Chapter 307: 126. Blake Vasili (8000)_2

Amidst the dense array of magic, there was a piece of pure black Magic Paper. That was the reason Fisher decided to abandon the evidence in his hands—it was a piece of High Ring Magic with "Destruction" as its Ring Head.

That High Ring Magic, along with the previously mentioned Light Gun, meant that the magical value of this one wall alone was enough to buy an entire street in Saint Nali.

There were hundreds of Six Ring Magic spells, not to mention the Destruction Magic that Fisher hadn’t seen clearly, recognizing only its Ring Head!

"But, Fisher, the evidence..."

Moli still wanted to reach for the evidence on the ground because Fisher had told her that those pieces were key to defeating Blake and the Healing Room. Relying on her sturdy Whale-man Species body, which was more resistant to beatings than a human’s, she wanted to give it a try.

Perhaps the Whale-man Species could withstand the magic’s power, and even if she were injured, she could receive healing. However, Fisher simply didn’t want to risk whether her physical resilience could withstand those spells or not.

"Come back!"

Fisher’s expression was stern as he forcefully pulled her back to his side, watching the magical luminescence on the glass grow increasingly intense. Now, having lost all sensation in his right hand, he struggled to draw another card with his left hand—a Queen Card, engraved with a yellow pattern.

Six Ring Magic, "Shield-shaped Cover."

As the playing card was lit in mid-air, a gold, shimmering physical shield erupted forth until it formed a solid, circular barrier that enveloped Fisher and Moli, trapping the scattered evidence beneath it so they could pick it up later, once it was all over.

Sadly, while the idea was sound, the reality was brutally harsh.

"Ding ding ding ding!"

Beam after beam shot out from the glass, striking Fisher’s High Rank Protection Magic like a rain of meteors. The seemingly weightless beams made such clear, crisp sounds upon impact, but the cracks in the shield grew more numerous. And as the glass shattered, the icy waters from the Klein River began to pour in, slowly flooding the chamber.

As the water rose up his body, Fisher’s face twitched slightly, and he suddenly realized what the person casting the spell intended to do.

He looked around at the racks that had been disassembled by the Light Gun, the numerous books and experimental equipment all submerged, and it was only then that Fisher truly saw what that High Ring Magic with "Destruction" as its Ring Head was.

It was a formidable Nine-Circle Magic, "Conducting Destruction."

Its specific effect was to channel destructive waves from the Magic Emblem outward into the surrounding medium, with the medium’s state—gas, liquid, solid—successively amplifying the destructive wave’s power. If air served as the medium, the power would be severely insufficient.

The person casting the spell using the Light Gun didn’t actually intend to kill Fisher and the others, but to shatter the hard crystal glass, allowing water from the Klein River to infiltrate the chamber and then use the Destruction Magic to obliterate the evidence in a single stroke.

"Hum hum hum!"

The water flowed more copiously, and soon almost filled the entire chamber. A pure black shockwave suddenly spread across the front crystal glass.

That visible shockwave, upon meeting the water, became a high-frequency force that reduced bookshelves, experimental equipment, and books to dust upon contact, as if they’d never existed.

Fisher had initially planned to pick up the evidence on the ground, but clearly, there wasn’t enough time. Not only had he erected the protection barrier, but he’d also raised the Handcane; he needed to reinforce the Protection Magic. Moli’s state was uncertain, and with his current physical strength, he’d die from the shockwave’s impact in an instant.

"Moli, hold on tight!"

"Splosh!"

The water had risen to Fisher’s neck, and for the slightly shorter Moli, she was fully submerged, leaving only the top of her small head visible to Fisher; hence, her response was but a sequence of bubbles.

"..."

Fisher erected a series of purple Protection Magics, but the shockwave, moving as fast as sound, struck immediately—first hitting the gold Shield-shaped Cover he had raised, which shattered on impact, followed by the purple shields behind it.

These purple shields had a low ring number and could shatter after too many rifle bullets hit them, let alone against a Nine Ring Destruction Magic force amplified by a medium.

But Fisher had many Protection Magics at his disposal, rapidly exhausting the dozen or so engraved on the top, watching the shockwave approach ever closer. He tightly grasped Moli’s hand, but even after the last layer broke, the destructive force had not been fully neutralized.

Now, the chamber was completely flooded, and in the pitch darkness, Fisher knew his Protection Magic hadn’t fully withstood the Destruction Magic. Instinctively, he clung tightly to Moli, turning his back to face the annihilating force. The discomfort was so suffocating that even being able to breathe underwater seemed oppressive to Fisher.

The next second, his back felt as if it had been struck directly by a shell, a surge of force instantly assailed his broad back. Immediately his back lost all feeling, and the destructive force didn’t cease, burrowing toward his insides like maggots. Just as it was about to pierce through his back, the Moli in his arms suddenly entwined herself into his embrace.
