Chapter 4746: Chapter 3819: Rapid Pursuit and Assassination (End)

Silent Batman indeed cooperated with Scarecrow. Batman squinted his eyes in the helicopter. He was considering whether to go down and help, but soon he noticed another figure appearing at the bridge’s entrance. The rain was getting heavier and heavier.

"Save me! Batman! Save me!!"

Someone called out in the rainy night. Silent Batman, having just climbed up from the ground, spat out a mouthful of blood and turned back to see Jonathan Crane limping towards him, covered in blood.

He smashed the last two fear gas grenades to the ground, thinking it could force the approaching figure to retreat. But unfortunately, the figure holding a long knife continued to approach slowly. So many Talons, none could stand a chance against him.

Shiller, half crouched behind the Batmobile shooting, glanced over: "Turns out it’s Morbid."

Fear gas also has a central nervous stimulant effect, otherwise, it wouldn’t cause illusions. This is great—now that the stimulant’s effect is over, the fear gas is here again; is this like a refill?

Morbid grabbed the long knife again and hacked it onto Jonathan’s back, who tripped in panic. He let out a scream, and the will to survive urged him to desperately run forward until he hid behind Silent Batman.

Silent Batman had no time to care for him now. He saw the fear gas grenades thrown by Jonathan and knew this was an opportunity. Once that metal-armored Batman was infected with fear gas, his movements would certainly slow down, giving a chance to defeat him.

So he slowly approached Arkham Batman. Batman, overseeing the scene from the helicopter, found it hard to watch.

The Scarecrow of this universe did well, throwing fear gas at the two least afraid of it. The Batman of this universe is not bad either, failing to act faint despite having fear gas as a stepping stone, and instead plans to provoke the nearby menace.

Batman clearly saw Arkham Batman solving five Talons with bare hands in three moves, with three probably left half-paralyzed and the remaining two directly falling from a few hundred meters high off the bridge, likely returning quickly.

Silent Batman, relying on his body size advantage, lunges at Arkham Batman attempting to slam him to the ground and use weight to suppress him.

But Arkham Batman seemed to have eyes on the back of his head, delivering an uppercut that shattered Silent Batman’s jaw the instant he jumped, followed by a chopping leg kick heavily hitting his lower abdomen. Upon landing, Silent Batman felt his legs go numb and then lose sensation.

Bang!

A loud gunshot didn’t symbolize retreat but rather sounded like a rally call. Clown Hero rushed out, aiming his gun’s dark muzzle at Arkham Batman.

He just wanted to say something when Jonathan’s scream came again from the side. Clown Hero couldn’t see what happened, blocked by Batman’s view, but soon the rain washed fresh red blood over.

When Shiller emerged from behind the Batmobile with a bloodstained long knife, Clown Hero momentarily didn’t know where to aim the gun.

Just when everyone thought Shiller would rush to attack Clown Hero, he seemed disoriented and turned his head. His barren, unfocused gray eyes didn’t linger long on anyone.

Suddenly, he turned directly toward Silent Batman on the ground, stepping over with the long knife.

"Stop!" Clown Hero shouted, "You damn madman!"

Just then, the sound of grappling hooks firing emanated from the bridge, and countless figures in assassin garb jumped onto the bridge, gradually surrounding everyone. Talya emerged from the crowd.

"Have you caused enough trouble?" Talya said angrily, "I really don’t know where all these madmen come from; you all should go to hell!"

She waved her hand, and countless assassins charged forward, but it’s clear that the few killing gods on the bridge had no intention of retreating, clearly ready to kill as many as come.

Morbid charged at Talya, Arkham Batman entangled with Dick, while the agents and Clown Hero shot down the assassins one by one.

The bridge turned into chaos. Batman said to the helicopter pilot, "Move closer, I need to go down."

He had to find a way to fish Silent Batman out. Although it seemed this Batman was blinded by hatred, apart from directing Jonathan to kill an assassin, he hadn’t done anything bad. Batman couldn’t let him die in the melee.

The helicopter arrived at the bridge’s surface, and Batman rolled off after jumping down, running towards Silent Batman lying there. Though some assassins tried to obstruct him, he successfully evaded them all.

While running, Batman discreetly observed the surroundings. This time, the Court of Owls and Assassin’s Union have quite a number of people; probably their entire main force on the East Coast. With just a few people here, it’s really consuming.

But these people before him were clearly already killing madly, ignoring the increasing numbers around them. Batman wanted to advise, but knew he couldn’t persuade them.

Just as he lifted Silent Batman off the ground onto his shoulder, he suddenly realized Shiller had already pinned Dick to the ground with his long knife, and stared straight at him, revealing a spine-chilling smile.

At that moment, Batman thought of many things.

There must be something he overlooked.

In an instant, he found what the people hunted by Shiller had in common—they were all abnormal-minded antisocial psychopaths.

But there was one exception, and that was Jason Todd.

Alarm bells rang in Batman’s mind. In an instant, the sharp sound of something piercing through the air echoed overhead.

"Raptor missile!"

Batman turned sharply, seeing the faint glow of dozens of missile tails flickering in the rain. He rushed towards the edge of the bridge at top speed, but it was too late.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

It was unclear how long it took before Batman regained consciousness. He found himself lying on the riverbank, on a patch of wet mudflat. The edges of his vision were filled with what was left of the Gotham Bridge, completely blown into two sections.

A figure was arduously dragging someone from the water to the shore. Batman rubbed his eyes. When he saw that head of green hair and the huge, sinister smile, he thought he was having another nightmare.

"Batman, you owe me one," the unharmed Main Universe’s Joker said, "Out of so many people, I was the first to fish you out. If you stayed any longer, you might have died. How are you going to thank me?"

Batman didn’t really want to talk to him. He closed his eyes and turned his head away, beginning to ponder what was going on.

He knew Shiller wasn’t a killer. Or rather, his destructive power was not as simple as chasing after some madman with a knife. Shiller approached Jason not to act as some Chief Justice but to find out the whereabouts of the missiles from that foolish boy. His goal was to eliminate the Court of Owls and the Assassin’s League in one fell swoop.

The only small problem was that he also took out all the players and allies in one go.

Batman wasn’t at the center of the explosion and had jumped off the bridge in time, so he wasn’t seriously injured. But looking at the unconscious Arkham Batman beside him, he could fully imagine the power of those dozens of missiles.

Fortunately, Batman’s vitality was quite resilient. Shiller wasn’t bad either, and the Joker had survived without a scratch. Their allies were still alive, and Silent Batman had also made it through, but he was the most seriously injured, barely clinging to life.

The Joker hummed a tune beside them, showing no intention of getting them to a hospital. Just as Batman was about to speak, he saw a red-haired figure rush over urgently.

"God!" Barbara screamed. She immediately called out behind her to the rebel army, "Quick! Quickly get them to the hospital!!!"

Days later, Shiller and Batman arrived at the Wayne Enterprises’ laboratory. Equipment for storing brains and performing head transplants had been set up here, and Elliot’s corpse had also been brought in.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Batman asked.

"Of course." Shiller said through gritted teeth, "If it weren’t for the Mad Laugh, would I have suffered this?"

Batman was speechless, his expression clearly questioning, "Are you sure it was the Mad Laugh that made you suffer this?"

"Of course." Shiller answered to himself, "If he hadn’t set traps on the teleportation device and created such highly concentrated stimulants, the Morbid wouldn’t have chased him. He wouldn’t have come to this universe, and the Morbid wouldn’t have wiped us out with missiles. Who else can you blame but him?"

Batman couldn’t refute. He had to say, "During these days in the hospital, I deduced the likelihood of the experiment’s success. Though there’s some confidence, there are certainly risks..."

"Can’t care about that now," Shiller said, moving directly to the water tank. Then, the Silent Batman in a wheelchair, pushed by Arkham Batman, also arrived at the laboratory.

They made some adjustments to the plan’s details.

Now, they would remove Silent Batman’s brain, placing it in a water tank, then take the brain originally from the Broken Bat Universe’s Joker in the tank and place it in Silent Batman’s body.

The reason for this was that Silent Batman’s body had been damaged by Arkham Batman’s attack and was indeed paralyzed, making natural recovery unlikely. The body was basically unusable.

They planned to give him a new body. But considering this body may contain the Laughing Egg, it shouldn’t be wasted. By putting Joker’s brain into it, it could become the new Laughing bat’s body.

As for how they knew the new Laughing bat would definitely be resurrected from this body, it was because they had prepared Elliot’s body for the old Laughing bat. The old Laughing bat knew he was destined to confront the new Laughing bat, so he would undoubtedly select a body for the new Laughing bat that was worse than Elliot’s. The paralyzed Silent Batman was the perfect choice.

After finalizing the plan, they began execution methodically. First, they opened Silent Batman’s skull, removed his brain, and placed it in the brain-preserving water tank. Then they took out the Broken Bat Universe’s Joker’s brain and placed it in Silent Batman’s body.

Immediately after, they opened the Laughing bat’s head retrieved from Jason and placed its brain in another water tank. This water tank’s material was special, capable of completely isolating all signals. All Laughing bat’s brainwaves were sealed inside.

As expected, at the instant the Laughing bat’s brainwaves were cut off, the body of Silent Batman lying on the side lab table began to move. The body convulsed wildly as if something inside was breaking through the earth.

Meanwhile, the brainwave readings from the water tank containing Laughing bat’s brain grew weaker. Watching the detector panel, Arkham Batman said, "It’s almost done."

Shiller took out Laughing bat’s brain and placed it in Elliot’s corpse. Indeed, the brainwave readings of both bodies gradually recovered—signifying that the cosmos was about to welcome two Laughing bats.

Except one was paralyzed, and the other even worse than paralyzed.
