Chapter 1376: Chapter 596 Pollution Is Everywhere_3

"This feels so terrifying!"

Su Manni had just finished speaking when a scream rang out from the partition. The sound made her shudder in fright.

[While the head nurse is making her rounds, it’s going to take a while. Now’s your chance to act—head to Room 1820, Bed 6, and grab the patient’s wristband!]

Eater God commented.

Lin Baici jumped off the bed and started walking outside: "I’m going out for a bit!"

"Where are you going?"

Zheng Yu Huang immediately asked.

"I want to go too!"

Su Manni reached out to grab Lin Baici’s arm.

Big Sweet Sister and the other two also came over, staring at Lin Baici pitifully. None of them wanted to be separated from him.

"I’m going out to look for clues."

Lin Baici spoke honestly: "If you want to follow me, then do. But I won’t ensure your safety. If you die, don’t blame me for not saving you."

The girls were startled; the fear was visible on their faces.

"I’ll go!"

Zheng Yu Huang had no choice—rather than waiting to be dragged off for a checkup, it was better to take a chance outside.

"I... I’ll go too!"

Big Sweet Sister made up her mind to go for it.

"Then I’ll go too!"

Su Manni refused to let Big Sweet Sister stay near Lin Baici alone and decided to tag along.

Lin Baici didn’t want to waste time. He opened the door, stuck his head out, and saw that the nurses hadn’t emerged yet. He quickly and quietly rushed out.

Zheng Yu Huang and Big Sweet Sister followed closely behind.

"You’re really going, huh!"

Su Manni cursed, then hurried out after them.

"Should we go too?"

Zhao Qing hesitated.

"Let’s... go?"

Tang Keke ran to the door. She stepped outside but immediately heard the sound of another door opening, which frightened her into running back in.

The nurses had come out of Room 1808 and were going next door for rounds.

By the time Tang Keke and Zhao Qing peeked their heads out again, Lin Baici and the others were already out of sight; even if they wanted to follow, there was no way to find them.

The head nurse walked into Room 1807. Her thick, broad brows furrowed instantly.

It was too messy!

Not only was the floor filthy, but the bedding was left unfolded. The blanket from Bed 5 had even fallen onto the floor.

Six patients clustered together, whispering among themselves.

Small Horse Journey and the group heard the door open. Turning around, they saw so many nurses filing in, especially the towering one leading them, and were immediately startled.

"Back to your beds!"

The head nurse roared.

The six of them quickly obeyed.

The head nurse walked straight to Bed 5.

Small Horse Journey’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stood up.

"Pick up the blanket!"

The head nurse ordered.

Small Horse Journey complied immediately, inwardly cursing in frustration—this head nurse really knew how to make a fuss!

"Fold it properly!"

The head nurse commanded.

Small Horse Journey neatly folded the blanket in a few swift motions.

"Lie down on the bed!"

Arms crossed, the head nurse watched, while the other nurses approached.

Small Horse Journey climbed quickly back onto the bed, lying flat, his eyes fixed on the head nurse, offering her a friendly smile.

The head nurse remained expressionless. She picked up the blanket and brushed off the stains that had gotten on it.

"Dirty!"

She muttered, and then she placed the blanket over Small Horse Journey’s head, pressing it down forcefully.

"What the hell!"

The others gasped in shock.

Small Horse Journey’s vision instantly went dark as he felt an overwhelming force shoving him into the mattress. The suffocating sensation came on immediately.

"Mmmph! Mmmph!"

Small Horse Journey struggled violently, reaching out to claw at the head nurse’s arms. They felt like steel pillars—completely immovable.

Two nurses approached. Ignoring Small Horse Journey’s flailing arms, one grabbed each of his ankles and held them down.

The head nurse’s gaze was icy, her expression silent and unreadable. If they hadn’t seen it happening with their own eyes, no one would have believed she was actively killing someone.

Small Horse Journey struggled desperately, mouth agape, but the air grew thinner with each passing moment. As less and less oxygen entered his lungs, his consciousness blurred.

He knew he was dying and began to regret it bitterly. If he had shamelessly tagged along with Lin Baici earlier, this wouldn’t be happening.

Small Horse Journey’s movements grew weaker and weaker. A few minutes later, his arms hung limply off the edge of the bed, swaying slightly before finally going still.

The head nurse removed the blanket.

Beneath it lay Small Horse Journey, suffocated to death.

"Clean this up!"

She handed the blanket to the nurse beside her.

The nurse accepted it and repositioned Small Horse Journey into a comfortable sleeping posture. She then covered him with the blanket, carefully helped him close his eyes, and wiped away the drool at the corner of his mouth.

"The floor, the windowsill, the bathroom—everything’s filthy. You all, clean them up by licking!"

The head nurse barked.

The task was repulsive, but after watching Small Horse Journey die right before their eyes, no one dared to refuse. Without hesitation, they dropped to the floor and began licking it clean.

"You supervise them, and while you’re at it, fill out the information on the bedside card."

The head nurse left a nurse behind and moved to check on the next room. As she stepped out, she saw a certain Bootlicker stepping into the hallway.

Bootlicker froze when he saw the head nurse, his face stiffening. He quickly turned back.

He was worried about Su Manni’s safety and wanted to search for her.

The head nurse followed him back inside: "Where do you think you’re going? You’re a patient—don’t you know you need to stay in bed and rest?"

"The doctor said lying down too much isn’t good for one’s health—you need a balance between activity and rest!"

Bootlicker argued.

"Hmm, that makes sense!"

The head nurse nodded.

Bootlicker felt a glimmer of joy, thinking he was quite clever.

"I had planned to break your legs to prevent you from running around and hindering your recovery. But now, I think cutting off one of your toes will suffice!"

As soon as the head nurse finished speaking, four nurses emerged from behind her.

Bootlicker retreated instinctively, but as an ordinary person, he was no match for these monsters. In the blink of an eye, he was pinned to the bed.
