Chapter 273: 114. Ant (6000)_4
"I’m sorry, could I have that paper airplane back?"
"Ah, sure, sure..."
"Thank you."
Anna flashed a faint smile, then stealthily slid the paper airplane back into her purse without showing any further interest in purchasing macarons. She briskly walked towards the Pink Hall.
Inside the Pink Hall, it seemed just as usual, despite it being morning, there were already numerous guests indulging in pleasures. A faint white smoke drifted through, rendering the room as enchantingly beautiful as a fairyland.
In the hall, countless languid ladies lounging on chairs respectfully saluted Anna as she entered.
"Lady Anna, the new girl from yesterday is trying to leave again..."
Just as she walked in, two scantily-clad girls approached her and whispered to Anna.
Anna glanced at them, then suddenly thinking of something, she raised her hand and waved, saying,
"Take me to see."
"Yes."
The two ladies led the way in front, and Anna followed at a leisurely pace, crossing the hall and many rooms towards the inner layers.
Contrasting with the splendid opulence and dreamy oblivion of the surface, the inner room felt cold and was underground.
Descending the spiraling black staircase, Anna was led by the two girls down to a room below ground level. She pushed open the door, and there on the bed curled up a girl wearing a short shirt.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, she turned her head like a scared bird, and upon seeing the stern-faced Anna, the girl’s unkempt hair shook with her head.
"No... please let me go... either let me go or give me some... some drugs, just a little..."
The girl crawled on the floor as if enduring tremendous torture, her eyes shifting furtively as she reached out a hand towards Anna, desperately begging for salvation.
Watching the girl who was deformed by the drugs, Anna sighed and gestured to the two girls beside her, speaking softly,
"Leave us, I will handle this."
"Yes, Lady Anna."
The two girls left the room, gently closing the door behind them.
Anna then approached the girl who was prostrate on the ground. Observing her constantly twitching facial muscles, she asked,
"How did you get hooked on the drugs?"
"It was... my family, they were using it, and I... please, I’ll work hard, I’ll do anything you ask, just give me a little bit... uh..."
Her words were cut off as Anna’s palm gently rested on her forehead. Strangely, upon touching the girl, her voice abruptly stopped, and all that could be seen was the girl’s widened pupils from the touch of Anna’s pale fingertips.
Even though the girl in front of her was from the West Continent, whom she once despised, it was only after living in the West Continent for a while that she realized there were many people just like this girl who suffered greatly.
Whether they were from the Southern Continent or the West Continent, whether they were human or demi-human, in the eyes of those people, they were ultimately nothing more than ants, too insignificant even to catch their glance. Who would care about the life and death of their own kind?
"Rest well for a while, you won’t feel the pain if you fall asleep..."
On the shadow of the wall, a vague shadow was cast by Anna’s hand in the dim light of the room.
If one looked closely at the shadow where it connected, they would see the shadow from Anna’s hand appeared to spread out and firmly clasp in front of the girl.
The candle flickered, and then the girl in front collapsed to the ground, eyes whitening as she suddenly lost consciousness, her muscles sometimes twitching, but the desperate craving for drugs on her face slowly faded away, obviously having lost consciousness completely.
Anna watched the girl on the ground for a long time, then slowly pulled the paper airplane that Fisher had tossed to her out of her purse, looking at the magic glow flickering on it.
Wondering about something, Anna smiled faintly, placed the paper airplane back, and then leisurely left the tiny room.
The door closed slowly, and from outside came the gradually fading voice of Anna,
"When she wakes up, notify me. Have O’Reilly teach her some manners. If she dares to escape again or steal drugs from the hall, break her legs."
