Chapter 52: Chapter 52- you bitch
Lilian thought she’d ask Sean about her car tomorrow after work—specifically, how much she could sell it for. After all, she didn’t know the first thing about secondhand car prices. She was just a girl with no clue about the market.
And in MOS Corp., although Sean wasn’t in the same department as her, he was the male colleague she was most familiar with—thanks to her previous association with Morrison.
So, naturally, he was her first choice for help.
If she asked her brother about selling the car, he’d definitely object.
She also thought about selling her luxury handbags. Those she could handle on her own. Asking around among her female coworkers would probably be enough.
After picking up her father’s divorce agreement, Lilian drove to the hospital, while Morrison headed back to the office. Now that Tiffany and Emma were safe, the rest was up to Dave. His task was complete.
But the moment Morrison got back to his office, the first thing he did was ask Sean:
"Which cars are most popular with women these days?"
He could already tell Lilian was thinking about selling her car.
Fine, let her sell it. That old car of hers had been around for years anyway. More importantly, the cabin space was too tight. Every time he rode in it, he couldn’t even stretch his legs. It was honestly uncomfortable.
Sean, knowing the boss’s efficiency, immediately pulled up a list of the most stylish and practical cars for women and sent it over.
Morrison glanced at his schedule. Not too packed. So he grabbed his car keys again and walked out.
Sean happened to be walking in with some documents when Morrison passed him.
"Just leave it on my desk," Morrison said without stopping.
Sean blinked. "Uh... Sir? You’re going out again?"
"Car shopping," Morrison replied without missing a beat.
And just like that, he was gone.
Sean stood there stunned. Car shopping?
Wait a second—he’s that eager?
At this point, Sean didn’t even have to guess. The car was obviously for Lilian.
And from the looks of it, the boss was already falling hard.
Not that Morrison himself saw it that way.
No, in his mind, this was just a matter of pride. A petty grudge after being dumped.
That was all.
Of course, Lilian was even less aware that Morrison was falling for her. Not even close.
The next day at work, Sean nearly jumped out of his seat when he got a call from Lilian. She wanted to have lunch and ask him about selling her car.
His first instinct?
Immediately report it to the boss.
Which is why, when lunchtime rolled around, the person who showed up to meet Lilian wasn’t Sean—
—it was Morrison.
Lilian had arrived early and waited quite a while. But when she finally looked up...
It was Morrison walking toward her.
Her entire face flushed with awkwardness.
"Y-You... What are you doing here?"
Morrison didn’t even blink. He sat down across from her with a calm, unreadable face and said flatly:
"Sean’s out on an errand. You can talk to me instead."
Lilian stiffened.
She didn’t want to talk to him.
It felt weird.
This was something she could discuss freely with Sean as a friend.
But with Morrison... it felt off.
She glanced at him and pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Her mind was already scrambling for an excuse to end this awkward lunch as soon as possible. Maybe she could pretend to have urgent business?
Forcing a polite smile, she opened her mouth.
"Morrison, I—"
But before she could finish, he cut her off.
"Sean told me you’re selling your car."
Lilian fell silent immediately.
Still, now that he already knew, there wasn’t much point in hiding it.
She lowered her gaze and replied softly,
"...Yes. I’m thinking of selling it. My brother no longer has Washington Co., and I feel like I should be more careful with my spending..."
Morrison looked at the girl sitting quietly before him, her eyes lowered in thought. He’d always known she was sensible, but not this sensible—so much so that it was almost heartbreaking.
Burg Eltz had just gone through such a huge upheaval, yet she showed no trace of sadness or despair. No bitterness, no blaming fate.
Most people who’d lived a life of luxury and comfort, suddenly losing it all, would be devastated—maybe even hysterical, crying and throwing tantrums. Especially girls, who tend to be spoiled.
But not her.
She accepted everything calmly, even thinking about selling her car to save money.
On the surface, she seemed delicate and fragile, but inside, she was unbelievably strong and resilient.
Morrison pulled a brochure from his pocket—the one from the car dealership he’d visited yesterday. It was a model he liked and thought would suit her perfectly.
"Take a look at this. Like it?"
He slid the pamphlet across the table toward her. If she liked it, he could pay for it immediately.
Lilian glanced at the brochure, surprised, then looked up at him with a puzzled expression.
"What do you mean by that?"
Morrison smirked.
"You want to sell your car, right? Fine. Sell it. But I’ll give you this one."
Lilian’s face froze in shock before flushing with irritation.
"No way!"
Why would he give her a car? They weren’t even close. What was this sudden generosity about?
Besides, she wanted to sell her car to save on gas money. If he gave her a car that probably guzzled more fuel, what was the point of selling her old one?
Morrison knew she might refuse, so he furrowed his brow and asked,
"If you don’t want it, then how do you plan to get to work?" fre/ew.ebnovel.c om
"By subway or bus," Lilian said lightly.
Morrison’s frown deepened.
"So you want to squeeze into crowded buses and trains every day? Don’t you know how many perverts there are on public transport harassing girls?"
He shuddered at the thought of a pure, innocent girl like her packed into a crush of strangers on a packed subway.
Lilian snorted.
"Don’t exaggerate. There aren’t that many perverts and weirdos."
Morrison wasn’t in the mood for debate and issued an ultimatum:
"If you’re selling your car, fine. But either you drive this new one, or I’ll be giving you a ride from now on."
Lilian—speechless.
What kind of nonsense was this? She wanted to save money by selling her car, but now she was somehow tied to him even more?
Annoyed, she grabbed her bag, stood up, and snapped,
"This is none of your business."
And without another word, she left—skipping the rest of the meal.
Lilian felt frustrated enough, but as soon as she stepped outside the restaurant, she ran into the one person she least wanted to see: Angela.
Yes, Angela.
Everyone had thought Angela went to the capital for graduate school. That was what Angela claimed, at least.
But shortly after Lilian started working at MOS Corp., she once ran into Angela at this very restaurant while out with some coworkers. Angela was dressed in business attire, dining with a few people who looked like colleagues.
Lilian had been surprised and confused—why was Angela here if she was supposed to be studying in the capital?
But Lilian didn’t care enough to dig deeper, so she just went back to her meal with her coworkers.
When Lilian stepped out of the restaurant, Angela was waiting for her outside. She said she wanted to have a word—and then immediately warned Lilian not to spread the news that she hadn’t actually gotten into graduate school and was working instead.
Lilian thought Angela was worrying over nothing. She had zero interest in Angela’s business.
Now facing Angela, Lilian planned to pretend she didn’t know her and just walk past. But Angela blocked her path, shouting furiously:
"Lilian, you bitch!"
She even stepped forward and shoved Lilian hard on the shoulder.
"Can’t you just leave me alone? How dare you spread the fact that I failed to get into grad school! I’m the laughingstock of the entire class now—do you even realize that?"
Lilian staggered from the shove, anger instantly flaring.
"Angela, what the hell is wrong with you? Who told you I spread that? I didn’t say a word!"
"You still deny it?" Angela went mad, lunging forward to attack.
Before she could get close, Lilian was suddenly pulled into a protective embrace—and Morrison stepped in without mercy, raising his foot and delivering a brutal kick straight to the crazed Angela.
The kick was hard and heavy, showing no mercy despite Angela being a woman.
