Chapter 132: Chapter 110 All Three Swords Shattered, The Essence of Broken Swords.
Three days later, with ten days left until the event at Heavenly Spring Mountain began,
Gu Wen had completely refined the last batch of pills and the Mana Crystal Sword Qi given by Chi Yu Zi.
The refinement of the pills yielded fifty years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow, plus the previous ten, making it sixty years in total. The Buddha Sword and Demon Sword were gradually developing a significant gap due to the differences in whom he consulted.
[Heavenly Marrow: Sixty years]
[Heavenly Marrow needed for Third Level Buddha Sword: Seventy years]
[Heavenly Marrow needed for Third Level Demon Sword: Forty years]
[The Dharma Form of the Jade Sword requires eighty years to form]
After a long look at both swords, Gu Wen decided it was better to fleece Xiao Yunyi a bit more, aiming to press down to ten years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow if possible, or at least to thirty years’ worth.
Thus, after refining the two swords for sixty years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow to break through to the Third Level of the True Sword Dao, the discounted Heavenly Marrow would go to the Jade Sword Dharma Form.
Originally, the Dharma Form of the Jade Sword needed one hundred and sixty years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow, and every thirty-percent discount equated to forty-eight years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow. However, due to some immeasurable factors, Gu Wen typically considered it as ten years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow.
In actuality, the Jade Sword Dharma Form only needed approximately forty years’ worth of Heavenly Marrow.
"Jiu Zhenjun still wants fifty jars of Spiritual Wine, but this stuff is a bit hard to digest."
Gu Wen felt somewhat troubled; he suddenly realized that he might not have enough Heavenly Marrow, and might have to drink the wine with gritted teeth to gather enough.
But drinking Spiritual Wine was sure to get him drunk, unlike taking pills where he could still consult others on sword arts while refining the medicine. He wasn’t like Chi Yu Zi, that lush, who couldn’t handle eight jars in a day.
Suddenly, a flash of spirit light crossed his mind, and Gu Wen emerged from meditation, descending a floor to inquire about the date from the innkeeper.
It was August 30th; tomorrow would be the first day of September.
Which meant that the Divine Tree’s friend’s gathering was coming!
The next morning, Gu Wen dragged Yu Hua downstairs and found a spot to sit under a banyan tree.
Yu Hua asked, "Do you really enjoy eating Spirit Fruit that much?"
"Better than pills and many Spiritual Medicines."
Gu Wen replied truthfully; he liked the Heavenly Marrow, but that didn’t stop him from thinking the Spirit Fruit was indeed delectable.
Whether it was medicine fruits, Earth Medicine Pearls, or various pills, their flavor was generally quite intense. It was like drinking herbal medicine, but after cultivating, Gu Wen’s endurance had improved, and taking them had become less difficult.
But a dislike for bitterness didn’t mean a fondness for eating bitter things; he usually liked to ask Yu Hua for sweet pills.
Thump.
A noise came from above, and three Spirit Fruits fell.
Gu Wen caught two, and Yu Hua caught one.
The former immediately stuffed one into his mouth; the latter peered at the Spirit Fruit, nibbled at it slightly, and said, "If what you like is the medicinal property of this fruit, you may not find it anymore once you enter the Cultivation World, but if it’s the taste, there are better things than this."
Gu Wen, his cheeks stuffed like a squirrel, asked unclearly, "What’s better?"
"The Hundred Fruit Banquet. It is held by the Immortal Elixir garden of the premier Alchemy sect in the Cultivation World, once every hundred years, hosting Cultivators above the Golden Core level. Depending on cultivation level, from Golden Core eating ten-year-old spiritual fruits to Mahayana eating five-hundred-year-old spiritual fruits."
Yu Hua answered, then handed her fruit to Gu Wen; she just wanted a taste and didn’t need the medicinal power within.
Gu Wen, finishing off the fruits in just a few bites and still wanting more, said, "Let’s go take a look in the future, is it free?"
Yu Hua chuckled, "Naturally not. However, if you were the Yuqing Heavenly Venerate, it would not be necessary, as it would be their honor to have a Venerable attend, and they would be remiss not to offer thousand-year-old spiritual fruits as hospitality."
"That would be quite good."
Gu Wen looked to the heavens, indulging in a brief fantasy, increasingly eager to see what wonders lay beyond the sky.
A Hundred Fruit Garden, wouldn’t that be similar to the Peach Banquet?
[Heavenly Marrow: Eighty years]
The information from the Fate Diagram snapped Gu Wen out of his reverie, as a figure bathed in white and gold entered his field of vision.
Jade Sword Buddha approached from a distance and stood beside them, extending a hand; a Spirit Fruit fell, and in an ethereal voice, she asked, "Would you like this?"
After making sure multiple times that this nun, who had been indifferent towards him, was indeed looking at him, Gu Wen responded, "You want to give it to me?"
Could it be that this was what they called fate?
"Mhm." Jade Sword Buddha nodded slightly and said, "The little nun would like to exchange this for a strand of your Sword Qi, the Sword Qi of the True Sword Dao."
One Spirit Fruit worth ten years of Heavenly Marrow in exchange for a strand of Sword Qi?
Gu Wen was stunned for a moment, his first reaction being how such a profitable deal could exist in the world. He knew the specialness of the True Sword Dao but was even more aware of the value of Heavenly Marrow and how much Sword Qi he possessed.
Sword Qi was like hair, in that it could grow back. If this strand of Sword Qi were one percent of his Mana, he could gather the Heavenly Marrow needed for the Fate Diagram in just one day’s effort.
The principle that rarity increases value was true, but that value wasn’t meant to be hoarded; it should be turned into something advantageous for oneself.
Whether Jade Sword Buddha would also come to understand the True Sword Dao from this exchange wasn’t Gu Wen’s concern. It was a foolish and petty question because if someone were so talented that they could understand it from a single strand of Sword Qi, they wouldn’t fail to understand it just because Gu Wen didn’t give it to them.
If Jade Sword Buddha truly had such an ability, he would be happy to sell a favor.
No, would this favor be of any use?
Gu Wen suddenly remembered this nun wasn’t normal and might forget him once this transaction was over.
He asked, "Just one fruit?"
Jade Sword Buddha’s eyes, as pure as glass, showed confusion as she answered, "But the little nun only has this Spirit Fruit."
"You’ll have one Spirit Fruit every month. Why not give them all to me?"
Gu Wen boldly declared, knowing he wouldn’t make such a request of a normal person, but considering the nun’s unique nature, he sought a bit of extra value.
