Chapter 1295: Chapter 1299 Gunshot Wound

The Chi family had originally agreed that when she returned, Chi Zhan would personally escort her back.

But she left in a hurry, and Chi Zhan was on a business trip out of town. He didn’t even go to send her off at the airport.

Chi Yu had to take care of his parents and sister, so it was impossible for him to escort her. Therefore, Chi Yu instructed several Chi family bodyguards to bring generous gifts and escort her back.

This return, her first task, was to avenge her mother.

After avenging her mother, she would settle down in the Gu family for good.

She could tell that Ye Xingbei genuinely liked her.

She liked Ye Xingbei a lot too.

Life in the Gu family was very good.

Good people, good living, good eating, and they had a strong background that could provide her with protection.

It couldn’t get more perfect.

She looked into Ye Xingbei’s eyes, filled with the joy of a long-awaited reunion and the expectation of settling down, "From now on, we will be together every day, never apart again!"

"Sure," Ye Xingbei’s beautiful eyes curved into crescent moons, "With an extra person at home to help me take care of Xiao Shumiao and Xiao Yue, and to keep me company, I’m even happier!"

Seeing her warm, radiant smile, Yue Yaer couldn’t help but gently hug her, "Thank you, Beibei."

"Thank what?" Ye Xingbei grasped her hand, "But if you really want to thank me, hurry over and check on Gu Junzhu’s health, his old injury acted up last night. See if you have a solution."

"Old injury?" Yue Yaer looked towards Gu Junzhu, "Your complexion isn’t very good, what kind of injury is it? Why haven’t you mentioned it before?"

Ye Xingbei made a face at Gu Junzhu, "He’s secretive about his illnesses! He thinks as the mighty Fifth Lord of Gu, he shouldn’t be associated with the word ’injury’. He considers himself invincible and won’t see a doctor voluntarily!"

Yue Yaer chuckled lightly, "Men do love their pride, it’s understandable."

She walked to face Gu Junzhu, "Fifth Master, please sit, let me take your pulse."

The two sat face to face, and Gu Junzhu extended his left hand.

Yue Yaer asked Gu Junzhu, "Fifth Master, how did you get this injury?"

"Gunshot wound," Gu Junzhu replied, "The bullet hit near the spine. The doctor said I would have been done for if it shifted a millimeter. But I was lucky, I neither died nor became paralyzed, just left with a back occasionally stiff and painful."

Yue Yaer nodded to show she understood, and began to take Gu Junzhu’s pulse.

Ye Xingbei noticed that Yue Yaer’s way of taking pulse was different from other doctors.

The doctors he had seen before merely touched briefly and finished.

But Yue Yaer took over ten minutes just taking the pulse.

After ten minutes, Yue Yaer stopped taking the pulse, pondered for a moment, and then apologetically shook her head, "Fifth Master, your condition is not a complicated one; it’s just nerve damage needing slow recuperation. I don’t have any better methods. I think the way you are currently recuperating is quite good. I don’t see your injury as very severe. I think if you continue with your current method, you will fully recover in three to five years, or perhaps even one to two years. However..."

She then looked at Ye Xingbei, apologetically adding, "Although my grandfather is indeed very skilled, I am still young, and I’ve only learned the basics of his medical skills. The complicated cases my grandfather has treated, and what he taught me, might make me somewhat better than others, but in many respects, I am not as good as some famous doctors. I really can’t claim to be an expert in medicine; my skills are just moderate at best."
