher’s body, enhanced by the Dragon-man Species, started healing the wound on his abdomen during these few minutes of escape. Emhardt, concealed in his pocket, felt they were safe now and flew out, although he still kept his reduced size, making his voice buzz like a fly’s.

"I was scared to death, scared to death. I felt there was another of my kind next to me... a sentient relic! And she had a terrible temper, she ignored me when I tried to chat..."

"..."

Fisher didn’t respond, but Moli anxiously looked at the floating book and said,

"Sir Book Knight, now that the whole Saint Nali is closed off, do you have any way to help us get out of here?"

The eyes of the Book Knight blinked, looked up at the magic in the sky, and already had an answer in mind. Just as he opened his mouth, Fisher, who was running ahead, also spoke out the answer at the same time,

"Snake Head Street."

"Oh, that’s right, Snake Head Street... Wait, did you also know that a pair of Demon Sisters live there?"

"Demon Sisters?"

Now it was Fisher’s turn to be puzzled. He had no idea what lived on Snake Head Street, but the pirate Alagina, when she was wanted, had escaped from Saint Nali through Snake Head Street. She had told him that there were people providing such services deep within Snake Head Tavern, but he had not inquired in detail.

However, as a local of Saint Nali, he knew that deep in Snake Head Street was an underground river that connected to the ocean, with a very secluded terrain. Even the officials hadn’t fully explored what was in there, let alone the criminal organizations. Those who could offer services there were not ordinary people.

Moreover, when Elliog came to Saint Nali, she also told Fisher that she had come by boat from deep within Snake Head Street, further corroborating the possibility that there might still be a chance for survival there.

So Fisher made a desperate bet that this was the way out of Saint Nali, a last resort.

Facing Elizabeth’s pursuit, seeking help from anyone else now would be harmful to them, Fisher didn’t plan on asking for help.

"That’s right, deep in Snake Head Street live two Demon Sisters responsible for guarding the Gate. Legend has it that in ancient times, the underground near each Human settlement had an entrance to the Demon Dynasty. Demons would sneak into Human society through these entrances to bewitch and confuse. However, the Demon Gods were concerned about Humans entering the Abyss through these entrances, so they sent servant demons to guard each one..."

"Because directly harvesting Fallen Self is a dirty job that Little Demons and servant demons love to do, especially servant demons, those mid-level Demons. Most stronger Demons generally don’t leave the Abyss easily; they’ve become so powerful that even when Humans invoke them, they can sense it. Instead of extracting Fallen Self, I’d rather call their method of feeding a sacrifice..."

As the Book Knight spoke, Fisher thought back to the Fire Pillar he saw in the illusion before Elliog came to the rescue. Humans kneeling in front of the pillar seemed to be offering a sacrifice to Elliog.

"But ever since the fall of the Demon Dynasty, with the physical Demon God Pillars of the Seventy-two Demons locked deep in the Abyss, these entrances were all abandoned. However, near Saint Nali, there are still two remnants of those who guarded the gate... Of course, I have never really seen them, it’s just as the demon lore in the library recounted, who knows if it’s true. Ever since that bad Demon tore out a few pages of me, I’ve hated these creatures."
