Chapter 1243: Chapter 1247: Penetrating the Flesh
The Gu Family bodyguards guarding Lian Jinshang had not waited for Qiao Zui to change his orders before stepping forward, their palms rounding into slaps as one ear-ringing slap after another landed on Lian Jinshang’s face.
Lian Jinshang, who cherished her looks above all, felt her cheeks swell after a few slaps, yet Qiao Zui showed not the slightest intent to command a halt. She shrieked, “Qiao Zui, have you gone mad? I’ve told you, after Gu Junzhu was poisoned with the ‘Joy of Reunion,’ only I can alleviate his pain! If he does not consummate with me on the full moon night, he will die from the Gu Worms consuming his heart. Do you want to kill him?”
Qiao Zui just looked at her coldly, not saying a word.
The bodyguard’s palms were as hard as iron boards, and a dozen more slaps left Lian Jinshang bleeding from her mouth and nose, her face bruised and swollen beyond recognition.
After a few more, Lian Jinshang spat out two teeth with a ‘puh’.
Finally, she couldn’t hold back her tears and begged, “Stop, please, stop hitting me…”
Qiao Zui gestured with his hand.
The bodyguard ceased slapping Lian Jinshang, stepped back, and stealthily shook his numb hand behind his back.
Qiao Zui stared coldly at Lian Jinshang. “Speak, who sent you, how did you poison the cordyceps soup, is the antidote you gave my uncle fake, and your so-called Gu Worms and full moon night consummation – are they real or fake?”
“I’m in too much pain, I can’t remember anything,” sobbed Lian Jinshang, crying, “If you treat my wounds and apply medicine, once I’m not in pain, I’ll tell you.”
Qiao Zui sneered and abruptly turned away.
Gu Qi was about to arrive with his people for a forceful interrogation.
And, naturally, such interrogation required tools.
To intimidate Lian Jinshang, a variety of torture instruments were laid out on the ground.
However, because of what Lian Jinshang had claimed about Gu Junzhu being poisoned and needing consummation to avoid death from the Gu Worms, Gu Qi and the others dared not use torture, fearing it might backfire.
For Gu Qi, it was better to err on the side of belief than disbelief regarding Lian Jinshang’s claims.
What if what Lian Jinshang said was true, and they killed or maimed her, leaving their young master unable to consummate and then, truly dying from heart consumption?
They dared not take the risk.
But Qiao Zui did not believe Lian Jinshang’s nonsense.
Compared to her tall tales, he trusted Gu Junzhu’s judgment more!
He picked up an iron spike nearest to him, pulled out one, and viciously thrust it into Lian Jinshang’s shoulder.
The iron spike pierced Lian Jinshang’s shoulder and nailed her to the wall behind, emitting a sharp ‘twang’.
Lian Jinshang immediately screamed in agony, her features twisting with pain, and roared at Qiao Zui, “Qiao Zui, are you out of your mind? I’ve said it, if I die or am injured, Gu Junzhu will suffer an even worse fate. How dare you do this to me? Do you want Gu Junzhu to die so you can inherit the Gu Family’s wealth after him?”
Qiao Zui sneered, his hands unrelenting, nailing several more iron spikes into Lian Jinshang’s body.
Having been special forces, he was knowledgeable in many areas besides childbirth, naturally understanding human anatomy.
He carefully avoided vital organs and blood vessels with his spikes; only piercing through flesh.
This way, Lian Jinshang would not die, but she would wish she had.
Her screams were unbearably pitiful as she struggled desperately.
She was being driven mad by Qiao Zui.
She had thought she had planned the perfect retreat.
She believed her seemingly reasonable explanation would ensure her safety unharmed, and the Gu Family would have to treat her as an honored guest.
