It would be catastrophic to have the two palace mistresses clash over the best course of treatment for Xie Jianyu, who remained in a critical state for many hours after he returned to Fuxi Palace.

The last thing they needed was to add fuel to the fire when Xie Jianyu’s fragile health hung in the balance.

"He is recovering well," Zhang Fengxi answered in an equally low voice. "Physician Wei has been very particular about keeping Jianyu restrained to his bed after last time’s hemorrhage."

Zhang Zhiyuan nodded in apprehension.

"The Crown Prince has to maintain a steady and peaceful state for the time being. I hope that you allocated sufficient troops to guard Fuxi Palace."

"I did. In fact, I moved the military base to Fuxi Palace for the time being. The Grand Tutor is the only official who remains in Golden Dragon Palace. He installed a barrier to keep pests from entering the palace for the time being."

Jiang Muchen held a hand up when he saw Zhang Fengxi and his tiger ahead of them.

Furrowing his brows in distaste, he just had to bark at Zhang Fengxi.

"What the hell are you doing here? Why are you loitering around and not protecting my Little Uncle???"

If this happened a few months ago, Zhang Fengxi might just get into a heated verbal argument with Jiang Muchen.

But not today.

Today, he was more than happy to hear Jiang Muchen’s unfriendly chatter.

It was because, despite their mutual dislike, Jiang Muchen was devoted to Xie Jianyu. Jiang Muchen was going to be Zhang Fengxi’s second precious asset to win this battle.
