Chapter 294: Chapter 193: Overwhelming the Lord Emperor
Mid-November, in the side chamber.
Jun Yan lay flat on the ground, the Immortal Sword slowly disappearing into his abdomen, its Sword Intent being guided by the Heavenly Corpse and used to cut through other Demons.
The Ten Thousand Demon Body could also be seen as a pot of hot soup, better for consuming the Demons being finely chopped within.
Jun Yan had split his soul, and one eye had permanently turned completely black, the aura of the Heavenly Corpse lingering at all times.
His cultivation had broken through, reaching the foundation of eighty-seven paths, equal to Chi Yu Zi.
"Ugly."
"Foul."
Chi Yu Zi and Chan Xi earnestly and yet expressionlessly commented one after another, then looked at each other and said in unison, "Fellow Daoist, our views are quite alike."
Veins bulged on Jun Yan’s forehead as he said, "As for those of average appearance in the Red Dust, why don’t I see you commenting on them? Even looking like this, I am still handsomer than him."
The two turned to look at Gu Wen, standing a bit behind, whose features were well-proportioned but indeed not as handsome as Jun Yan. However, for a Cultivator, one does not only look at the face but also at a person’s aura.
Aura can come from one’s Cultivation Technique, cultivation, or Daoist heart.
Gu Wen had cultivated many Immortal Skills, and both his physique and Divine Soul were fulfilled. If he did not conceal his aura, he could turn heads on the street as any Cultivator could see.
Chi Yu Zi was dumbfounded for a long time and did not speak, clearly lacking spiritual wisdom which could cause his mind to freeze.
Chan Xi, with the memory of a Three Pure Daoist, said with her usual honesty, "Junior brother, your natural appearance is befitting. If you wish to look better, it’s just a matter of a few Spells. You are now tainted with corpse energy and are an abomination to the heavens."
Standing to the side, Gu Wen remained unflustered. His naturally given appearance, be it ugly or beautiful, was just superficial; he wasn’t reliant on looks for his livelihood.
He asked, "If this continues, you’ll become a vassal and lose control of your body."
"Do we need to repeat this again and again?" Jun Yan rolled his eyes, "I am not like Chi Yu Zi, that naive girl. I know what I’m doing...Heh, young friend, no need to worry, I won’t cause trouble for myself."
Gu Wen raised an eyebrow as the Immortal Sword condensed once more in his hand.
"Young friend, wait, I have already occupied three parts of his soul, even if you decapitate him, it will be useless..."
Pfft!
Before the Heavenly Corpse could finish speaking, the Immortal Sword had already pierced into Jun Yan’s waist. Gu Wen watched as the will of the Heavenly Corpse did not fade, and he slowly withdrew the sword; the one-inch-long wound did not bleed, only revealing a dark void.
Jun Yan’s body was no longer that of a normal person, and he could regenerate any part below his head at any time, which also meant his physical strength was essentially null.
Gu Wen deduced, "It seems even the Immortal Sword can’t forcibly disconnect him now. Old Lord, are you still lucid?"
"Hiss....I’m awake..." Jun Yan breathed in sharply, his gaze filled with a deep sense of grievance. He had a lot of complaints about Gu Wen’s frequent stabbing, but he also knew he couldn’t restrict his actions.
The Great Demon was cunning and knew the human heart well. Every additional rule and restriction could increase the chances of Gu Wen being deceived.
He could die, but he absolutely couldn’t let the old thing that was the Heavenly Corpse live on in his place.
Gu Wen asked, "With three parts of your soul occupied, can you still maintain initiative after one soul?"
"I don’t know, maybe I can, or maybe he would let me control the body for a while because you’re here."
Jun Yan propped himself up and stood up, tightening his fist. His frail and pale body gained a bit of muscle, and he said with a smile, "At least I’ve gone from a sickly person to a normal one. I just don’t know how long this normality will last."
"Before that, I will use the old guy’s power to help you kill the Lord Emperor. If you truly become an immortal in the future, you may be able to revive me, a heap of Divine Soul and impurities."
Hoofbeats came from outside, with Jiang Jucai dismounting his horse, clad in silver armor, and entering the courtyard.
Seeing everyone gathered in the side chamber, he stood by the door waiting.
Gu Wen turned and cast a glance, to which Jiang Jucai stepped forward and bent in a bow, saying, "Mr. Wen, I have readied the troops, ready to attack the fort at the Luo River at your command."
That night, Gu Wen and his party left Jiang Family Village, with several hundred members of the Jiang family seeing them off.
Jiang Fugui, with greying hair, grabbed Gu Wen’s hand, tears streaking down his face, "Sir, why don’t we just forget it? Didn’t you say that by taking a step back we’d see a wider sky?"
Unaware of the matters of immortals and gods, Jiang Fugui knew Gu Wen’s character. The fact that Mr. Wen didn’t immediately go and slay the Emperor indicated that the Emperor was no simple character.
During the five years at Dragon Bridge, Mr. Wen dealt with any crushable enemy underfoot.
"If I’m not afraid, what are you afraid of?" Gu Wen comforted, "Once I conquer the world, I’ll let you take that seat, and then you can pass it to Jucai, letting your old Jiang family also have a turn as the ruler of the world."
Having said that, Gu Wen stepped forth and soared into the clouds, with his companions quickly following.
Their gaze rapidly ascended into the clouds, overlooking the land of Nanshui at dawn as the fog twined and the early morning light broke through.
A grand and mighty procession stretched for miles, like a giant dragon winding its way forward with the beginning and end out of sight. Banners whipped in the wind, the armor reflecting a cold luster; people from all walks of society had gathered into an army.
Gu Wen, with his hands behind his back, gazed into the distance where a great city stood at the gateway, blocking the only land route from Nanshui to the north.
Past layers of rolling green mountains and rivers, one could discern an old dragon lying in wait, with a gaze that seemed to reach out from a thousand miles away.
In this ineffable moment, Gu Wen seemed to see an aged Daoist in yellow robes.
Their eyes met, calm yet icy.
Hatred for the annihilation of his clan, loathing for having been enslaved.
Gu Wen still remembered being a beggar, kneeling on the ground, eating offal-like porridge from the officials with his hands. He remembered the humiliation of being pinned to the ground in front of Zhao Feng. He still remembered the torment of being an ordinary person in the furnace called Daqian.
