Chapter 887: 887, Unwilling to hurt 2 Chapter 887: 887, Unwilling to hurt 2 “Shi Annuo, look at the drunken mess you’ve made me!” Wen Zhaozhao picked up a glass of water and splashed it over Shi Annuo’s head. The icy water ran straight down from his head, slid over his face, and finally landed on her own body.
Both had water in their eyes and on their faces, looking somewhat disheveled—but one in shock, the other with a mischievous smile.
Shi Annuo quickly pulled Wen Zhaozhao to sit up, “You’re not going to sleep tonight, the blanket is all wet now.”
“So it’s wet. As long as it sobers you up, that’s fine.” Wen Zhaozhao stared steadily into his eyes, then put the glass on the bedside table, raised her hand to wipe the water off her face, and then raised her eyebrows at Shi Annuo, as if to say, this is what you deserve, who asked you to be incoherent now.
Shi Annuo let the water drip from his head down, his expression a mix of aggrievement and sadness as he gazed at Wen Zhaozhao, his eyes childish and stubborn as though he were a child who had lost his candy, silently declaring that he wouldn’t eat if he didn’t get it back today.
The bed was quite big, and because there was only so much water, only a small part of the blanket was wet. Shi Annuo hugged her and pressed her down on a dry spot, seemingly out of spite for Wen Zhaozhao.
Wen Zhaozhao’s mouth twitched, saying coldly, “Shi Annuo, how come I never realized how childish you were before? Get up!”
The arms holding her didn’t move, “If being childish will stop you from divorcing me, then I am willing to be childish, even a fool, it doesn’t matter.”
“Shi Annuo, what nonsense about being a fool or not, get up!” Wen Zhaozhao roared, her voice fiercely loud.
Still, Shi Annuo remained motionless, like a statue, maintaining his previous pose, but as she lost her temper, his facial expression relaxed and he gazed at her steadfastly, pressing his lips together without speaking. He seemed a bit sad, and yet, there was a hint of mischief in his eyes, which were particularly dark, as black as ink, deep and seemingly capable of swallowing someone whole.
Wen Zhaozhao felt that with him staring at her, unmoving, her heart gradually lifted, and the air seemed chillingly still.
Wen Zhaozhao sighed, “Annuo, you’re drunk today. Can we not talk about this right now? Whatever it is, let’s discuss it tomorrow when you’re sober, okay?”
“Will you stay with me like this all night?” Shi Annuo asked softly.
Wen Zhaozhao responded faintly with a hum, indicating she would stay with him.
Shi Annuo smiled, his lips curving into a charming arc.
His slender fingers, as pristine as white jade, gently caressed Wen Zhaozhao’s cheek, tenderly lingering: “Zhaozhao, I’m sorry, I have wronged you. I’ve been awful these past days, I’ve caused you a lot of grievances and made you very upset. I’m inhuman. You love me so much, and you’re so good; logically, for someone as worthless and bad as me, you should be free. I shouldn’t hold on to you. I should let go gracefully. Yet, I really realized that I love you. I just didn’t know how to express it for fear that any casual expression would make you think I’m lying, that I’m deceiving you. Zhaozhao, I will take care of your happiness, and only I can give you that happiness; no other man can.”
Listening to him, Wen Zhaozhao’s heart felt as if it had melted into water. She chuckled, “Shi Annuo, we’re not acting in a Qiong Yao drama, can you stop being so cheesy? It’s rather sour to listen to.”
