Chapter 233: Chapter 164 The True Dragon Before Leaping the Dragon Gate_2
Among the Devil Clan, there also existed ranks similar to the three rankings of the Human Race, but far more cruel; only death counted as a victory. If defeated, escape without loss of rank was the only consolation.
The once number one of the Devil Clan belonged to the White Tiger clan, now usurped by Ao Heng.
Bai Lanhu’s eyes shimmered with a hint of cold as he said, "Ao Heng, you’re injured."
"Ha, even at half strength, I could easily kill a bastard like you."
Contempt was evident on Ao Heng’s face, imbued with an inherent sense of superiority.
The Devil Clan was much more straightforward than the elites of the Human Race, never hesitating to throw out insults and call others trash and bastards.
"In that case, I would like to see just what kind of strength a long worm like you possesses!"
Bai Lanhu attacked Ao Heng again, their massive forms clashing in the skies above.
The tiger stripes commanded the wind, its mouth bearing the Taoist Sword, enveloped in a White Tiger Divine Skill’s killing intent that could overpower those a level higher than itself—it wasn’t weak by any means. When compared to the Human Race, it would undoubtedly be ranked within the top five, matching the likes of Chi Yu Zi and Jun Yan.
The Azure Dragon handled the White Tiger’s attacks with ease—merely flicking its tail could stir up millions of clouds and counter all assaults.
Its strength was unfathomable, clearly not on the same level as that of the White Tiger.
However, the fierce battle between them was actually somewhat restrained; they hadn’t yet unleashed their full power.
After all, they had missions to complete and wouldn’t want to explain to their superiors about getting delayed by fighting to the death.
Nevertheless, Ao Heng showed no mercy in his relentless verbal abuse towards the White Tiger Saint Heir:
"So this is all you’re capable of? You wish to compete with me for Miss Qing with such pitiful strength?"
"This is your full effort? How laughable. Better to go back to your wet nurse and suckle, instead of embarrassing yourself here."
"Bastard is as bastard does."
The tiger’s eyes of the White Tiger Saint Heir became bloodshot, overwhelmed by fury he could no longer contain, baring his fangs in a furious roar, "Ao Heng, don’t push a devil too far. Even with you injured, it’s not guaranteed who will win if I exert my full strength."
"Just the likes of a little bastard like you?"
Ao Heng knew his opponent was furious, already hearing the warning of a certain Devil Saint from beyond the skies.
He smirked, disdain in both his gaze and divine thought, flaunting his arrogance to the extreme.
"Your brother died by my hand years ago; it’s best I leave some lineage for your White Tiger clan."
The White Tiger, pushed over the edge, let out a roar that split the heavens, beckoning surreal phenomena.
The sky reddened with boundless killing intent, and a demonic wind from the west stirred up endless dark clouds into a vast vortex.
At this moment, the Azure Dragon suddenly dove from the sky, its tail whipping out like a lash, striking the White Tiger who was still gathering his strength.
Boom!
The colossal tiger’s body crashed onto a mountaintop, immediately reducing a peak hundreds of meters tall by a significant chunk.
"Ao Heng, enough!"
The Fire Phoenix spread its wings, positioning itself before the Azure Dragon.
"If you continue, don’t blame us for turning on you."
"Just you few bastards."
Ao Heng reverted to human form, signaling a concession, but couldn’t resist getting the last word.
He truly looked down on them, like this so-called White Tiger Saint Heir who hadn’t even mastered one of the thirty-six Immortal Skills—the White Tiger form; how could he stand against Ao Heng?
The other prodigies of the Xuan Turtle and Fire Bird clans had practiced immortal skills, but they were of a much lower order, probably incapable of perfecting them.
Half-immortal was a peak they might not reach in their entire lives, yet Ao Heng was confident he could leap the Dragon Gate and become a True Dragon. With his own strength and position far surpassing theirs, Ao Heng saw no need for courtesy towards these trash.
If not for his clan elder’s order, Ao Heng wouldn’t have even bothered coming here to face someone who might as well be an Immortal.
Ao Heng slowly descended, and right then, scales involuntarily surfaced on his skin. A chill shot through his forehead, and a streak of white light pierced through from the left.
In this instant, time slowed, and the scent of death drew near.
He turned his head as fast as he could, catching sight of a thirty-feet-tall golden figure flying from afar at incredible speed. However, the real threat did not emanate from the golden figure, but from the man half-crouching on its arm.
Gu Wen drew out the Immortal Sword and swung it forth, its edge cold as snow and sharp as ice.
The arrogant Ao Heng learned the art of retreat, frantically attempting to dodge, but the golden figure and sword light were quicker.
Clang!
Gu Wen wielded the sword, its utmost refined blade crescent cleaving forward. The Azure Dragon reappeared, and the sword light struck upon the thousand-feet-tall dharma form, neatly slicing through the sturdy scales and tearing flesh and bone.
A vast wound was left behind; the lingering sword light grazed the dragon’s body and fell upon another mountain in the distance, severing the barren peak obliquely and triggering a landslide.
Rumble!
Rocks tumbled without end, and mudflows swept away everything.
Ao Heng had finally completed his first breath, and a massive wound had opened up in the belly of his dragon body, blood gushing out like a small stream.
But the attack wasn’t over yet, Gu Wen already had the second Immortal Sword in his hand ready to unleash another strike while Chi Yu Zi charged into the range of the Azure Dragon. Ao Heng, while desperately retreating, spewed dragon’s breath that engulfed the golden statue and Gu Wen.
Under the defense of the indestructible Taoist Body and the Golden Light Spell, such hastily conjured attacks were utterly useless.
Gu Wen aimed for the wound and slashed down, but Ao Heng fiercely spun his body around to reveal his back, thereby also giving up the chance to attack, as Chi Yu Zi launched a punch.
The Immortal Sword and fist hit Ao Heng one after another, and the Azure Dragon crashed to the ground with a thunderous sound.
Just as Gu Wen and Chi Yu Zi were about to continue their killing blows, a Fire Phoenix and a Xuan Turtle had already blocked their way, forcing them to stop in their tracks.
Suddenly, a mass of black qi rushed from another direction, flying past the Fire Phoenix and Xuan Turtle directly towards Ao Heng who lay below.
The Fire Phoenix, unable to free itself, transmitted a message: "Bai Lanhu, stop him!"
The White Tiger staggered to his feet, visibly slow by half a step, and it was unclear whether it was intentional or not; he allowed the black qi to fly past without any obstruction.
"What are you doing!?"
The Fire Phoenix was both shocked and angry; if they lost even one person now, they wouldn’t be able to stop the Daoist Sect’s party.
If in the end the Devil Clan Saint were to intervene, even if it was just an avatar, the Human Race side would surely have a group of great powers intervene as well. It wasn’t even unthinkable that the Sanqing Taoist Sect would truly explode in conflict with them, using Three Pure Mountain to crush Jianmu.
It was said that when the Qingcang Immortal founded the Sanqing Taoist Sect by merging The Three Pure Ones, the construction of Three Pure Mountain was intended as a means for mutual annihilation.
Otherwise, why choose the location above the Nine Heavens?
"He’s considered the best under the heavens, isn’t he? This minor injury is not an issue."
The White Tiger was still moving leisurely. He didn’t believe that Ao Heng could be easily killed.
"Idiot, it’s just as bad if he’s injured."
The Fire Phoenix attempted to catch up by relying on speed, but Chi Yu Zi had already stepped on her, grabbing her feathers and hammering her wildly.
The punch was heavy and forceful, the sound of it hitting the Fire Phoenix was as loud as thunder.
The Xuan Turtle faced off against Gu Wen, and attacking the turtle shell with the Chopping Clouds Sword made Gu Wen’s hand go numb. The Xuan Turtle’s eight out of six levels of foundation were three levels higher than his, but it clearly wasn’t skilled in offense.
Hum!
A subtle vibration suddenly arose, making everyone feel a chill in their hearts, and then an invisible wave swept out from where Ao Heng had fallen to the ground, as if it had expelled all the air from within a ten-mile radius.
A streak of blood light appeared, and the red glow, seemingly slow but actually expanding thousands of meters in a breath, formed a hemispheric dome that devoured everything in an instant.
Boundless bloodthirsty qi engulfed everything around it.
Bai Lanhu’s eyes widened, the Fire Phoenix was stunned, and eyes from all directions, whether hidden or apparent, froze.
"Bloodthirsty Demon Skill!?"
Chi Yu Zi’s eyes widened, and his mind filled with a few unpleasant suspicions.
Gu Wen narrowed his eyes slightly. He couldn’t feel Jun Yan’s aura anymore—had he died?
As the bloodthirst disappeared, a severed head flew toward Gu Wen’s direction, transforming into a handsome man in just a few breaths.
Jun Yan’s face was pale as he said, "Not dead."
Everyone’s gaze turned to the bare pit on the ground where a blood-soaked Azure Dragon lay curled up.
The Azure Dragon slightly shifted, transforming back into his human form. Ao Heng was soaked in blood, yet his aura hadn’t weakened at all; in fact, it had grown stronger.
He stepped into the middle of the battlefield, only a hundred paces away from Gu Wen, standing even closer to the front than the Fire Phoenix.
He looked back and gave the White Tiger a cold look, "I indeed do not need the likes of you to save me."
Then Ao Heng looked at the three people in front of him, his gaze naturally passing over Chi Yu Zi and Jun Yan, settling on the unremarkable Gu Wen.
His face full of madness displayed a humble smile as he slightly bowed, "I am Ao Heng, may I dare to ask for the Fellow Daoist’s name."
The White Tiger’s eyes bulged, and somewhat sourly said, "Why are you being polite to these Daoist Sect folks?"
Calling them scum one second, then showing a friendly face when meeting this heir of the Daoist Sect?
"Scum, shut your mouth."
Ao Heng shot a glance at him.
He was a True Dragon yet to leap through the Dragon Gate, and the man in front of him was a Sword Immortal yet to wield the Immortal Sword. The scrubs around him were different from him; Gu Wen was of the same kind as him.
Under the heavens, there was no distinction between the Human Race and the Devil Clan; only an outcast like one who stands against the heavens would concern themselves with such. Beings are like weeds: inextinguishable, unending. Only by achieving Immortality and transcendence can one truly stand tall between heaven and earth.
Everything else is mere ants.
