Chapter 155: 65. Water Flow

The business in the store was quickly settled, and though some materials for the class were purchased there, it wasn’t enough. Professor Fisher needed to buy some materials for his own use, and with some public funds still remaining, he decided to mix public and private interests, also covering the carriage fare to fully utilize the school’s public funds.

But since they had set out around ten in the morning, it was now nearly noon. Professor Fisher decided to take Moli for lunch first before continuing their stroll. There actually was a basement level in this market, but the items sold there wouldn’t catch Moli’s eye, mostly slaves and stolen goods, so Professor Fisher had no intention of going there.

"Redstone Powder is mainly used for engraving in Flame Magic," he explained, "but contrary to the magic knowledge you’ve learned before, it’s not used to enhance the magic’s potency but rather to weaken it."

"Oh, to weaken it?"

"Yes, because the effects of Flame Magic usually far exceed the needs of human use, making it inconvenient. Hence, Redstone Powder is added to isolate the strength of the Reverberation, making its reaction less intense."

Moli, holding a pile of Magic Materials, listened intently with sparkling eyes as Professor Fisher explained the magic knowledge, completely immersed in the world of magic, and didn’t realize that Professor Fisher was using her as a free laborer, happily carrying the heavy materials and following him.

However, she seemed to have good physical strength, holding all those items without showing any signs of strain, quite effortlessly.

"Alright, I think that’s enough for today’s lesson. Let’s find a place to have lunch. I’ll treat you. What would you like to eat?"

"Um... if it’s about eating—"

She felt a bit embarrassed about being treated to a meal by Professor Fisher since she didn’t have much money on her. Her family’s finances hadn’t arrived yet, and she was barely managing to eat each day, relying on the school grant from the first half of the term.

Plus, she really wanted to try some delicious human food...

Moli swallowed and began to survey the surrounding eateries, struggling with her material-laden fingers to point at three or four food stalls.

Professor Fisher turned to her when she pointed to the third one and asked,

"Wait, are you choosing or do you want to eat everything?"

"Every... everything, is that okay, Professor?"

"..."

Moli pursed her lips, visibly embarrassed, her cheeks flushing... if she hadn’t gulped, maybe her bashfulness would have been even more apparent.

Professor Fisher couldn’t help but take her to visit these few shops in turn; two of them served main meals, and one served desserts. However, the food sold in the market wasn’t from formal restaurants; they just enjoyed it at the street stalls, with desserts even wrapped in leaves.

Moli set the Magic Materials down on a nearby table, her eyes lighting up as dish after dish was placed on the table. She unconsciously praised Lord Ramasitia in her heart, slowly bringing her hands together, but quickly changed her gesture when she saw the gentleman’s gaze.

"Are you praying?"

"No... not exactly! I... I was just thanking..."

Wait, what was the human god called again? She couldn’t remember at the moment...

Moli opened her mouth, her face growing redder, her hand on her chest, then turned to Professor Fisher, explaining softly, "I was thanking... thanking Professor Fisher for providing the food..."

Professor Fisher was slightly stunned, and then he smiled,

"This is a small matter; no need for such formality. Besides, as my teaching assistant, you do have certain extra benefits. I can often offer you meals at the school in the future."

"Really?"

Moli replied joyously. Professor Fisher couldn’t figure out why such a simple thing made her so happy. Perhaps it was because Ocean Subhumans hadn’t tried much human food?

No wonder. They can’t cook with fire underwater, can they? Cooked food seems unlikely, so perhaps they eat raw?

As Professor Fisher pondered this, watching Moli who began quietly humming a song, a very ominous premonition suddenly rose in his heart, as if something terrifying was targeting him.

Soon enough, this premonition became reality. That terrifying thing really did exist, but it wasn’t targeting him—it was targeting his terribly unfortunate wallet.

The food was quickly served, but the rate of consumption was far too rapid to keep up with her eating speed. The dishes piled up in front of her, and that was after Professor Fisher had the staff add more three times.

By the fourth round, Professor Fisher stopped having the staff bring more, but he guessed that even if they did, she would still finish it all.

Moli sucked the last of the soup from her plate before looking up with a slightly red face, meeting Professor Fisher’s gaze, and sheepishly diverted her eyes, only for it to land on a stack of dishes beside her.

"My apologies, Professor Fisher, I..."

She bit her lip, as if feeling guilty about eating too much, and whispered softly, "Maybe we shouldn’t go to the next place..."

"..."

Professor Fisher silently observed her unchanged slim belly, and after a long silence, he simply waved over a waiter to settle the bill.
