Chapter 125: Chapter 27 Fierce Battle on the River Absorbing Qi into the Primordial Talisman - Part 2
Only a loud explosion could be heard as the golden glimmer on the sword ball dissipated. With a sharp "crack," a visible crack appeared, and it lost its Spiritual Energy, falling from the air.
Shen Yuefeng felt a sharp pain in his chest, spitting out a mouthful of blood with a "puh." Raising his eyes and seeing this, his face contorted in rage. The sword ball, under the combined assault of Zhang Yan and Luo Xiao, had lost all its radiance and turned into an ordinary object, clearly destroyed.
More than half of his abilities were tied to the sword ball. Now that it had been shattered, and realizing the difficulty of dealing with Zhang Yan and Luo Xiao, hesitation flickered across his face.
Noticing his apparent intent to retreat, Zhang Yan, fearing he might escape, deliberately mocked with a loud voice, "Shen Yuefeng, you came at us so aggressively, and I thought you had some real skill. Turns out, you’re terribly lacking. Now that your sword ball is destroyed, what else can you use to hurt us?"
Hearing these words, Shen Yuefeng’s blood surged with fury, trembling all over, as he roared angrily, "Zhang Yan, you insignificant brat, do you think I won’t take your life?!" With a wave of his hand, a dozen or so shining talisman papers flew into the air, emitting a sharp aura reminiscent of blade and steel.
Luo Xiao snorted disdainfully, a flash of contempt in her eyes. Raising the Proclamation Pen in her hand, she waved it in mid-air. The pen twirled and sketched an invisible force field, which instantly brushed away all the talisman papers. Zhang Yan, after stowing away the copper mirror, seized the opportunity to sweep his sleeve, sending a green glimmer straight for Shen Yuefeng’s chest.
Before the Ruyi Divine Shuttle even reached him, Shen Yuefeng’s hair stood on end as a sense of imminent danger struck his heart. With no time for any other movement, the mystical light surged from his back like a tidal wave, rapidly converging into a protective barrier that barely managed to block the incoming Ruyi Divine Shuttle. Yet, from the other side, Luo Xiao was already directing the Proclamation Pen towards him, forcing him to grunt lowly as another wave of mystical light surged forth to counter.
The Proclamation Pen spun and easily scattered the mystical light. As it descended again, another layer of mystical light sprung from Shen Yuefeng’s body to intercept it. Luo Xiao brushed three times, each time erasing Shen Yuefeng’s mystical light, only for him to renew it endlessly. It suddenly dawned on Luo Xiao that her opponent might possess some treasure that replenished his Primordial Qi without limit.
She sneered coldly, and two black needle-like glimmers surfaced within the mystical light surrounding her.
These were her personally crafted Mang Jue Poison Needles, refined with venom from her own fangs. Their dark hue matched her mystical light, making them imperceptible until they struck without warning. Previously, He Fang had succumbed to their effect, left paralyzed and helpless, allowing her to easily claim his life.
Clutching the Heart-Hitting Hammer in her left hand, she waited until another of Shen Yuefeng’s mystical light barriers was brushed away before immediately throwing the hammer.
At this point, Shen Yuefeng was increasingly disheveled. Though reluctant to stay, his retreat was hampered by the Ruyi Divine Shuttle. Fully aware of its threat, he dared not let it pursue him from behind while already struggling to defend himself from the front.
As he contemplated an opening to escape, he saw the Proclamation Pen retreating, only for the Heart-Hitting Hammer to arrive. Startled, he tried to block with his mystical light but caught a glimpse of something flickering past his vision. His body suddenly went numb, and his Qi Mechanism stalled. He could only shift his body slightly as the hammer struck his shoulder with a "bang," shattering it. He let out a tragic cry, unable to maintain his balance, and plunged into the water below.
Seeing Shen Yuefeng fall into the water, Zhang Yan knew their goal had been achieved. He shouted sharply, "Luo Daoist!"
Luo Xiao nodded and lifted her right palm, summoning a heavy, pitch-black giant inkstone to materialize in mid-air.
The Soul Suppressing Inkstone, wielded by Zhang Yan, spanned five zhang in size. Yet, under Luo Xiao’s control, it rapidly expanded to a breadth of thirty zhang, enveloping the waterway below.
With a commanding shout, Luo Xiao flipped her palm, sending the Soul Suppressing Inkstone crashing into the water where Shen Yuefeng had fallen. With a thunderous "boom," massive waves churned violently, pushing five nearby boats a hundred zhang away until they capsized. The Fish Demon Beauties aboard leapt into the water, unfazed and even cheering joyfully. Bound by Blood Covenants, Zhang Yan had no fear of them escaping.
Luo Xiao surveyed the river for any movement. Seeing none, she retracted the inkstone and dove into the water. With the Inkstone’s power of immobilizing both body and soul, coupled with Shen Yuefeng’s severe poison wounds, escape was impossible. After that crushing blow, his death was certain.
Standing atop the water, Zhang Yan drifted with the waves as they gradually calmed. Suddenly, with a splashing sound, Luo Xiao emerged and tossed a Qiankun Pouch to him, saying, "His body has already decayed, and his Primordial Spirit is shattered."
Zhang Yan caught it, opened it with a flick, and found a few Daoist Books among some elixir pills. Taking one out, he noticed the title "Talisman Bag Book," a manual of the Guangyuan Sect’s secret talisman-making methods. Flipping through the pages, he saw it filled with dense annotations and couldn’t help but take a closer look.
Originally intended by Shen Yuefeng as a gift for Jiang Yue after the Elixir Conference, the detailed annotations showed his careful study and dedication. Now, by a twist of fate, it ended up in Zhang Yan’s hands. Remembering how those Flying Talismans could even somewhat withstand Dharma Treasures, he felt a surge of excitement and became engrossed in the book.
Just then, Luo Xiao approached him, holding an item. "Young man, look at this," she said.
Zhang Yan glanced up and saw what appeared to be a talisman in her hand. It emitted a flowing golden radiance and was surrounded by Spiritual Energy, clearly a rare artifact.
Luo Xiao said excitedly, "This is called a ’Primordial Talisman.’ It’s unique to the Guangyuan Sect and crafted by one of their elders. It’s used to store True Spirit Qi, which can be drawn upon during battles. Quite a handy thing!"
"Oh, so this is a Primordial Talisman?"
Upon hearing its origin, a glimmer of joy crossed Zhang Yan’s eyes.
