Chapter 56: Chapter 56- finally back

When Morrison reached downstairs, sure enough, the young lady was already packing up her things, ready to leave. Her eyes were red, clearly shaken by what had just happened. Morrison stepped forward to stop her.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

Lilian’s first reaction was to push his hand away and shout loudly, "Disgusting! So disgusting!"

The memory of what she had just seen made her stomach churn, making it impossible to eat a thing.

Morrison chuckled, "What’s disgusting? A man’s body is like that. Besides, my figure is way better than most men—whether it’s size, muscles, or strength."

Already embarrassed, Lilian’s eyes were redder now as she yelled back, "Shut up!"

"All right, all right. I won’t say another word. You can go if you want, but can we at least finish the meal first?"

Seeing her on the verge of tears, Morrison softened his tone.

"Look at this spread. It’d be such a waste if we didn’t eat it."

Inside, Morrison was sighing and moaning in frustration. If it were any other woman, seeing his body would make her want him immediately, ready to lose herself in pleasure. But with Lilian... he had to beg and coax like a whipped puppy.

What a world.

Especially since she called him disgusting. He swore to himself that one day she’d pay for that insult—then she’d love it instead of being disgusted.

Lilian struggled, "I don’t want to eat anymore. I want to go home. Let me go—" fre/ew.ebnovel.c om

Every time she closed her eyes, that image flashed back in her mind. How could she possibly eat?

Morrison wasn’t about to let her go so easily. He scooped her up and teased,

"If you don’t eat, then I’ll just eat you up instead!"

As he said that, his big hand sneaked inside her clothes, scaring Lilian out of her wits. Tears immediately started streaming down her face.

"Morrison, why are you so mean? Why do you always bully me? Boohoo—"

"We’ve already broken up, but why do you keep teasing me? Can’t we just end things cleanly?"

Faced with her tearful assault, Morrison was helpless. He lowered his voice to soothe her.

"As long as you sit down and finish your meal, I promise I won’t do anything else to you. After dinner, I’ll take you home, okay?"

Lilian had no choice. After calming herself down a bit, she finally sat back down at the table.

"All right, stop thinking about it. Just eat quickly. After dinner, I’ll send you home," Morrison said.

Lilian believed him, never suspecting it was just another one of his tricks.

By the end of the meal, Morrison was drunk—completely passed out, head down on the table.

Lilian really wanted to leave him there and go, but the thought of him sleeping like that all night at the table terrified her. What if he fell off his chair in the middle of the night?

So, with great effort, dragging and pulling, she managed to get him back to the bedroom. But then he kept asking for water, feeling uncomfortable, clinging to her so she couldn’t leave.

Eventually, when he finally quieted down, exhausted herself, she ended up falling asleep beside his bed.

Thus, for the very first time in her life, Lilian spent the night in a man’s home...

But Morrison was only pretending to be drunk. Once he saw she was asleep, he got up quietly, carried her gently to his bed, and held her tightly without restraint as he fell asleep.

It was no surprise that the next morning, Lilian woke up furious to find herself lying in his arms in his bed—she nearly kicked him off.

Angrily leaving his home, she didn’t contact him for days. It wasn’t until the secret of the destroyed divorce agreement leaked and her parents pressed her that she finally reached out to him, asking what to do.

Morrison suggested she confess to taking the blame so her parents wouldn’t blame her.

But Lilian flatly refused. Morrison stared at the phone after the call ended, thoughtfully stroking his chin.

Karl returned home around the Dragon Boat Festival. By then, Laurent and Dave had reconciled and quietly remarried. It was just before Laurent was to take up his new post at A.T., so he was handing over his current work, while Dave was busy preparing for their daughter’s school and purchasing a house near A.T. Daniel and Tiffany’s relationship was also slowly improving.

Lilian’s mood was very good during this time.

Her parents were healing, her brother Laurent was back on good terms, and her own work was stable and progressing smoothly. Her wishes were gradually coming true, and she had little to be unhappy about.

Morrison went to pick Karl up at the airport. Karl wore simple framed glasses and casual, relaxed clothes. Like Morrison, he was tall and broad-shouldered, but with a gentle scholarly aura. Standing next to his brother, dressed in a sharp suit, the contrast between their temperaments was striking.

The two brothers hugged warmly upon meeting. Karl smiled brightly at Morrison and said,

"Big brother, I’m back. Did you miss me?"

Though Karl was the scholarly type, he wasn’t the stiff, dull kind. On the contrary, he was somewhat playful and cheerful.

Perhaps it was due to their upbringing: Linda and Morrison were a loving, open couple, so both Morrison and Karl had bright personalities. Morrison’s business career forced him to be tough and cold on the outside, while Karl’s research work allowed him to be more easygoing.

Morrison snorted coldly.

"You still know how to come back?"

Then he glanced over Karl’s outfit again, frowning in dissatisfaction.

"I’m taking you to a clothing store later. Buy a few sets of clothes before we go home. Look at you—wrinkled all over. Where’s the style of the Mo family’s second young master?"

From Morrison’s observation, Karl’s entire outfit was probably from common brands—no style or quality to speak of.

Karl patted his own clothes.

"Why do you want to buy me clothes? I’m not you, always attending formal events. I’m a researcher. I wear whatever’s comfortable."

Morrison was adamant.

"That won’t do. Burg Eltz isn’t abroad. No one knows you overseas, but here? If you walk around like that and someone snaps a photo, they’ll probably say our Mo family is mistreating you."

Karl pleaded.

"Oh, come on, bro, don’t say it so scary. I just want to get home to see Mom and Dad, okay?"

Without waiting for Morrison to say anything else, Karl handed him his luggage cart and strolled ahead leisurely. When they exited the airport hall, a bookstore was nearby. Morrison didn’t notice, and Karl slipped inside, spending a solid half hour browsing books.

Morrison waited outside, smoking two cigarettes. Only after multiple calls from Linda urging him did Karl finally relent and obediently follow Morrison home.

Once inside, Linda greeted Karl with a warm embrace.

"Sweetheart, you’re finally back."

Linda held her youngest son tightly, her eyes moist.

Originally, after the New Year, Linda and Morrison planned to visit their youngest son, but he said his research was too busy and he’d be back soon, so they didn’t go. It had been nearly a year since they last saw him, so emotions ran high.

After some small talk with their parents, Karl went off to freshen up and rest to adjust his jet lag. Morrison put Karl’s luggage down and told Linda,

"I’m heading to the office first."

He was a busy man, but he clearly cared about his brother enough to come pick him up himself.

Linda called after him,

"Come home for dinner tonight, okay? It’s been so long since we’ve had a big family reunion."

"I know."

Morrison said this as he left.

Linda stood there quietly, sighing to herself.

"If only those two would settle down, get married and bring their wives home, then it would really be a reunion."

But the cold reality was that neither of her two sons had resolved their lifelong matters yet.

But fortunately, the obedient youngest son was back. Linda was especially confident about matching him up with Lilian. In her eyes, the youngest son and Lilian were a perfect match—made for each other in every way.

With that thought, she immediately called Tiffany, telling her that her youngest son had returned to the country and asked Tiffany to arrange a meeting between him and Lilian based on Lilian’s schedule, so they could get to know each other.
