Chapter 1187: Chapter 1191: Gu Junzhu’s Romance
Ye Xingbei returned to her room with Xiao Shumiao.
She took a bath, changed into pajamas, and lay down with Xiao Shumiao.
Xiao Shumiao nestled in her arms, hugging her with his little arms.
He wasn’t actually tired; it had just been several days since he had last seen his mother, and he missed her terribly.
Ye Xingbei, having been tired for several days and having slept poorly at night, was especially restless the previous night as she was preoccupied with Yian Jingxue and today she felt extremely weary.
After kisses on Xiao Shumiao’s chubby cheeks and encircling him with her arms, she fell fast asleep.
Xiao Shumiao, who initially wasn’t sleepy, eventually dozed off as well, having lain there for a long time without anyone to play with.
The mother and son didn’t wake up until noon.
After waking up, neither of them felt like getting out of bed, and they played around in bed for quite some time before they washed up, got ready, and went downstairs to find something to eat.
After lunch, Ye Xingbei sent a video call invitation to Yian Jingxue.
Yian Jingxue had also woken up; she said she had gotten over her fever and just had lunch.
Seeing that Yian Jingxue looked well and relaxed, without the look of someone troubled, Ye Xingbei was relieved, chatted with her for a few sentences, and then ended the video call.
After seeing to it that Xiao Shumiao ate some fruit and watched cartoons for a while, she took Xiao Shumiao for a walk up the back hill to get some exercise.
The afternoon passed serenely and leisurely.
Compared to the chaos and oppression of the past few days at the Yian Family, this peaceful and beautiful time felt as if stolen from a fairy tale.
In the evening, Gu Junzhu came back.
The family gathered in the living room to chat for a while, and then it was time for dinner.
After dinner, Gu Junzhu and Ye Xingbei took the two little ones out for a stroll.
After returning, they put the two little ones to bed, and Gu Junzhu and Ye Xingbei retired to their own bedroom.
Having showered and lying side by side in bed, Ye Xingbei felt a profound sense of contentment and peace in her heart.
She and Yian Jingxue were close as sisters, and staying at Yian Jingxue’s felt just as easy as being at her own home, without any feelings of restraint.
Yet, when she truly returned to her own home, she still found her own place the nicest.
She couldn’t quite say why; everything just seemed more familiar and pleasing to the eye, and she felt completely at ease.
“Hey, Ye Xiaobei!” Gu Junzhu nudged her.
“Hm?” Ye Xingbei turned her head to look at him.
“Close your eyes,” Gu Junzhu said, “I have a gift for you.”
“Another gift for me?” Ye Xingbei closed her eyes and said with a smile, “It seems I haven’t given you anything yet, and you’ve given me so much; I feel almost embarrassed to accept.”
“You don’t need to give me anything,” Gu Junzhu said, “just don’t wear any clothes and tie a ribbon on the key parts, then present yourself to me as the gift.”
Ye Xingbei, with her rich imagination, immediately conjured the picture he described in her mind.
She laughed and gave him a twist, “You’re such a tease!”
As she was laughing, something was pushed into her ear, and the song she wrote that morning began to play.
When she sang in the car, it was a cappella.
Now, it was accompanied by music.
She abruptly opened her eyes and saw a CD player in Gu Junzhu’s hands.
Such CD players were common a decade ago but had since been phased out.
On the CD player, there was a pair of two-headed earphones.
One end of the earphones was in her ear, and the other end was in Gu Junzhu’s ear.
Ye Xingbei’s mind flashed with a movie poster she had once seen.
A boy and girl in school uniforms sat side by side under a tree, sharing earphones as they were doing now, one end connected to the boy, the other to the girl.
She couldn’t help but smile sweetly, snuggling into Gu Junzhu’s embrace, closing her eyes, and listening with him to the sound coming from the earphones, “Because I dreamt you left, I woke from crying, saw the night wind pass the windowsill, letting you still feel my love, until the day we grow old, I’ll surely be by your side…”
