Chapter 201: Chapter 149: The Devil Emperor Possesses a Body and Becomes a Venerable_2
"Hu Yuan? He surely hasn’t let it get away, right?"
"Hu Yuan is Tushan Xue, it might be some internal strife within the Devil Clan, with the Crown Prince wandering outside, planning to return for his revenge."
Gu Wen spoke nonchalantly as he began to sort out the spoils of war.
He confirmed the Pills were not poisoned and directly popped them into his mouth, obtaining a small amount of Heavenly Marrow, and his Mana was greatly replenished, returning to its peak.
Generally, Pills that contained much Heavenly Marrow were to accelerate the cultivation of the Dao foundation, and thus no one would keep them but would consume them as soon as they got them.
But fortunately, the cultivation of the Devil Clan differed from the Human Race, and their flesh and Demon Cores would retain some residue.
Gu Wen weighed two Demon Cores, one white and one black, in his hand; to show respect, he first swallowed the black inner core of the Sheep Demon.
He couldn’t allow the lowly Demon Core of the Sheep Demon to mix with the noble Demon Core of the fox demon royal family.
[Eighty years of Heavenly Marrow]
Thirty years of Heavenly Marrow per Demon Core wasn’t considered too little, and eating the flesh would contain a portion of Heavenly Marrow still.
Ao Tang frowned slightly, saying, "I have heard that a millennium ago, a disturbance happened in Qingqiu, resulting in the fall of a Devil Emperor. Could this lady be the bloodline of a previous generation Devil Emperor left outside?"
"It’s possible, but it has nothing to do with us. There are countless secrets in the world, and many are quite tedious."
Gu Wen could read much information from the few words spoken by Tushan Xue.
For example, Qingqiu was ruled by the Tushan, then why did she initially use the last name Hu, and also her method of completely changing her aura at the end, as well as the slight presence of Immortal Skill in her.
Those petals were able to barely resist one or two strokes from the Immortal Sword, which means the force could only be of the same level.
But what did that have to do with himself? Under heaven, who doesn’t have some secrets? Chi Yu Zi’s one soul and one spirit, Jun Yan’s experiences in the Burial Cave, and the Qingcang Immortal’s presence within Yu Hua, all of these are more significant than some royal family intrigue.
It’s better to focus on the Demon Core in hand, as well as the fur that could be made into clothing for one’s own use.
Suddenly, two items caught his eye.
The letter was no ordinary item, the paper resilient like tendons; within it carried strands of an extremely formidable presence, containing some great power’s infusion of Dao essence.
The Token, however, seemed plain and unremarkable, but in such circumstances, the plainer something was, the greater its origins likely were.
Chi Yu Zi as well noticed the Token, picking it up to tap and knock, looking it over from all sides, even biting it in his mouth.
Do you belong to the dog family?
Gu Wen internally mocked, and then he opened the letter to inspect its contents.
However, just from the first sentence, he felt a shiver in his spirit.
[I was once the sixth generation Devil Emperor of Qingqiu, receiving this letter as meeting in person]
[In former times, the Devil Clan of Tushan reigned supreme, its imperial might revered by myriad spirits. Unfortunately, treachery usurped the state, the imperial power was lost, causing the bloodline to become scattered, and the clan to drift; upon hearing this, it deeply pained my heart and soul.]
[However, heaven blesses Tushan, as there is still pure Divine Blood left outside, and I have also achieved rebirth by seizing another body, now holding the position of Sect Leader of a Major Sect within Daoist Sects. Though I reside in a different form, my heart is with my homeland, wishing to assist you in returning to Qingqiu to ascend to the throne of Devil Emperor.]
Mr. Hee’s sect?
Gu Wen remembered that the Yin Yang Sect was ranked among the top ten Major Daoist Sects and was also the sect where Hee Huan was.
In the Cultivation World, there exist many sects that focus on Dual Cultivation, which further divide into the Furnace Cauldron Sects and Dual Cultivation Sects. The former belongs to the Demon Path, while the latter belongs to the Mystical Sect. Among them, the strongest in the Mystical Sect’s Dual Cultivation is the Yin Yang Sect.
Moreover, according to Hee Huan, the Righteous Path of the Mystical Sect isn’t necessarily righteous. The Yin Yang Sect practices polygamy with one cultivator having multiple partners, which often leads to coercive behaviors due to certain inherent talents.
Hee Huan had already thought of a solution: to tarnish his reputation a bit and find a few hundred at once. For fame and fortune, there are plenty of people willing to sell their bodies, and as long as Hee Huan doesn’t mind being cuckolded, there are ways to find cauldrons.
However, given Hee Huan’s appearance and his standard of seeking only ’true love,’ it seems quite unlikely he’ll end up being cuckolded.
As a genius from a sect, he could still afford to support a group of ordinary women.
If the content of the letter is true, Hee Huan’s ancestor was actually the Devil Emperor who possessed a new body and was reborn.
A Devil Emperor from the Devil Clan had possessed a Venerable from one of the top ten Daoist sects—a great power of the Dao Realm, one of the most powerful, capable of possessing demi-immortal strength.
And it had been accomplished undetected, with the target being someone from the Devil Clan.
"What’s written inside?" asked Chi Yu Zi as he leaned in to look. His expression changed drastically; he could no longer suppress his killing intent, and with a bang, the surrounding dust and gravel were scattered.
Gu Wen reacted quickly, protecting the two demon corpses. They contained Heavenly Marrow, and he wanted to make full use of them for consumption.
Tushan Xue once said something he greatly agreed with: "In the world, everything revolves around eating and death. To eat is the right of the victor, and death is the destination of the loser."
"Devil Emperor in possession, and now holds the status of a Venerable?"
Chi Yu Zi appeared to be extremely shocked. Ao Tang, who had been lying down, sat up abruptly, his expression turning exceedingly serious.
He sent out his Divine Thought to examine the contents of the letter. After a stunned pause, he furrowed his brows and said, "Have the previous generation’s leader of the Yin Yang Sect and the other great powers reached the fifth decline of Heaven and Man, losing their mental clarity? How could this have happened?"
Without needing Gu Wen to ask further, Ao Tang lowered his head, muttering to himself and began to ponder, "Possessing the body of a great power holds no meaning and is extremely difficult to achieve. But among the younger disciples, the true disciples all have Divine Soul restrictions, checked regularly every ten years, in addition to various other Divine Soul examinations."
Gu Wen asked, "Are there no countermeasures?"
"Of course, there are," Ao Tang replied, "but the outcome between two conflicting magic skills will depend on the difference in strength. The checks would usually be the Golden Core Stage against the Mahayana Realm, but I guess for the Yin Yang Sect it would be the Dao Realm, spanning seven or eight realms."
Ao Tang then explained to Gu Wen how a Major Sect would deal with soul possession and the various mechanisms involved.
There are two types of soul possession: fulfilled integration and mere integration. The former is hard to detect, and the latter can be easily recognized by familiar people. Typically, only the former is discussed.
Fulfilled soul possession does not exist above the Nascent Soul Stage. Once a cultivator condenses their Nascent Soul, their body begins to fuse with it, making separation difficult. The subsequent Divine Separation and Unification realms are steps to repeat this process. Divine Separation aims to transform the Nascent Soul into a Primordial Spirit, and Unification transforms the Primordial Spirit into a True Spirit.
This repetition stems from the fact that few people can directly condense a Primordial Spirit, and it’s impossible to transform a Primordial Spirit into a True Spirit in one step.
It could be done in one go if forced, but this brings up an issue: completely insufficient lifespan.
The difficulty level for Nascent Soul is one, Primordial Spirit is ten, and True Spirit is one hundred.
The difficulty gap needs time to overcome, just as primary progresses to middle school, and middle school to university. To say one could complete a PhD in elementary school, while a diploma could be issued, is virtually impossible in reality.
Gu Wen listened and found it very familiar. Isn’t this what he did with his four levels of Dao foundation?
But it wasn’t as complicated as the external situation, such as reaching Primordial Spirit in one step at the fourth level of Dao foundation, with the fourth level already transformed into True Spirit.
Gu Wen’s Primordial Spirit’s full title was Five Spirits Mixed Element True Spirit Heavenly Lord, meaning that at the time of his fourth-level Dao foundation, he immediately possessed the qualities associated with the outer realms that would normally accumulate until the Unification Realm.
