Chapter 50: Chapter 50 : Keeping A Secret (2)
Somewhere along the way, Xie Jianyu must have decided that Zhang Fengxi was not an ambitious person.
Maybe because his father, the Longjing Palace Master Zhang Zhiyuan never made a lot of fuss regarding the Dragon Throne’s succession.
Either way, Xie Jianyu had decided to trust him.
Not like he had any other option, really...
"My lips are sealed," was Zhang Fengxi’s answer.
Before the Crown Prince could exhale out of relief, he was hit with the alpha’s words.
"You cannot hide it forever. What do you plan to do?"
Xie Jianyu pressed his lips together.
Of course, there was a plan.
There was a huge plan that his father and his elder brother were concocting together. No one had ever asked for Xie Jianyu’s permission, let alone his opinion.
"It will be dealt with," Xie Jianyu answered curtly. "You don’t have to worry about it."
He did not know how long the process would take, or how many more treatments he required. Either way, he had to go through it.
Zhang Fengxi observed Xie Jianyu’s tense facial expression in silence. For some reason, he recalled the Golden Dragon Palace people using the same phrase many times in his past life.
"It will be dealt with" was usually used when the person intended to fix a growing issue by nipping it in the bud. Murder, or...
Zhang Fengxi’s expression became complicated. He grabbed Xie Jianyu’s wrist, making the latter look at him in confusion.
"Xie Jianyu, you should not do anything unnecessary."
"..."
"You need to take good care of yourself."
Xie Jianyu lowered his gaze. He slowly withdrew his hand from Zhang Fengxi’s grip.
"I am."
At least, he tried. There was nothing he could do against his father or his elder brother.
Zhang Fengxi thought that Xie Jianyu was really too pitiful. His mother passed away soon after giving birth to him.
His father, the Heavenly Emperor, was busy ruling over the entire heaven. When the Emperor took a new Empress, life became harder for Xie Jianyu.
It was common knowledge that the second Empress was committed to giving birth to a son. She wanted her biological child to sit on the Dragon Throne.
The only one who Xie Jianyu saw as a parent figure was ironically his elder brother, Xie Jianshen.
Xie Jianyu was the Crown Prince, the Fuxi Palace Master. But he was also the loneliest person in the entire heavenly realm.
If he were a real alpha, Zhang Fengxi might just put an arm around his shoulder and give him an encouraging hug. Xie Jianyu was younger than him by two years. Did it not make him the elder brother and Xie Jianyu the younger brother?
And then a brilliant idea occurred to Zhang Fengxi.
"Why don’t we become sworn brothers?" he asked.
Wouldn’t that be great? If they were sworn brothers, Zhang Fengxi was required to defend Xie Jianyu. It did not matter what his gender was.
Unexpectedly, Xie Jianyu’s expression turned sour.
"I don’t want to be your sworn brother."
"..."
"..."
"Oh, hahaha... it’s okay. It was just a suggestion."
An offensive suggestion, it seemed.
Xie Jianyu took a roasted fish, moved away from him, and started eating.
Siiiiiigh.
Omegas were so difficult to understand.
Just what did he do wrong, again?
"By the way, can you walk?" Zhang Fengxi asked. He needed to say something to clear the awkward atmosphere between them. If only he did not mention the sworn brothers thing...
"I can walk," Xie Jianyu said.
"Great. For some reason, they are taking ages to rescue us. Maybe we should take initiative and get out on our own."
Xie Jianyu nodded.
He tried to get up on his own, but pain prevented him from doing so.
Zhang Fengxi extended his hand in Xie Jianyu’s direction. Xie Jianyu stared at his hand as if it were poisonous.
"Seriously?" Zhang Fengxi raised an eyebrow at Xie Jianyu. "You don’t even want to take my hand?"
"..."
Xie Jianyu placed his hand into Zhang Fengxi’s wordlessly. An inexplicable feeling spread in Zhang Fengxi’s heart when he held Xie Jianyu’s hand in his.
Xie Jianyu’s hand was not as soft as that of Liu Wenyuan. It was the hand of a swordsman.
Xie Jianyu had worked really hard to maintain the alpha image in front of public eyes.
Zhang Fengxi put Xie Jianyu’s arm around his neck. He held Xie Jianyu by his waist. Without their boots, Xie Jianyu was really too short.
"Aren’t they heavy?" Zhang Fengxi asked when Xie Jianyu slipped his feet into the dried boots one by one.
"I already got used to it," Xie Jianyu answered.
Zhang Fengxi sighed in his heart.
Xie Jianyu, oh, Xie Jianyu.
...
After they exited the tunnel, they were stunned to find the search party digging at the lowest entrance. Among them, Zhang Fengxi spotted Liu Wenyuan.
Oh, his poor Wenyuan. He looked like he had been crying for hours. He must have rushed over because he was worried.
"Wenyuan!!!" Zhang Fengxi shouted at the top of his lungs.
Everyone turned their heads in his direction.
"Little Uncle!!!" Jiang Muchen cried out and quickly flew upward.
Xie Jianyu took his arm away from Zhang Fengxi’s shoulder and supported himself by using Winter Frost.
"Muchen."
"Little Uncle! Oh, heavens! I was so worried...!!!"
Zhang Fengxi flew downward to greet his lover.
"Prince Fengxi!"
Liu Wenyuan spilled another round of tears. He grabbed Zhang Fengxi’s robe and sobbed at his chest uncontrollably.
"I rushed over as soon as I heard the news... My heart almost stopped when you went missing... How could you do this to me..."
Zhang Fengxi pressed a kiss against Liu Wenyuan’s cheek.
"There, there," he comforted the omega. "I am fine. It was a little mishap, that’s all."
Liu Wenyuan looked up at Zhang Fengxi. He looked so pitiful with tears running down his face and a reddened nose.
"Please do not put yourself in similar danger again," he begged.
"I won’t, I won’t," Zhang Fengxi laughed while patting Liu Wenyuan’s head. "Don’t cry anymore, alright?"
Liu Wenyuan smiled and nodded. But then he saw something that caused the blood inside his veins to freeze.
The roaring dragon sigil of Fuxi Palace was embroidered into the inner robe that Zhang Fengxi was wearing.
