Chapter 243: 0241 Sincere Apology
Ever since the new year started, the entire Federation Society has been displaying an inexplicable state, just when a movie highly anticipated by certain special groups was released.
It was highly anticipated because even before the movie was released, there was already talk circulating in some adult film distribution channels that the female lead of this movie would be starring in at least three adult-rated movies afterward.
All major channels also began displaying posters, which instantly attracted those who treat adult films as the motivation for survival to the cinemas.
Although their numbers might seem sparse compared to mainstream viewers, many of these people watch the movie more than once and are full of expectations for the future.
Lynch, as an important investor from the production side, was also among the invited attendees at the premiere ceremony.
The movie premiere was held in the "City of Film and Television" of Bail Federal, Laridemo, a standard city born for various film and television productions.
This city on the southwest coastline of the Federation gathers the top film and television teams and various actors from across the Federation, with the headquarters of the largest production companies in the Federation located here, also including important institutions like the film society and filmmakers association.
Laridemo has five very famous cinemas, which are often the preferred choice for premieres, giving them an irreplaceable sacred status in the hearts of many movie buffs and thus spawning many unique film cultures.
For instance, if a Western movie does not premiere at Horseshoe Cinema, the box office is doomed to tragedy.
As for the seductive movie Lynch and his team invested in, it is best suited for Ruby Cinema.
The Ruby Cinema’s predecessor was an opera house named Ruby, and it wasn’t a proper opera house. To make more money, Ruby Opera House was actually engaged in flesh business.
All the opera actors were opera actors when on stage, performing large-scale seductive dances that got the audiences’ blood boiling.
When they stepped off the stage, they became service providers, offering any service to those who had money.
Later, there happened a story that only appears in movie scripts and novels, about a poor boy falling in love with a high-class escort, leading to their double suicide backstage and setting half the opera house on fire.
Due to this event, the operators of the opera house were fined five hundred bucks, which was a huge amount at that time.
Subsequently, Ruby Opera House was sold by its owner to a successor. At the time, film was just beginning to rise, and Ruby, a place holding a special status in the minds of many, completed its transformation, becoming a cinema.
Because it was one of the first cinemas in the Federation and a leader, it gradually became a Holy Land in people’s minds. Most movies related to romance premiered here.
When Lynch appeared at the end of the red carpet with a young girl, flashlights started crazily flickering. Lynch did not show any impatience but greeted the media gracefully.
The media had already received a list beforehand, knowing Lynch was an investor in the film production, naturally giving him ample respect.
In the complex muddy waters of the film and entertainment industry, you can offend directors, actors, screenwriters, and anyone else, but you must never offend the investors waving money.
The girl beside Lynch was arranged by a partner. Though only seventeen, she has participated in two films, playing the important role of the second female lead, namely the first supporting actress.
Her broker company is optimistic about her future development; coincidentally, this broker company during the premiere formed a cooperative relationship with Fox’s father and son, pairing this girl with Lynch to increase her societal exposure.
The reason why Fox’s father and son would collaborate with such a broker company is simple: a group of hillbillies from the countryside filmed a movie and wanted to host a premiere. They know countless stars in the industry yet none know them.
If a premiere doesn’t have any heavyweight figures or stars, there’s no point in holding a premiere at all. Hence, through their maneuvers, they found some partners, and Ruby Theater also offered some assistance.
That led to today’s red carpet event, with the help of the theater, the broker company, and the distribution company, bringing in some heavyweight actors and figures from the film circle, including socialites to attend this premiere.
These attendees are not brimming with enthusiasm; some aim to expand their social circle; some wish to see if they can pull an investment from Fox’s father and son, while others are there purely to increase exposure, like the girl beside Lynch.
In the short time Lynch interacted with her, her broker repeatedly hinted that he should not have any improper thoughts about this girl; she is the newcomer their broker company intends to promote.
Of course, if Lynch wants to have some deep conversations about physics and its practical role in male-female interactions with actresses, they can provide a list of escorts.
These days the entertainment circle isn’t easy to navigate; without taking on some private jobs, many stars couldn’t even sustain their lives.
Stars are also victims of this financial crisis and among the most affected.
Most stars inherently lack high education and have little deep understanding of finance, yet are extremely keen on investing in the finance industry—it’s widely known that stars are wealthy, so Bupen’s stockbrokers would find any means to make stars hand their money over for them to manage.
They would exaggerate the dangers of keeping money in banks, making these poorly educated individuals believe investing is the right way, even hiring some frauds to deceive these stars, reportedly with quite effective results!
Besides, financial investment has become fashionable over the years; when stars meet, they discuss how much money they made from investments, aside from new work.
Under the spotlight, Lynch sat in the investor’s seat, while young Fox interacted with the host on stage, with old Fox seated beside Lynch.
He noticed that the movie’s female lead was seated next to Mr. Fox, the two whispering to each other.
Lynch only glanced briefly before withdrawing his gaze, not wanting people to think he’s interested in others’ personal privacy, which he genuinely isn’t; it’s merely some exchange of money and bodily fluids, there’s likely no love involved.
He turned back to glance at his female companion and donned a polite smile before looking elsewhere.
He assumed the next part would be a tedious ceremony, but unexpectedly, the girl beside him whispered in his ear, "Do you look down on me?!"
Lynch was a bit startled, "Why do you think that?"
The girl stared into his eyes, "I saw it from your smile, you look down on me!"
The girl thought Lynch wouldn’t admit it, even refute her unreasonable accusation, but just as she surprised Lynch, Lynch also caught her off guard.
"Sorry, I shouldn’t look down on you," Lynch’s apology was filled with sincere tone, as if it were genuine.
The girl didn’t even know how to respond, should she say "No need to apologize" or "You’re right to apologize" or something of that sort?
Seeing the girl remain silent, Lynch smiled gently, looking at young Fox handling the stage.
Soon, the lights in the cinema dimmed, and the big screen began to light up.
Actually, those who haven’t watched a movie in such old-fashioned cinemas could never truly comprehend what a "big screen" is; possibly, in their minds, the so-called "big screen" is just a large projection.
But if people have seen those screens at least seven or eight meters high, ten or twelve meters wide, or even ten meters tall and fourteen or fifteen meters wide, only then can they understand what a true "big screen" is, what the horribly poor viewing experience and awe entail.
The movie was overall shooting pretty well, roughly depicting a woman’s story of revenge after being killed by a truck driver.
Isn’t it ridiculous?
But that’s the storyline: the not fully deceased heroine was saved by aliens, and these little blue folks rescued her while studying human anatomy and also gave the heroine bodily traits surpassing human limits.
Then, when the aliens were leaving the planet, they tossed her down from the outer atmosphere, burning her clothes during the drop.
Well,
The subsequent part is about the heroine’s non-stop killing spree, with blood-soaked body after each slaughter, requiring showers lasting anything from thirty seconds to several minutes.
During the viewing process, Lynch noticed people continuously getting up to go to the restroom; such people are truly filthy!
When the movie played about two-thirds of its length, Lynch noticeably felt uninterested, knowing what would happen next, his attention started to scatter. But right at that moment, the little girl beside him nudged his arm, "Not every actress is like this."
Lynch curiously looked at her, seeing the sincerity in her expression through the dim lighting.
Lynch responded sincerely as well, "Yes, you are right!"
This plain statement instantly annoyed the girl again, "You’re looking down on me again!"
"You did it again; we’ve known each other for barely two hours, you don’t understand me at all, yet you’ve looked down on me twice, that’s excessive!"
Lynch once again sincerely apologized for his excessiveness, "Sorry, I’ve looked down on you again, I apologize!"
Seeing the girl’s hands clenching into fists, Lynch suddenly felt cheerful.
