Chapter 110: Chapter 95: The Little Nun Snatches the Taoist
The Demon, a great power of the Demon Path, was nearly ground into the earth, unable to even lift his head.
Yet even so, his body remained robust as if made of fine iron; it was unclear whether he had regained a portion of his strength through seizing a new body and being reborn. His precise cultivation level gradually revealed itself as he resisted the Buddha’s dharma form.
His Daoist foundational level was at the Eighth Level, four of which were fulfilled.
His foundational level was the same as Ao Tang’s, meaning the opponent was at least a great power within the Body Integration Realm. The foundational level represents the upper limit, but it is not a very strict exchange system—a Seventh Level foundational level can only indicate a high probability of breaking through to the Fourth Realm.
What truly mattered was the dharma form condensed from the foundational level, completing the most fundamental dharma form of the Fourth Realm. It was akin to laying a solid foundation beforehand, only needing to add bricks on top. Cultivation can be accumulated day by day, but the foundational level can only rely on innate talent.
Jade Sword Buddha was at the Sixth Level with each combining to form twelve levels—equivalent to Ao Tang.
But in reality, it was a thorough crushing; the Demon great power had almost no ability to resist, even more exaggerated than Gu Wen challenging a Seventh Level True Monarch across ranks.
Is this the future Buddha Ancestor, the inheritor of the Three Religions?
Jade Sword Buddha turned to Gu Wen and said, "Sword Dao is ever-changing, and this monk’s sword follows the great momentum. You may choose to learn or not, but the method to condense your sword is of utmost importance. Look at this Demon’s foundational level; it is as fragile as your Sword Heart."
Such pressure on the Demon great power wasn’t his full strength?
Gu Wen showed a look of surprise, understanding that there was a huge difference between fighting at ease and exerting full strength. Speaking for himself, his Daoist Skill’s power differed by three times when he was at ease compared to when he was going all out, and controlling a target could differ by a factor of five.
"You junior! How dare you insult this old one? Ahhhhh!"
The Demon great power felt an immense insult, and streams of black energy surged like a tsunami, instantly burying the entire hollow. The two below used their movement techniques to leave, one of them badly injured and struggling to escape. Gu Wen, seeing this, leaped down like an eagle, snatched the person up, and quickly left the danger.
"Many thanks, Fellow Daoist."
The person, coughing up blood, took out a black bead from his bosom and said, "There is no way I could repay you for saving my life. This is an opportunity obtained from a cave dwelling. I have looked at it once, but it does not impede you from learning."
Very good, quite forthcoming, indeed effortless to obtain.
Gu Wen put it inside his Qiankun Bag and then continued to observe the situation below.
He saw the Buddha still firmly suppressing the Demon great power. He had just propped up half his dharma form, and yet another sword came down, crushing the dharma form with the force of pulling down a decaying tree.
There were still four Buddha Swords unused—could it be she only exerted less than half her strength?
Gu Wen took a deep breath of cool air.
"Your foundational level has four levels, of which three are fulfilled; you should be able to grasp the essence of fulfillment. The foundational level is the basis of all Daoist Skills, capable of harnessing the meaning of myriad techniques; your Swordsmanship can be fulfilled."
Jade Sword Buddha, whether having a sudden realization or not, no longer spoke of the true meaning of Sword Dao stiffly; the Buddha’s dharma form became slower in drawing the sword, as if to imprint every change into Gu Wen’s heart and mind.
Jade Sword Buddha noticed the change in Gu Wen, showed a look of surprise, and then continued to say:
"Cultivation is like building a Buddhist temple from flat ground; the sturdiness of the temple approaches that of the foundation, while the expansiveness of the tall building depends on the Buddha statue. This Demon has eight temples but only invited four Buddhas, whereas my six temples each contain a true Buddha."
"Therefore, no matter how many temples he has, my single Buddha Ancestor can suppress him completely."
Gu Wen seemed to gradually understand the "Buddha Sword" within his Qi Sea; enlightenment surged within him. Although it wasn’t enough for him to achieve enlightenment overnight, the misty Buddhist Law started to reveal its true form.
[Buddha Sword—Drawing from the great momentum between heaven and earth, a single sword can forge three thousand worlds, one level takes a hundred years of Heavenly Marrow to achieve.]
Jade Sword Buddha smiled and said, "It seems Benefactor also has a connection with Buddhism; hence, I shall explain to you the true meaning of my Buddha...."
Before she finished, there was a ’snap!’ and the Nun’s bald head gleamed with a touch of rosiness. Touching her head, she fell silent and turned her attention back to explaining Sword Dao.
The Old Demon had become her teaching material; perhaps he had the power to move mountains and fill seas outside, but here, he could only be stepped into the mud like a dead dog.
Gu Wen’s Sword Intent also grew rapidly, his understanding of Sword Dao no longer as superficial as before. He gradually became aware of a significant flaw in Heavenly Marrow; it could allow quick mastery of a Cultivation Technique, but it wasn’t enlightenment. When it came to accumulation, it seemed incomplete.
Cultivating the Sword Heart, he simply honed it step by step, without ever considering the quality of Sword Intent, Sword Qi, or dharma form.
His strongest technique, Flame Spear, also wasn’t entirely due to Heavenly Marrow; the final step was his own understanding.
To be the strongest, one must take the final step on their own; Heavenly Marrow can only accelerate, but it cannot become the ultimate method.
"Swordsmanship lies in firmness, not force."
"Sword Intent lies in resilience, not sharpness."
"Sword Heart lies in thickness, not strength."
"Firmness, resilience, and thickness are the advantages of Sword Dao."
As the last word dropped, the Demon’s great power’s body, as indestructible as mysterious iron, instantaneously turned into a mist of blood, with flesh and bone sliced as thin as cicada wings.
His Primordial Spirit tried to escape the shackles of the flesh, looking to flee. Sword Buddha’s dharma form swung another sword; half the sky was enveloped in golden Buddha light, the sword light flashing and slicing off a distant mountaintop.
Boom!
The mountaintop tilted and turned into a landslide rushing into the hollow, burying its corpse.
Using this as a reference, Jade Sword Buddha instantly achieved three levels of fulfillment.
"Has the Benefactor comprehended it?"
Jade Sword Buddha turned around, her white jade-like head gleaming under the sunlight.
A glint of Sword Light shone in Gu Wen’s eyes, more restrained than before; his Sword Heart was solid and tangible, compared to his former crystalline transparency, it now had a slightly rougher feel.
