Chapter 437: Chapter 40: The Sumeru Monks Kneel to Welcome_2

The white-robed nun tapped her red lips with her slender finger and said seductively, "With your cultivation, Fellow Daoist, if you were to join our Buddhist Sect, then you could have a beautiful virgin every day."

"Aren’t you afraid that the Daoist Sect will annihilate you for such acts?"

Gu Wen’s face showed surprise, finding one virgin every day a bit excessive.

In his previous life, a certain religion dared to promise only seventy-two virgins, yet the Buddhist Sect could promise one each day.

Was this treating the common people like livestock?

When the white-robed nun heard him, she thought he was tempted and immediately explained, "There are hundreds of millions of people in the Buddha State, and there are always families offering up their daughters willingly. As long as they receive the enlightenment from their Master, they can then marry into a wealthy family."

"Even entering the Buddhist Sect for cultivation is better than their life outside. Mortals value male and female, cultivation values Yin and Yang."

Gu Wen asked, "Did you also enter the path this way?"

Upon hearing this, the beautiful face of the white-robed nun stiffened, clearly embarrassed, and she said, "This nun entered the Buddhist Sect at a young age and did not lose her Primordial Yin."

"Is restored Primordial Yin still considered Primordial Yin?"

"..."

The white-robed nun bit her silver teeth tightly and could no longer maintain her composure.

Remembering that she could not see Gu Wen’s level of cultivation, she silently turned around and left.

In the Cultivation World, it’s survival of the fittest, even today it has never changed. It’s just not so blatant, no one can kill openly in major cities, nor can they boldly kill someone and leave their name.

But in practice, there are many rationales, and always some places that the Daoist Sect cannot reach.

No one can guarantee that they won’t be ambushed after leaving their homes.

After the nun left, Gu Wen kept walking forward, passing countless temples and Buddhist pagodas, the path in front of him becoming narrower and narrower.

Wooden paths decayed, bitter Hermit Buddhist Temple.

An old monk sat cross-legged in the middle of the road, an Arhat of the Mahayana Realm.

Bitter Hermit Buddhist Temple, a hermit faction within the Buddhist Sect, gathered a group of monks who did not partake in worldly offerings. Also currently, apart from the Minor Mahayana Sect led by Buddha Sword, it was a third-party neutral Buddhist force.

They did not favor anyone but guarded the road leading to the Golden Buddha Temple.

The intentions of Buddha Sword were unfathomable. As Gu Wen walked on the mountain path, he vaguely gained some enlightenment. The path contained an inexplicable sense of the Dao, like heavenly tribulation almost materializing.

The entire path was a transformation of tribulations.

The uncertainty of worldly cause and effect blocked all roads unknown, but better to leave two visible and controllable paths.

Becoming an Immortal involves tribulations, becoming a Saint also involves tribulations, perhaps even Great Saints face tribulations.

Gu Wen walked past him, and the Mahayana Realm Arhat felt only a breeze.

Then, one by one, the Bitter Hermit Buddhist Temples were the same, halfway through his journey, an old monk dressed in plain clothes appeared like dried wood.

True Buddha Position, on par with Immortals.

The old monk slightly bowed and said, "Amitabha Buddha, Yuqing Heavenly Venerate visits, sorry for not greeting you from afar."

Gu Wen said, "It seems there are quite a few Immortals in the Buddhist Sect. The previous generation’s Buddha Sword was just half a step away. You are already an Immortal, and I wonder how many more are hidden."

When he left the Immortal Land, countless strong people had done everything possible to become Immortals, even if it meant losing face. And when he emerged from the Immortal Land, it seemed as though everyone he saw and heard was an Immortal.

He knew that it wasn’t that there were more Immortals, but that as a Little Saint, even Immortals could not escape his eyesight. Conversely, if he had no cultivation, he would not have known that the old Daoist behind him was a Mahayana cultivator.

Height determines the view.

"The Buddhist Sect does not claim to be Immortal. I am merely Yuan Wu under the True Buddha, you might call me by my Buddhist name."

The old monk was correcting him, a common terminology mistake; Buddha, Immortal, and Demon are not the same. They are considered equal in a broad sense, but their essence is different.

Using Immortal to describe a Buddha was indeed incorrect; it carried a slightly derogatory connotation.

If it were another great power from the Daoist Sect, this mistake would not occur. If it were Qingcang Immortal, he would correct himself, but Gu Wen just quietly watched him.

Though Gu Wen did not reveal any aura and his gaze was calm, he stared indifferently at the old monk until he could no longer contain the panic in his heart, then he said with an indifferent voice, "Buddha is originally Dao, what difference does it make?"

The old monk’s mouth hung open like an old phlegm stuck in his throat, and although he had countless Buddhist doctrines in his heart, he couldn’t utter a word.

Suddenly, a Buddhist light fell from the mountain, and the old monk’s aura changed dramatically in an instant, his hunched back straightening slowly, a point of Buddhist light imprinted on his forehead.

Gu Wen now understood what this true Buddha of the Buddhist Sect meant; it was not a true Buddha in the real sense, but a position similar to that of the main of Grotto Heaven and Immortal Position. These bald donkeys should be called by their Positions.

The old monk slightly bowed his head and said, "Amitabha Buddha, Cultivators from the Mystical Sect who practice Qi Cultivation become Immortals, swallowing clouds and controlling myriad paths. Those in the Buddhist Sect who achieve Buddha, shape themselves into flat boats, bearing all living beings."

"Bearing all living beings still requires gold and silver; this Buddhist Sect really bears a heavy load."

Gu Wen stepped forward, and the old monk slightly blocked his path and said, "The Law should not be transmitted lightly, nor should it be cheaply transmitted. Moreover, shaving one’s head to become a monk involves not just shaving the hair on the head, but also shaving off the attachments in the heart. The Venerable may perceive the Daoist Skills as profound, but when it comes to the Buddhist Law, this old monk has a bit more superiority."

He slightly nodded his head, then articulated each word deliberately, "This is the True Buddha’s place of practice, please Venerable do not cause trouble, please come back when Qingcang Immortal consents."

Gu Wen’s gaze was indifferent; he originally did not want to cause trouble.

Because Yu Hua had arrangements, because the Buddha’s Buddhist Law was stronger, because he still wanted to go down the mountain and have a sip of Immortal Drunk.

But now, why hide and hesitate, why still cultivate with so much looking ahead and looking back.

Boom!

Suddenly, the sky cracked open, and the faint Buddhist light was blown away.

Gu Wen and the old monk looked up, a ten-thousand-zhang golden dragon rolled in between the clouds, with the Qingyi Taoist standing atop the dragon head, overlooking the Buddha Country.

-----------------

"Amitabha Buddha, I do not know which Fellow Daoist is visiting, if today’s Buddha Meeting is not for observing the ceremony, please come again on another day."

A Bodhisattva holding a Buddhist Bell stepped out of the void, and as soon as his words fell, a boundless giant hand descended, enveloping the heavens, and only the sound of bones cracking made people’s scalp tingle, the Bodhisattva fell down like a clay doll.

The visiting dignitaries fell silent, and all the monks in Buddha Country were stunned.

Who exactly is this deity, so audacious as to cause trouble in the Buddhist holy land? Did they really think under Qingcang Immortal’s rule, the laws were all-powerful?

Aside from the Daoist Sect’s Three Pure Mountain, most places where the law was enforced, utilizing even a quarter was already considered extremely strict. Facing a first-class sect presided over by a Venerable, it only needed a slight manipulation of the laws to be used for the Venerable.

Moreover, Sumeru Mountain is a Buddhist holy land, at least equivalent to one of the Three Pures. It could even be said that any single sect from the Three Pures would be hard-pressed to contend with Sumeru Mountain.

In just a moment, another Bodhisattva with even stronger power emerged seated on a white lion.

He cupped his hands and said, "Amitabha Buddha, Fellow Daoist’s attack was lethal, could it be that you do not regard our Buddhist Sect..."

Before he could finish, the golden dragon swept down, entwining and strangling the white lion, the Bodhisattva fled, but in the next moment was captured by a palm breaking through the void.

The Qingyi Taoist grabbed his shoulders, then exerted a slight force, white clouds congealed into the ground, forcing the Bodhisattva hard onto his knees.

"You only deserve to kneel when speaking to this Venerate."

Powerful! Extremely formidable.

The Bodhisattva seated on the white lion was originally an attendant to the left of the Grand Buddha Hall, serving as the Buddha’s left hand, the highest practicing Bodhisattva in Sumeru Mountain.

Yet now, he was forced by a Daoist who appeared out of nowhere to kneel on the ground.

Chi Yu Zi’s combat power had already reached its peak, enhanced by Gu Wen’s great Dao, in a sense, he was almost like a Grotto Heaven’s master. His strength was already beyond comparison from before, subtly no less than an Immortal.

The left attendant asked in terror, "Who exactly are you?"

"This Venerate is Red Dust, Yuqing Heavenly Venerate."

The Qingyi Taoist inexplicably belched, then materialized a wine gourd, tilted his head and gulped it down, wiping his mouth corner.

With an ordinary face carrying boundless arrogance, he declared loudly:

"All monks of Sumeru, all Bodhisattvas of the Buddhist Sect, come out and kneel to welcome this Venerate."

Yuqing Heavenly Venerate?!

Everyone was stunned; most people still did not know what Yuqing Heavenly Venerate looked like, seeing him now was probably unforgettable for a lifetime.

He has even stormed onto Sumeru Mountain.

Various forces who came to observe silently looked towards all the Bodhisattvas and Arhats, unanimously retreating from Sumeru Mountain.

The current Venerate holding sway over the world could be called the ultimate sovereign. The Daoist Sect’s renown had accumulated excessively, and how could the reincarnation of Buddha compare to the eight hundred years ruled by Qingcang Immortal?

Hundreds of people, unknown and from mixed origins, all bowed and greeted in unison, "Greetings, Yuqing Heavenly Venerate."

The Qingyi Taoist said, "Participating in the Buddha Meeting, with impure intentions, you too kneel down!"

"..."

This Yuqing Heavenly Venerate always seemed to have a rather peculiar style.
