Chapter 372: 151. Elizabeth’s Omni-Request_3

"I’m sorry, today, I can’t return to the Golden Palace with you."

Elizabeth’s gaze trembled, the urge to cry was so apparent, yet her dried-up tear lake left not a single tear to be squeezed out,

"Do you think I would let you leave with her today?"

Fisher didn’t maintain that oppressive posture; he breathed somewhat heavily, covering his abdomen with one hand, while lightly clutching Elizabeth’s fingers with the other,

"Erwin is a scourge upon this world, his target is me, and even if I stay within the Golden Palace, he will not cease. I can no longer bear to witness any suffering caused by my negligence, I must kill him before he acts."

"Moreover, you’ve made one mistake, Fisher Benavides did not fail to love Elizabeth..."

"At the Royal College, when I braved danger to participate in the Griffin Race for you, I truly deeply loved you, wishing to be responsible for that affection and to marry you..."

Elizabeth’s pupils shrank slightly, her grip on Fisher’s hand tightened even more.

And behind Fisher and Elizabeth, unseen by either, Moli watched the distant pair conversing, silent with no other movement, but the blackness in her eyes deepened even more, and a bitter sense of injustice spread through her heart.

Fisher looked at Elizabeth, his sincere gaze fell straight into the Pandora within her eyes, passing through the long, chain-sealed golden void, finally resting within her heart.

Equipped with the ability to easily discern truth from falsehood, Elizabeth could feel that warmth spreading through her scar-ridden heart provided by Fisher, yet it caused her nothing but pain.

However, the more it hurt, the more she yearned to cling to it.

She had waited too long for Fisher’s affection; only, back then at the Royal College she didn’t possess Pandora to see through Fisher’s composed face and the feelings he concealed, hence her doubts about his affection...

Yet intelligent as she was, she knew this warmth wasn’t meant for her now.

"...No matter what you say, I will not let you leave again, even if it’s against your will, or if I have to resort to force, I will lock you up and have you stay with me for a lifetime."

Fisher, upon hearing this, gave no response but simply raised a forefinger to her.

What might seem an abstract gesture to others was effortlessly understood by Elizabeth.

She remembered Fisher once participating in the Griffin Race, a quadrennial competition of the Royal College, and by winning it, he earned an "all-powerful request" from the elder princess Elizabeth.

"You may make any request, and Elizabeth will agree."

A promise that became a charming tale within Nali’s circles, was a vow of love between Fisher Benavides and Elizabeth, who shared a soulmate-like understanding.

Fisher intended to use this promise to propose, and Elizabeth overcame social class and preconceptions to be with him because of it...

But now, this request could no longer be used as before.

"Elizabeth, give me thirty minutes to leave here with Moli. And if one day, I return to your side, whether it is of my own will or if you’ve captured me and forced me, I will repay the debts to you and those innocent souls who have died over these years... This is the Blood Oath of Fisher Benavides."

Drop by drop, crimson blood fell from Fisher’s abdominal wound, staining Elizabeth’s white gown red.

She watched Fisher before her, unable to find the words, only able to struggle with the little warmth that had arisen in her heart to utter the following dry words,

"...The Nali Royal Navy has completely blockaded Saint Nali to prevent any changes; you can’t escape. And even if you do, you’ll be wanted relentlessly at any cost until the day you return to me."

"I understand."

Fisher, holding his abdomen, stood up and took a step or two back in response.

But Elizabeth did not rise, even closing her eyes as if seeing Fisher now would cause her harm.

In the darkness and silence, she then said,

"...Only twenty minutes."

"I know."

But the quicker Fisher agreed, the angrier Elizabeth’s heart became, the entire Nali Lake at her side was enveloped by her Golden Flames; they couldn’t possibly leave through the underwater channels, and now the entire Saint Nali was blockaded by her fleet—if he hid in Saint Nali, she would turn it upside down to find him.

Gasping, she reopened her eyes, and Fisher had vanished from sight. She slowly rose, every soldier by her side bowed their heads, not daring to look directly at Elizabeth now.

And from the museum behind, another squad of soldiers emerged, the leader dragging several items shrouded with light golden silk.

Although Elizabeth appeared somewhat disheveled, the dignity she carried was undiminished. Only in front of her beloved Fisher did she reveal such clear vulnerability.

"Your Highness, the items have been secured."

Elizabeth glanced over at the entrance to this sanctuary, where the figures of Fisher and Moli were gradually receding; her eyes narrowed dangerously, and she moved to the front of the echoing soldiers, lifting the silk that covered the items.

Beneath that silk, a golden crown inlaid with priceless gemstones—and at its apex, a prominent Gedelin Pattern formed by three interlocking rings.

Beside the crown, there also laid a golden scepter.

Seeing these items that would be used for the coronation, Elizabeth seemed somewhat disinterested; she gently draped the silk back over them, then suddenly spoke to herself,

"In ten minutes, begin a citywide manhunt for Fisher Benavides, and ensure his safety, bring him back to the Golden Palace alone... Remember, him alone."

"Yes! Your High... no, Your Majesty, the Empress."
