Chapter 1128: Chapter 1212 The Wishful Abacus
Later, after Siqi gave birth to Mi Xiangyu, the elderly couple’s attitude towards Siqi changed significantly because of their grandson.
The Mi Family’s only grandson was born to Siqi, and for the sake of Mi Xiangyu, they had to look upon Siqi more favorably.
Moreover, though Siqi was introverted and timid, unsuitable for public appearances, she was beyond reproach when it came to their son, devoted and submissive, managing his life in every perfect detail.
Having a daughter-in-law who treated their son’s words as holy edicts, they felt pretty good about her. They could now treat Siqi normally, no longer feeling that she was unworthy of their son.
This time, when they learned that Mi Sheng was actually going to be engaged to Senior Gu’s grandson, Senior Master Mi and Senior Madame were ecstatic, even more pleased with Siqi, thinking her to be very fortunate, for not only did she give birth to the family’s only grandson, but now her daughter was marrying so well.
Especially Senior Master Mi.
Senior Gu was an idol whom Senior Master Mi admired.
Learning that his family was going to become in-laws with Senior Gu’s family, Senior Master Mi was so excited he didn’t sleep well last night. He got up early, rummaged through his wardrobe for clothes, excited like a child.
After barely making it through the morning, they arrived at the hotel and met Senior Gu. Senior Master Mi was so thrilled he was at a loss for words, his face flushed with excitement, and it took him a while to calm down.
After all the guests were seated, Qiao Zui and Mi Sheng introduced everyone from both sides.
Senior Master Gu handed the menu to Senior Master Mi: “After today, we’ll be in-laws. Take a look at the menu, order whatever you like, don’t be shy.”
Although overwhelmed with excitement, Senior Master Mi had seen his share of grand events and could maintain basic etiquette and social interaction.
He ordered a few dishes, returning the menu to Senior Master Gu, who then ordered at his own discretion.
Once Senior Master Gu finished ordering, the two families started to chat.
While everyone was talking, Siqi sent a text to Mi Sheng.
Mi Sheng’s phone buzzed. She looked at it; it was her mom asking her to come out to talk.
Mi Sheng glanced at her mom.
Her mom was looking at her with a pleading expression.
Mi Sheng didn’t know what her mom was up to.
Since it was her own mother, it didn’t seem right to pretend she hadn’t seen her, so she got up from her seat.
As she stood and left the room, Siqi also stood up and followed her out.
Gu Junzhu glanced at Ye Xingbei.
Ye Xingbei understood, nodded at him, and followed them out.
Opening the door, Ye Xingbei saw Siqi and Mi Sheng walking dozens of steps away.
She quickly walked over, “Madam Mi, Shengsheng, why aren’t you sitting in the room? Is something the matter?”
“Oh…” Siqi turned around, startled by Ye Xingbei’s gaze, and shook her head, “No, no problem… We just had some unpleasantness at home last time, and I’ve been feeling uneasy these past few days. I wanted to chat with Shengsheng for a bit.”
She had called Mi Sheng the day before, asking her to come out and talk.
But Mi Sheng claimed she didn’t have time and failed to meet.
Deep down, she was actually quite resentful.
This was her own daughter, who came out of her womb, yet she had no intimacy with her.
Now, having found a good family to marry into, she cast her mother aside, unreachable even for a simple meeting.
Why on earth did she give birth to such a daughter?
It was out of necessity at the time.
If the doctors hadn’t said that aborting the baby could mean she would never be able to conceive again or that it might even endanger her life, she would never have had Mi Sheng.
