Chapter 105: 29. Xiayat

A Magic Introduction lecture of 80 minutes had swiftly come to an end, and as Mr. Fisher announced, "That will be all for this class," the students below who had been focused moments ago instantly turned into zombie-like figures, slumping powerlessly across their desks. A single one of Fisher’s classes was worth two of any other professor’s, having expanded their current scope of knowledge.

But it seemed the content was a bit too much, and the burden on the students was somewhat heavy. It would be best to make some improvements next time. However, the students here appeared to be more resilient than those at the Royal College, with very few losing concentration during the class. Despite initial dissatisfaction with Fisher’s teaching methods, they still attended classes and did their coursework as required.

After all, the degree certificate at Saint Nali University was issued with a grade point system from A to D, and that wasn’t something to be taken lightly.

Having packed up his things, Fisher left the lecture hall and headed towards the office building of the Magic Academy.

He only taught two classes at Saint Nali University, which meant just four lectures a week.

One was an introductory course in magical basics for freshmen, and the other was an advanced magic practice for sophomores. Now that today’s lessons were done, all he needed to do was return tomorrow, but the back-and-forth was truly bothersome. He had heard that Ken had arranged an office and a dormitory for him, so he planned to take a look.

Initially, Fisher had wanted to open a course on the study of demi-human species, but only one person in the entire university had signed up. Even though Ken had especially adjusted the minimum number required for the course to start at ten for Fisher, it still failed to meet that threshold, and so he had to let it go.

Carrying his hand cane while walking through the campus, it wasn’t until Fisher passed the engineering, literature, social sciences, and economics office buildings and reached the edge of the school, that he saw a single-story house right at the boundary. If not for the sign in front that read "Magic Academy Office," Fisher would have thought this place was the gatekeeper’s room.

"..."

It seemed after Saint Nali University failed to recruit professors, even the construction of the Magic Academy office building had slowed down. It was no wonder, considering there were only a few teachers in the Magic Academy, making it hardly necessary.

When Fisher entered, a middle-aged man wearing an eye patch and resting behind a desk hastily removed his eye patch upon hearing the door open. Upon seeing a stranger, the man smiled, stood up, and greeted Fisher.

"Ah, you must be the new Magic Professor... I also teach the introductory magic course here, my name’s Roger."

"Hello, Fisher."

"My goodness, when I saw the faculty roster, I knew it was the illustrious Mr. Fisher. To meet such a distinguished young scholar in person truly honors me. Your desk is over there. Don’t mind it—things are a bit complicated at the Magic Academy, but the treatment of our professors is quite good."

Guided by Roger, Fisher arrived at the door of an office by the window, and everything inside, like the desks and chairs, appeared newly placed. Looking out of the window from here, he could clearly see beyond Saint Nali University to a moderately sized building not far away, which seemed newly constructed.

Fisher looked towards that building and asked Roger, who was behind him,

"What is that building used for? I thought the Council had only approved the land for Saint Nali University in this direction."

"Ah, that," Roger glanced towards it and then said, "That’s the ’South Continent Subhuman Protection Association.’ It’s the New Party’s turf. Their sign says they have exchanges with our school, but I haven’t seen any in the more than a year I’ve been here. Probably just for show. Oh, I’ve heard that a centaur from the Southern Continent lives there. I often see her strolling outside the yard."

"I see."

Fisher looked at the distant building and responded in such a manner.

Roger didn’t stay long; after helping Fisher tidy up quickly, he prepared to leave since he had another class at half-past ten. Fisher, with nothing immediate to do, sat in the office chair considering the Undead Witch matter. She was hiding out in the Pink Hall, and he needed someone familiar with Pink Hall to lead him there.

Perhaps someone like that Trandell fellow.

Drumming his fingers on the desk, Fisher preliminarily decided on contacting Trandell to find the Undead Witch in Pink Hall. But this matter required caution and some planning; he couldn’t just barge in directly.

The intelligence obtained from the Bart Witch indicated that the Undead Witch was being "protected" within Pink Hall. There were multiple theories about the financial backers behind Pink Hall; some said it was the Old Nobles of Nali, some believed it belonged to private merchants, and others speculated it was the Nali Exploration Company. There was no clear consensus.

But whoever it was, they definitely had a purpose in protecting the Undead Witch. There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world. Everything from her "working off her debt" to needing her to provide valuable services in return could be possible. Only then would Pink Hall go to the lengths of offending the Witch Research Association to shelter her.

So, searching for the Undead Witch had to be done without startling the target, especially since she had seen Fisher’s face, but he had no idea what she looked like. Therefore, even if he went, it would be utterly impossible to find her.

As he contemplated a specific plan, Fisher turned to look out the window, but suddenly noticed a lady in a dress emerging from the building, holding a small basket. The lady had the lower body of a horse and a pair of long ears that occasionally fluttered on her head.
