Chapter 240: Chapter 229 One Month

Capital City, Luo University (Diaterlov University)

Yu Ze arrived at the school gates before dawn, as he had important materials to look up in the library to create new spells that would allow him to interact with the world he was connected to.

Just as he was about to enter,

a text message popped up from a private number.

Upon reading the message, Yu Ze’s expression changed, and he decisively postponed his library visit, hailing a cab towards the Earth-Moon Orbital.

Yu Ze had a minor divination and roughly understood the importance of the matter.

Although he could have entered the station early by showing his credentials, he sneaked in by using an Invisibility Talisman.

Arriving at the track where the train would arrive, he used a special talisman to disperse the station staff and seal off the surveillance cameras in the area.

With everything settled,

the train arrived.

Very few people normally return from Moon City, most of the time the train is empty, but today there was one passenger who was also carrying oversized luggage.

Luo Di came down carrying an Iron Maiden, almost as if he’d auctioned a medieval antique and was preparing to transport it home.

Moreover, this Iron Maiden seemed specially made, with a larger cross-sectional area, as if it contained a corpulent person.

Luo Di glanced at the cameras covered with talismans and the platform occupied only by Yu Ze, nodding to Yu Ze in affirmation.

Yu Ze approached and touched the surface of the Iron Maiden, sensing the specifics of what was inside.

"Buddy, you’ve run into trouble so soon~ Tell me, the thing inside isn’t dead, is it? This is the first time I’ve seen you so violent. Back on the island, it was pure killing, not the torture and torment you’re showing now.

But against a special breed, indeed special measures are required."

Luo Di, however, seemed completely indifferent.

"It doesn’t matter if the thing inside is dead.

If it isn’t, could you help me find a ’suitable’ prison for her? If she really survives, I’ll have some questions to ask her later."

"Suitable..." Yu Ze did some quick thinking, "There’s a very remote prison with robust internal control methods that are not influenced by external powers, which should meet your requirements.

Want to come with me?"

"No need, I still have other matters to attend to.

If this person is indeed alive and gets sent deep into prison, let the prison authorities know they should contact you or me directly once she recovers or wants to provide information."

"Rest assured, I get things done~ Looking at you, it probably won’t even take half a year; in about a month or two, the pituitary should be filled up, right? How’s it going, using the systems from Corner and Hell differently?"

"Not bad."

Yu Ze immediately drew a special talisman on the spot and affixed it to the surface of the Iron Maiden.

The moment the talisman was placed, the torture device before his eyes transformed into a large wooden crate for express delivery, even sprayed with large red letters saying "[Valuable Goods]".

Yu Ze somehow got hold of a trolley and, pulling the large crate, left the platform while gesturing a farewell with his right hand over his shoulder.

"Thank you."

Luo Di’s proactive thanks caused Yu Ze to pause slightly.

"Buddy, you’re too polite. Oh, by the way... if you run into any trouble, use what I put in your pocket."

Luo Di then realized a stack of talisman papers had been slipped unnoticeably into his breast pocket.

He boarded the return train to Moon City.

It must be said, Yu Ze is quite reliable; he’s able to quickly handle any tricky situation, with an efficiency in communication of 500%, and often anticipates issues without needing to be told.

Once Luo Di officially joins the Special Action Department, he naturally plans to repay the favor.

Sitting on the cold train, he was deep in thought.

"An assassin organization, is it similar to the Sisterhood? Managed by a Monster Avatar... If that’s the case, once I find their nest, I might be able to quickly replenish the nutrients needed by the pituitary, and it would also be the most suitable nutrition for me."

In the past, Luo Di would have been thrilled to learn such information.

But now, sitting in the cold carriage with a blank expression, Luo Di involuntarily recalled the incident that happened in the park last night.

Fzzzt Fzzzt Fzzzt!

The lights of the carriage flickered.

In the empty carriage, a figure abruptly appeared.

A black-haired girl in a white dress sat opposite Luo Di,

Drip drop drip drop~

Blood kept seeping from her neck and lower body, the sound of the liquid drops even overpowered the noise of the train moving.

Eventually, her head rolled off her neck and fell to the ground, rolling to Luo Di’s feet, staring at him with eyes filled with despair and a faint desire to survive.

Despite never having met, Luo Di felt very uneasy.

His dream was to become a Murderer, but he was troubled and still couldn’t fully shake off the guilt for failing to save the girl.

Returning to his rental room, life went back to normal.

After the encounter with Wendy,

no suspicious individuals came knocking, and Luo Di’s tongue didn’t spontaneously snap.

This made Luo Di question whether the so-called organization behind it all existed or if they simply didn’t care about Wendy’s situation. After all, had it been the Sisterhood, once Luo Di killed a core member, he’d likely be relentlessly pursued.

Time passed day by day.

Luo Di returned to his daily routine, the offline events provided by 4hs were too convenient; almost every day there were activities involving Pseudo-Person.

Occasionally, **high-risk activities** arise, with one such activity awarding a staggering 250 Fear Beans.

Luo Di was required to go to an abandoned hospital to participate in a Werewolf game. As it turned out, aside from him, the other four participants were all Pseudo-People, and the entire hospital had become a special space they created.

This Werewolf game activity broke Luo Di’s record for the longest offline event he participated in; he didn’t return home until eight in the morning, fell asleep as soon as he had eaten his fill and lay on the bed.

The entire hospital was wiped out by his killing spree.

A month flew by in the blink of an eye.

Perhaps due to Luo Di, this special player, continuously taking part in offline events and the daily deaths of Pseudo-People, the number of activity posts in the Moon Zone had been dwindling.

Luo Di was also fairly certain that Pseudo-People would log into this zone, using posts to attract their prey.

Because of his presence, due to the consecutive deaths in the Pseudo-People community.

Pseudo-People logging on to the site were too afraid to continue posting; now, it might take 3 to 5 days before a new post would appear, and Luo Di might not even be able to get to it first.

Regarding Wendy, although he still remembered her, there had been no contact from the prison for a long time, and he had already assumed that she had died amidst the torture.

After all, that was the first Iron Maiden Luo Di ever made specifically for someone.

A month’s time also allowed half of his pituitary’s saturation to be nurtured.

According to Whisper from the Corner, Luo Di would also obtain a "Seed Stage" trait power, which is a real manifestation of his abilities, unlike the basic tentacle manipulation he possessed before.

As he slept,

his consciousness sank once more, coming to the area where a Huge pituitary hung.

The entire pituitary no longer looked as shriveled as it had a month ago; it was full and vibrant, with the nutrients stored in the posterior area now more than half depleted.

The whole pituitary was emitting a gray lustre at a fixed frequency, seemingly urging Luo Di to touch it and unlock the first of his fear system’s trait powers.

He stepped forward,

reaching out his hand to touch,

this time it wasn’t the tentacles that wrapped around his arm,

but a powerful suction force that pulled Luo Di entirely inside, into the pituitary itself.

A whisper echoed in his ears:

"Saturation has reached 50%,

based on your feeding methods, the ways you spread fear, and your own fear tendencies, we will unlock the first ’Trait Power’.

Due to the uniqueness of your pituitary, you can choose one of three different trait powers."

The whisper ended,

and three windows of consciousness popped up.

’Enhanced Tentacles (Passive)’

Control, strength, and Hardness of the tentacles all increase by 20%, effectively improving cutting efficiency. If tentacle control is mastered, it can even evolve structures similar to hands to assist in wielding weapons for cutting.

’Infection (Passive)’

Increases the efficiency of grayscale Infection and the spread of fear. It becomes easier to mark targets with grey, and it might even allow for a certain radius of non-contact color radiation.

’Mask (Active)’

Significantly depletes pituitary energy, gathers more than 80% of the tentacles on the face, and concentrates them to form a Murderer mask (can be based on an ordinary mask).

The three options before him all matched Luo Di’s performance over the month.

He immediately dismissed the first one.

While tentacles are useful, Luo Di’s killing had always been carried out by his own hands. If he were to rely on tentacles for cutting, it would increasingly deviate from the concept of being a "human" and more resemble a monster from the Corner, which also contradicted his own pursuit.

It would be better to use such additional structures for assistance and fear release.

Luo Di prefers to use Hell-like traits for Hunting and killing.

As for the second option, Infection, it indeed posed a very nice passive effect.

Being able to catch Wendy ahead of time was entirely based on the grey mark.

If he could radiate colors like the Monster Avatar on the island, marking others from a distance without physical contact, Luo Di’s subsequent Chasing and Killing would become much simpler and more efficient.

However,

Luo Di’s gaze found it hard to shift away from the three options.

What is called a mask, is simply a mask.

It’s closely related to the Murderer major Fear Trait, and it has an inexplicable sense of mystery and unknown.

What would it be like to wear such a mask?

What kind of changes would ensue?

Would it make him more akin to the murderer seen in movies and dramas?

The description of the power did not specify, which greatly piqued Luo Di’s curiosity.

Moreover, Luo Di didn’t have to consider only killing matters; he would also go on to serve in Hell later on.

If considering combat with Hell’s legions, the significance of Infection markers might not be great; what’s more needed is to enhance his strength as the Spine.

Most importantly,

Luo Di happens to have a mask of his own design; his fondness for the mask was so great that he never used any pituitary to modify it because he always considered the mask as his possession, not to be parasitized by someone else’s pituitary.

And now,

Luo Di could activate the mask with his own power; this option might just be the perfect fit for him.
