Chapter 140: Chapter 36: Siege on Carp Demon - Cursing Fang Zhen

A cultivator died on the spot, and with the suddenness of the event, the hundreds of Mingcang Sect disciples at the foot of Little Lang Mountain were left dumbfounded.

Zhang Yan raised his head and looked up. A demon cultivator, standing roughly ten feet tall, was suspended mid-air. His protruding jaw, broad cheeks, pointed head, and pitch-black skin were entirely covered in golden armor. In his hands, he wielded a menacing beast-faced great saber, which was six feet long.

The demon cast a glance around, and upon spotting the Golden Flood Dragon, his eyes—as large as copper bells—lit up with delight. He let out a strange laugh and charged straight toward it.

Around the Golden Flood Dragon were dozens of powerful warriors. When they saw the incoming threat, they clamored loudly and formed a defensive line in front of the dragon. But to their shock, the demon cultivator barreled through them heedlessly, an irresistible force emanating from him. Several warriors at the front were sent flying directly upon contact.

Several warriors to the side attempted to block him but were effortlessly swatted away, like dolls tossed aside by his mere movements.

From within Zhang Yan’s sleeve came Luo Xiao’s startled voice, exclaiming, "It’s him!?"

Zhang Yan raised his sleeve closer and asked in a low voice, "Luo Daoist, do you recognize this demon?"

From inside the sleeve, Luo Xiao’s voice, as faint as a mosquito’s buzz, emerged: "This man is named Qu Chang, the son of Qu Bo of Jiuquxi Palace in Deep Pool. I don’t understand why he would appear here."

Zhang Yan furrowed his brows. Jiuquxi Palace? Hadn’t Su Yihong already taken it over? Even if some survivors had escaped, they should’ve gone into hiding by now. What is this man doing here? He felt an inexplicable suspicion that the Golden Flood Dragon and Qu Chang’s appearance together was no coincidence.

At this moment, Qu Chang had already reached the Golden Flood Dragon and was stretching his hand toward the Yuan Yang Gold Lock. If the lock were opened, the flood dragon could break free immediately.

Xie Zongyuan pointed a finger at Qu Chang and shouted, "Seize this demon, now!" Qu Chang only possessed Xuan Guang cultivation, whereas Xie Zongyuan had four Xuan Guang Realm cultivators beside him. Naturally, he felt no fear and was brimming with confidence.

The Xuan Guang cultivators had been itching to act, but since their mission was to protect Xie Zongyuan, they had refrained from acting without his command. Upon hearing his order, one of them immediately rushed forward. Joining his fingers together, he coldly commanded, "Cut!"

A flying sword rose from his hand and slashed toward Qu Chang.

Qu Chang’s hand was already on the Yuan Yang Gold Lock when he suddenly sensed something amiss behind him. Turning, he extended his hand and caught the flying sword mid-air. Staring at the wildly vibrating blade in his grip, he let out a "Heh" and then exerted force—it broke with a resounding "crack."

A cultivator standing to Xie Zongyuan’s right snorted and charged forth. His Xuan Guang unfurled, sending out a massive blue light, shaped like a giant fan, sweeping horizontally toward Qu Chang.

A feral grin spread across Qu Chang’s face. Instead of dodging, he charged forward head-on. When they were about to collide, he let out a growl, his beast-faced great saber suddenly raised high before slashing downward. With a "squelch," the blue Xuan Guang was split open with one swing, slicing the cultivator clean in two. Blood rained down, and even the primordial spirit was obliterated on the spot.

Everyone’s expressions changed drastically. The lead Xuan Guang cultivator shouted in alarm, "Not good! The weapon in this man’s hand is a Divine Weapon! Quickly retreat—use Dharma Treasure Flying Swords!"

A Divine Weapon refers to blades used by cultivators, classified into three tiers: human, earth, and heaven. All of these weapons are crafted from heavenly materials and earth treasures by advanced cultivators. Not only can they resist Dharma treasures, but they are also highly effective at piercing through protective turtle qi used by other cultivators.

The three remaining Xuan Guang cultivators, intimidated by Qu Chang’s ferocity, dared not advance. Performing spell gestures from several dozen feet away, their Dharma Treasure Flying Swords soared into the air, unleashing beams of treasure light toward Qu Chang’s body.

Qu Chang swung his beast-faced great saber, deflecting two of the flying swords. The last sword, however, struck his head directly as it was too late for him to dodge. With a metallic clang, it was as though the sword had hit solid steel, leaving only a faint white mark. Qu Chang shook his head lightly, unharmed.

Yet, that sword seemed to have provoked Qu Chang’s anger. Abandoning his attempt to free the Golden Flood Dragon, he turned instead and charged toward Xie Zongyuan.

Observing this, Zhang Yan couldn’t help but ask, "Luo Daoist, has this demon chosen the ’Power Dao’ path, making him impervious to flying swords?"

Luo Xiao’s voice floated out from the sleeve, "Indeed. Qu Chang has likely reached the Third Realm of Xuan Guang cultivation. His Xuan Guang Jing Qi has merged with his physical body, uniting as one and making him as tough as forged steel. Ordinary Dharma Treasure Flying Swords cannot harm him."

Xuan Guang, also known as ’Qi Essence,’ is the refined energy following Ming Qi. Without external materials like Cloud Sand to condense light and shape form, it fuses into the bones and blood, integrating with the body to embark on the path of Power Dao.
