Chapter 308: Chapter 21 1 A World Apart: 2 Heavy Skies (Part 1)_2
This set of tokens is called "Wind Boat Order," divided into three colors: gold, silver, and copper. Each color consists of three pieces, with unique functions for each. Moreover, if one piece is struck, the damage can be shared among the others as per the owner’s intent. Thus, whether the Dharma Treasure can be utilized effectively depends entirely on the wielder’s ability.
This artifact had been acquired by Lu Ge from the Demon Storage. Due to an earlier lapse in vigilance, one piece was once shattered by Zhang Yan. Over the past year, he had expended considerable effort to refine and restore the piece.
As the tokens soared into the air, they vibrated simultaneously, transforming into massive steles towering several zhang tall, standing firmly ahead. However, Lu Ge feared they might still fail to withstand the assault. At once, he bit his tongue tip and spat several consecutive mouthfuls of Essence Blood upon them.
Nourished by his Essence Qi, the nine talismans began to radiate brilliantly, their size doubling in an instant. The surface now shimmered with dazzling streaks of light and color.
At this moment, the seemingly unstoppable sword light had arrived. With a violent strike, it crashed onto the giant stele, unleashing a series of cracking sounds. The sword light shattered five consecutive steles in succession before its momentum finally dissipated, coming to a halt.
Seeing his offense blocked, Zhang Yan showed no urgency. With a flick of his shoulder, he moved several dozen zhang away. Chanting a spell, he separated sixteen sword balls and aimed them downward to strike Lu Ge once again.
Having his first strike obstructed was expected. Lu Ge possessed numerous trump cards; it was impossible for Zhang Yan to kill him so easily.
The initiative remained firmly in Zhang Yan’s grasp. Once his Sword Force was unleashed, it flowed without interruption. Ranging attacks from afar made it impossible for Lu Ge, who was not a Sword Cultivator, to retaliate effectively. He could only rely on Magic Artifacts for a painstaking defense. Should even a slight flaw be exposed, Zhang Yan would instantly cut him down.
At this point, Lu Ge had only four talismans left. Yet his tactics were far from exhausted. Activating his Mysterious Skill, he released six refined Xuan Guang Talismans to combat the assault.
Thanks to his timely response and precise techniques, he managed to defend against the onslaught. Although forced backward continually, he had not yet displayed any sign of defeat.
Nonetheless, his forehead was already drenched in cold sweat, his thoughts consumed by pondering potential escape strategies.
Sword Cultivators are formidable exactly because their enemies can neither chase them nor flee from them. Once entangled, defeat and death are merely matters of time.
Yet Lu Ge understood that the power of the sword balls lay in their sharpness and speed. If one’s cultivation surpassed that of a Sword Cultivator, one could temporarily repel the sword balls with sheer brute force.
In their last confrontation, he had stirred his Elixir Qi to blow away Zhang Yan’s sword balls at once.
Although such a method appeared simple and crude, it was remarkably effective. Now, Lu Ge intended to repeat this strategy.
Grasping a fleeting opportunity was all he needed to deploy the Demon Storage. Once inside, no matter how skilled Zhang Yan was, he would be unable to breach its Prohibition.
With a plan firmly in mind and sensing the Sword Force growing increasingly intense, Lu Ge realized he could no longer hold out. Without hesitation, he leapt skyward and took a deep breath. With a resounding "Ha," he exhaled a stream of ghastly green Qi of Elixir Evil.
The violent surge of Elixir Qi immediately whipped into a furious tempest, unstoppable in its might, blowing the sword balls dozens of zhang away in an instant.
Lu Ge then pinched a spell, causing the remaining five massive steles and six Xuan Guang Talismans to vibrate and encircle the sword balls completely, sealing all escape routes from above, below, and every side.
Next, he unfurled the Xuan Guang around himself. Green light danced over his body and gathered above his head, condensing into a colossal stele that pressed downward toward Zhang Yan like a crushing mountain.
Simultaneously, Lu Ge withdrew the Demon Storage from his Sleeve Bag, releasing it nearby, where it manifested as a six-layered tower with an open portal.
As long as he could rush into the Demon Storage, regardless of Zhang Yan’s methods, the Prohibitions within would render him untouchable.
Lu Ge’s maneuver was an impressive combination of offense and defense. Each action was executed like a seamless stream, with precision in timing and no discernible flaws, showcasing a seasoned mastery.
Zhang Yan’s eyes flickered as a cold smile curled on his lips. Would he allow himself to fall for the same trick twice? He had withheld his Heavy Water earlier precisely for this moment.
Now pointing his finger, three hundred sixty-five drops of You Yin Heavy Water swirled into a reverse-flowing cascade, heading upward without hesitation.
Just as Lu Ge raised his foot to step into the Demon Storage, a deafening explosion rang out. Green light erupted chaotically, and torrential currents rampaged. The giant stele condensed by the Xuan Guang was instantly shattered, incapable of even brief resistance.
Lu Ge was now only a step away from the Demon Storage. However, a golden fire streak suddenly shot forward, blocking his path with an unyielding brilliance.
Lu Ge’s face turned ashen. Seeing the You Yin Heavy Water and Xuan Guang closing in from front and rear, he realized he had miscalculated yet again, forfeiting his chance to enter the Demon Storage.
If he continued to stall here even briefly, the sword balls would soon break through the talismans and return to Zhang Yan. At that point, escape would be utterly impossible. Heaving a long sigh, Lu Ge abandoned the Demon Storage and fled, hoping Zhang Yan would be distracted by its allure and refrain from pursuing him.
With no one manipulating the talismans, Zhang Yan controlled his sword balls, swiftly shattering them all. Then, with a loud shout, he transformed into a soaring rainbow, chasing after Lu Ge’s fleeing figure.
He didn’t spare the suspended Demon Storage even a glance. With no one else present, once Lu Ge was slain, why worry about the treasure escaping his grasp?
Despite his familiarity with the underground paths and having gained a head start, Lu Ge was rapidly overtaken by Zhang Yan, whose sword escape was far faster.
Feeling the overwhelming killing intent bearing down on him, Lu Ge trembled with fear. Desperately, he hurled a bell from his Sleeve Bag into the distance—a seemingly potent Magic Artifact. He knew it was useless against Zhang Yan but prayed it might divert his attention.
However, Zhang Yan merely glanced at it before continuing his tunneling light without pausing in the slightest.
Undeterred, Lu Ge frantically threw out Elixir Pills and various Magic Artifacts, hoping one might catch Zhang Yan’s interest.
Yet regardless of what he cast aside, Zhang Yan was utterly indifferent, focused only on pressing forward.
After flying a dozen more miles, Lu Ge found himself bereft of all protective items, even throwing away his horsetail whisk.
Witnessing the approaching sword light draw closer, he knew escape was impossible. Exhausted of tricks and means, yet unwilling to resign, he shouted hoarsely, "Daoist Zhang, don’t kill me, don’t kill me! I have a secret to share with you..."
