Chapter 1263: Chapter 569: Encounter with a Female Gamer!_3
Lin Baici returned to the stream.
Seeing him, the little girl bound by hemp ropes instantly shouted with joy, "Big brother, did you win?"
"Who are you?"
Lin Baici came over and untied the ropes binding the little girl.
"I’m Mark Han’s daughter, oh, my dad is the sheriff of Flash Gold Town!"
The little girl introduced herself.
"Hungry?"
Lin Baici raised an eyebrow; had he inadvertently rescued a hostage along the way?
And her dad was the sheriff to boot, surely there would be a nice reward.
"Mhm!"
The little girl nodded eagerly. She had been captured by that goblin while out picking wild fruits.
The monster, treating her as a meal, naturally wouldn’t feed her, and the hunger would help clear out her bowels, too.
Lin Baici gave the little girl a big chunk of bread, then he stepped into the tent of that rare goblin.
It was dirty and smelly inside.
The most conspicuous item was a backpack.
[You have obtained a Goblin Backpack, a 20-slot container!]
Players start off with a 16-slot container, and if it’s full, you can only carry new items by hand, greatly hindering your movements.
Lin Baici opened the backpack.
It was filled with a pile of odds and ends.
[You have obtained a jar of herbs, made by a Goblin Witch Doctor, capable of neutralizing most poisons.]
Lin Baici picked up a fist-sized clay jar, pulled out the wooden plug, and a pungent odor immediately hit him in the face.
Achoo! Achoo!
Lin Baici sneezed twice and quickly resealed the plug.
The game is quite user-friendly; important items are highlighted so players don’t miss out on valuables.
"Big brother, do you need me to do anything?"
The little girl followed, holding the bread in both hands, biting large chunks off it.
"No need, I’ll take you home!"
Although he hadn’t killed a full 100 goblins, having slain a rare one and obtained a blue-quality one-handed axe, Lin Baici didn’t care much about getting that two-handed sword anymore.
Time to head back to town to see if there are new quests!
"Mm-hm!"
The little girl was very happy.
They soon left the forest and hadn’t gone far when three goblins burst out of the bushes, growling and rushing towards Lin Baici.
"You stay here!"
Before Lin Baici had finished speaking, he had already dashed out, engaging the charge skill as he reached optimal range.
Whoosh!
Lin Baici crashed into the beefiest goblin.
The stun effect triggered.
Whoosh!
Lin Baici swung his sword down.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The greatsword’s effect triggered, adding an extra attack.
As Lin Baici had targeted a vital point, the goblin was instantly killed before it even had a chance to wail.
Lin Baici continued running forward. If he got too close, he couldn’t launch the charge skill; it required a minimum distance of five meters from the monster.
Thwack!
An arrow struck Lin Baici in the back.
Estimating that he reached the five-meter mark, Lin Baici immediately turned around, charged,
Whoosh!
Lin Baici closed in for the kill, his greatsword hacking repeatedly.
Thwack!
Another arrow hit Lin Baici, but the second goblin was also sliced down.
Seeing this, the third goblin turned and fled.
Lin Baici chased after it and easily finished it off.
Seven orbs of light fell to the ground, among them copper coins, a leather cap, and some dried cured meat.
In the distance, Tang Keke and Peanut Butter squatted in the bushes, watching with dazzled fascination.
"Damn, he’s killing those monsters so effortlessly?"
Peanut Butter looked at her magic wand: "I’m kind of regretting choosing Mage now!"
"Heehee, I’m a Priest, it’d be awesome to party up with him!"
Tang Keke imagined the scene of Lin Baici slaying left and right in the front while she healed from the back, charging in and out of the monster mob seven times, and how thrilling it would be.
"Let’s go!"
Peanut Butter stood up.
"What for?"
Tang Keke was puzzled.
"To form a party, duh!"
Peanut Butter didn’t want to miss out on a chance to team up with someone so capable.
Playing the game so smoothly from the get-go, this young man was definitely an expert.
"Aren’t you afraid of being rejected?"
Tang Keke followed along.
"Being rejected at worst means a blushing face, but missing the chance to get carried by a big shot, that’s a lifetime of regret!"
Peanut Butter flashed an enchanting smile from afar.
Lin Baici picked up the drops, didn’t walk away, but turned around instead, adopting a battle stance as two female players rapidly approached.
A Mage and a Priest, both ranged!
Lin Baici didn’t underestimate them just because they were women.
Peanut Butter ran over, smiling as she explained to Lin Baici, "Big brother, we mean no harm!"
"Yeah yeah, we just want to team up with you!"
Tang Keke chimed in.
"Team up?"
Lin Baici laughed: "And what makes you think I can trust you?"
"All the loot is yours first, you take half, and the rest is divided between me and Tang Keke!"
Peanut Butter offered the splitting scheme.
Lin Baici looked at Tang Keke: "You’re okay with this?"
"Mhm!"
Tang Keke had no choice but to agree, for what do they do if not to cling to Lin Baici who’s more skilled than they are.
Of course, there’s another reason. It’s early in the game, monsters are low-level, and drops aren’t worth much. What they need more are massive amounts of experience.
Following Lin Baici would mean leveling up quickly.
Once at a high level, with more skills, they’d naturally be safer, and forming a party with a Priest and a Mage would be even more advantageous.
"Sorry, I prefer to be a lone wolf!"
Lin Baici declined.
The two female players were anxious upon hearing this.
"Look, you can’t be soloing forever, right? When raiding dungeons and fighting bosses, you always need a party. If you’d had our help just now against that rare monster, you could’ve taken it down with ease!"
